I think this song is about a guy who likes a girl (could be a guy), but she doesnt notice him in that way. His feelings for her are taking over his world. He might of told her how he feels, and she probably said she wants her "independence" but she gives him hope anyway; hope that it'll all change and she'll fall for him too. "You wanna test the waters And leave it on the empty shores" - I think this demonstrates perfectly how much she thinks of herself. She could possibly love the attention he gives to her so much, that she leads him on purposly so he'll stick around, even though its at the cost of his feelings. Its a song about love(or something like it), and the fear of comittment because of the chance of heartbreak. Jamelia is singing about how she is in a relationship where her lover has betrayed the trust wants the other person to know that if they don't stop, she will keep getting hurt... - "you'd better stop before you tear me all apart you'd better stop before you go and break my heart". This song perfectly portrays the way in which some people feal about love(even me sometimes). Although we don't believe the person would ever leave us, sometimes we come to find that we have made an error in judgement and in future our hearts will hesitate before falling in love again. I love this song, it describes my life and how I feel! |

I think this song is about pain and getting hurt. When someone breaks up with you for a stupid reason that you don't understand; sometimes you feel its easier if they just look you in the eye and tell you they don't find you attractive. Getting broken up with is never easy. 'How do you live so happily while I am sad and broken down'; this emphasizes how hard it is to see the one you love living happily without you, while you're dying inside... Wat'du guys think? |

'Buffalo Soldier' is possibly Bob Marley's most well known song, and one of the easiest songs to sing-along to. This song is special to me, not only because of the simplicity of the beat, the relaxed mood, or the usical talent of Bob's band, The Wailers - this track also has a powerful message against rasism. The song's lyrics tell the story of a buffalo soldier, the name given to black soldiers in the days of slavery in America, who were forced to fight against the Native Indians. They were used as 'cannon fodder' to be killed instead of more 'valuable' white soldiers. The aspect I enjoy most about the lyrics is that Marley doesn't highlight the deaths and bad aspects - He emphasises that they were Buffalo Soldiers - A name given by the Indians out of respect and bravery of those black soldiers.nMarley admires these people - his ancestor - and through his lyrics they are remembered forever. Bob Marley was a political icon in his time and one of his main aims was to remind black people in America and Jamaica of the shackles that held them down for so many years. In the line "fighting on arrival, fighting for survival" Bob looks at the way African Americans have had to fight against things like rasism since arriving in America as slaves. Bob wants black people to remember the brave spirits of their ancesotors, so they can be proud of who they are. In other words, "Buffalo Soldier" is a way of making black Americans proud of who they are, by reminding them of their roots, and not letting them forget the cruelty of the past. Eric Clapton once said, "If I had to describe Bob Marley in a few words, I'd say he was a great lyrics writer, a musical genius, and a great leader of men." One of the reasons why Buffalo Soldier is so special to me, is because it is an excellent example of all three of these aspects - his powerful lyrics, his leadership, and his musical talent. |
