I love the line

Now I took that as being an organic person, but then I though.. does that mean he can smell pot in her hair? 'Cuz that would just ruin it for me. Not that I have anything against getting high. I love this song! I would love to be doing this! Going to Marrakesh getting high along the way. Fantastic haha. |

The way I usually think of it when listening is Emily is a the head of a band or something. "See Emily Play" - promoting her shows. She's lost her passion for music and feels detached because of the object she has become to her fans and managers (w/e). She can't show it though until after the show " Soon after dark Emily cries" , Basically she's depressed about her situation being so lonely.
Could be about a little girl or a real life experience too but this is just the way I thought of it. I made up my own little story I suppose. |

I love this song.. it's so catchy but like delial I feel pissed of about the sailor. Seems to me the way she is portrayed is "submissive". The first of the song Brandy "fetches them another round" then they praise her saying how fine she is and what a good wife she would be. She seems like a good girl who would do anything for her man and that is why she would make such a fine wife. I can't help but think that these men are pigs that want to sleep with her and have her serve them beers while they take off and cheat. She would only be a trophy to them anyway.. Poor girl, and she still loves the sailor. I imagine this all and think if she must have low self esteeme not move on. |

I can't believe there isn't more comments on this song, I just discovered it today on Last.fm and I thought wow that is so true. Men you are so lucky and you don't even get it. It pisses me off that I can't go out alone in the city in fear that I could get kidnapped or raped or murdered, pisses me of that my parents tell me to take a man with me if going across canada as I've always wanted to .
