ah no comments? i adore this song. The pre-pubesentcy (not a word but whatever) of it all is really great actually. Conor Oberst is so young in this song and i find it funny when he sings the line "don't you know that i've been a reasonable man?" since hes not really a "man" yet. This song shows talent, and i love the double layer on "fine disaster" beautiful. |

"Shake your head it's empty Shake your hips move your feet" to me, i think shes talking about people in mosh pits/on the dance floor who [some of] have no real opinion, they just like looking hardcore (like headbangers). I just think its kinda about that, mainly because at Metrics last show, Emily was on stage doing this crazy long rendition of Dead Disco and she started talking to the crowd saying stuff like "you think you're so cool with your mosh pit, your mosh pit is a petri dish. I bet you'd say woo if i said it, say woo" and the crowd said woo even though it was pretty much her mocking the pit. I found it really cool, but it kinda proved that people listen blindly (if that makes any sense) And yes metric is amazing live, i agree. Ive seen them twice so far, and I will go back again. |

this is probably my favorite song off of Funeral. that album makes me cry its so good! Anyone who was saying Arcade Fire are overrated... boo to them. aha i love love LOVE the Arcade Fire, and i listened to the cd so many times it doesnt work properly anymore. This song is about having to finally take control after childhood. Their whole albumn is about people who had died in the past year, hence the name funeral. Its such a powerful song. |

This is my favorite of metrics stuff. Last time i saw them live they dident play it... tear... oh well ill see them soon enough, i hope they play then. To me this was one of those "single tear rolls down cheek" songs from the first time i listened to it. I love how her voice goes up when she sings "Dizzy when we talk so fast" and ah yes... just a magical song. |

I think its about childhood... a naive little girl, playing dress up (a gown that touches the ground), um the "floating on a river forever and ever" is like playing forever and not letting go of childhood. Also "soon after dark Emily crys" means (to me) a child not wanting to go to bed... i dont think this song has anything to do with drugs at all. But thats my opinion |

first off, people should stop talking about if kurt killed himself or not... thats not what the song is about. second, it IS a cover, so these very "secret" meanings some of you think he has in it really couldnet be true. Third this song is SOOO amazing... tears in my eyes kinda amazing. Comparing it to the leadbelly version, i like this one a lot better just because i really cant make out a lot of what the leadbelly singer is saying, where as in Nirvanas version, its very very clearly sung. So amazing... gives me chills. |
