Diana Ross – If We Hold On Together Lyrics

Love The Land Before Time. And this is a beautiful song. Probably the first song I heard since I was very little. Like someone else mentioned I never really understood the words but the melody and singing has been inside me ever since. :) |

I always thought that guitar line right when he says 'This day suuuuckkked' was probably one of the coolest sounding ones they ever did. |

The Blood Brothers – Burn, Piano Island, Burn Lyrics

Has anyone noticed that he actually sings in the song: 'My CHILD of eight of inch fingers' and 'my BRIDE of pineapple skin'. I just thought I would point that out since so many reading them just don't seem to notice. That said a lot of the words in this song are almost completely mangled in the delivery. Reading the lyrics along with the song is like trying to figure out what a mutilated corpse looked like while it was still alive. I think that probably has something to do with the whole concept of the song but more than likely it's just The Blood Brothers being The Blood Brothers. |

I smell a little bit of tetragrammaton but only a teeny tiny grain if any. By the way I'd like to give a shout out to that song. Tetragrammaton- W3RD *crosses arms* |

If you don't have the the first three definitely get Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and A Saucerful Of Secrets. More is ok but I don't know if it's a necessarily a Pink Floyd necessity. |

The Blood Brothers – My First Kiss at the Public Execution Lyrics
| 18 years ago

It's funny how this song is actually completely true even in a very literal sense when you think about it. Back in ancient and medieval era times executions were some of the greatest social highlights ever, especially in an entertainment sense. It was literally like going to a movie or a rock show or something. It would not be uncommon for people to take dates or even their whole family to witness executions. People sold food and everything.. it was a HUGE deal back then. It's sad but in one way or another it still carries on in some form today.. though hopefully not as great as it once was. Therefore this song is indeed a social commentary on the sick curiousitys and perversions of the human mind as well as a historically accurate song so to say in a poetic sense... |

The Mars Volta – A Plague Upon Your Hissing Lyrics

Doesn't the guitar at the end sound just so amazing? It's literally the most happiest tune they've ever come up with I think. What could it's significance mean, at the end of this relatively harsh sounding song? |

Man the people who said this song could be about pedophilia are freaking ridiculous. I never even thought that once about it until I read that shit on here...
It sounds like a perfect description of a little girl growing up and spending time either with her father or her grandfather. I mean when we're babies our first friends are our parents after all. She's growing up and discovering the world outside her house where she's been all her life. Catching bugs, painting and having fun by pretending to smoke cigars.
I love that scream/wail/growl she does. This song always makes me so happy whenever I hear it. Probably my favorite song ever. |

At the Drive-In – Terranova Compost Lyrics

YEA FIRST ONE TO COMMENT ON THIS GREAT SONG.
HOORAY FOR ME.
Anyways I think this might be their best least known song. I'm not sure around what year it was made but the quality is pretty good.
I haven't really taken much time to dissect the meaning but from what I get from the lyrics, I think there is a pretty good chance this could either be describing a really bad relationship with another person with the experiences of being backstabbed and betrayed or a maybe even a criticism of the music industry and how they felt their band related to it.
Good stuff. |
