i love this song so much, especially when he comes in with the first line of the chorus. it has so much emotion in it, and i guess everyone has gone through everything the song talks about at some point or another. it is one of the best songs i've heard in a long time. |

tihs might not make sense to anyone else, but i see the song a little differently... it sounds to me that the song is about a guy who likes a girl who is in a relationship, and she's realised what is happening is wrong, and is letting him go...
"You passed me up so as not to break a promise"
The promise would be her being in a relationship with someone else.
"Said you knew that this would happen"
she knew what she was doing, and it was inevitable that she would fall for the other guy in some way.
"It wasn't built to last"
They knew it couldn't become a proper relationship as long as her boyfriend was still in the picture.
it makes sense to me anyway :) it's a brilliant song, and i think it can be interpreted in quite a few ways, depending on your way of thinking. |

This is an amazing song, i've just recently got into Foo Fighters in a big way. I think this song is all about a girl moving on from a guy, and he can't take it.
"I was too weak to give in
Too strong to lose" - it sounds to me like he wanted to make it work, but he was too proud to.
"Has someone taken your faith?
Its real, the pain you feel"- this sounds like frustration at maybe some other guy hurtin this girl, n grohl cant do anythin about it.
but near the end of the song, it sorta seems like hes learnin how to handle it n hes not gunna take it from her anymore - "i'm no fool".

i can't believe there are so few comments on this song. from the moment my boyfriend played it me, i've loved it and it is in my opinion one of the best songs ever written. the chord progression is amazing, and the way he changes it on the "intense" moments from D/F G to G D is fantastic. ilove the lyrics because they could apply to so many things, such as two lovers and how no one really knows what will happen - "You don't know where you're goin'
You don't know what you're doin'
Hell it might be the highway to heaven
And it might be the road to ruin"
"Baby maybe that's all
We really are" - this line is delivered so emotionally and together with the music, it moves me to tears every time i hear it. i love this song. |

this is about a death of someone loved, or perhaps a lost love. its one of the simplest songs, just guitar and vocal but it hits you hard. sends me sobbing as soon as "But I miss you most of all" kicks in. brilliant. |

the phrase "stones taught me to fly" to me mean that maybe he had to learn to fly because of what he was up against. i love this song so much. "its not hard to fall when you float like a cannonball" means exactly what it says, its such a sad lyric and i love it. |

i don't usually like this genre of music, but its so heartfelt and so well sung, i cant help it! why cant i turn off the radio? its one of the best lyrics ive heard in a long time. everyone feels like that - you feel so upset and broken but cant bring yourself to stop listenig to the songs that once made you happy because they bring up so many memories. as for the MCR thing n pop music, pop music means popular music, so whatevers popular at the time is technically pop. but whats MCR got 2 do with a Ne-Yo song? lol strange... n as for more meaningful songs? i dont think u cant get much more meaningful than this. this was obviously written from personal experience and from the heart. |

i love this song its got a gr8 melody- westlife have covered it but in my opinion josh did it better n holds the notes a hell of a lot better. "i am strong when i am on your shoulders" is a gud lyric as wel even if he didnt write it he sings it with alot of emotion. |
