Immortal Technique – You Never Know Lyrics 15 years ago
For a while, I started to lose my faith in rap and just started shaking my head every time I listened to the radio. I grew up with rap and rock and can't believe what it's turned into on the mainstream. I gave up hope --- that is, until I started listening to Tech.

The song itself is straightforward, but that's what makes it so powerful. Coming from a dude, by the end of this song, I shed quite a few tears. It's a song that goes beyond the rhyming, past the typical, "OMG, you cheated on me, let me make a song with a heavy-ass dance beat to compensate for how I can't capture the feeling properly!"

Listening to Tech's brought back hope for me in the rap game... people want to party all the time, forgetting there's a lot of shit that's still wrong in the world, especially here in mine and Tech's shared home of New York City. They say talking about these hardships get old after a while, but they don't --- as long as people are hurting from society, as long as they're trying to get out from under the heel of strife, it never gets old.

Keep it real, Tech. You've earned your place with 'Pac, B.I.G., Big L and the rest of the icons. The diamond in the rough of rap.

Tool – Disposition Lyrics 16 years ago
First off, I'd like to agree not as a stoner, but as a spiritual person that smokes, this is a beautiful song to smoke to. With that said...

I was lazy and didn't take the time to read pages 2-4, so this idea might have already been expressed. But if it isn't yay! Anyway, I don't think it's about a relationship at all... sorry, but in my honest opinion, that's just superficial. It's about a higher plane of thought, of spirituality...

With this song's few lyrics, I believe Maynard (whom I'll just call the narrator 'cause it could be anyone that identifies with the song), I think he's showing confusion and a lack of understanding either like a child or just someone who is in a crisis of ideas or beliefs or identity --- anything having to do with what truly makes us what we are and our essence/soul. The narrator's asking for someone, anyone to give him or her an explanation to his/her questions. And since the person is so confused and doesn't have a true feeling of who they are, the weather --- their moods, their beliefs, how they view the world (pessimistic, optimistic, realistic, etc.) --- constantly changes. In a way, I think it could tie into the weather literally in that it could be raining one minute and sunny the next to emphasize how fast this person can change.

And if that explanation confused anyone, I'll clarify it a little: imagine someone laying on a field just staring at wonder at the sky, watching the clouds go by and with every cloud that resembles something, every time a cloud blocks out the sun and then reveals it, the person's state of mind or thoughts are constantly changing, asking themselves questions about random things and then eventually just begging for a singular, constant answer.

Well, that's my view on this song. =)

Sarah McLachlan – Possession Lyrics 16 years ago
Playdrv4me, that's a matter of opinion >< at least make an effort to make a comment on the song itself instead of making a menial post like that... anyway...

I know the stalker deal and whatnot, but I can't help but have my own interpretation like everyone else's. And as with other songs that I've commented on songmeanings, I'll break it down by verse 'cause that's how I can do it best for myself ^_^ I can relate to this song so much because it pretty much describes how I felt about my now ex-girlfriend (the break up wasn't because of the stalking, lol)

"Listen as the wind blows
From across the great divide
voices trapped in yearning,
Memories trapped in time
The night is my companion,
And solitude my guide
Would I spend forever here and not be satisfied?"

The sleepless nights alone of just thinking of a person and freezing the image of the person or their face in your mind... their eyes, lips, their smile... and just replaying their voice over and over in your head and you want so desperately to answer back and sometimes you do whether it's just whispering to yourself or saying a small prayer for them.

"And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
And after, I'd wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear"

This actually reminds me a little bit of "Pet" by A Perfect Circle but in a much more loving, obsessive sense rather than a manipulative, control perspective. It's beautifully sickening, I think, because the first thing that comes to mind for me is a person (usually a serial killer) stalking someone he's loved for such a long time. Or even better, Hades and Persephone. You want the person so bad, even if it's against their will, just to feel their kisses and embraces and the touch of their skin.

"Through this world I've stumbled
So many times betrayed
Trying to find an honest word to find
The truth enslaved
Oh you speak to me in riddles
And you speak to me in rhymes
My body aches to breathe your breath
Your words keep me alive"

Heh, this one really reminds me of my ex-girlfriend... her and I considered ourselves intellectuals and we loved puzzles and riddles and philosophy. For my end, though, it was much more... she was like a drug for me like I couldn't function without her. Even if I knew I wouldn't be able to see her, I would keep that fact under wraps in the back of my head because I never really wanted to face it ("The truth enslaved"). It was always a beautiful thing when she woke up with me or vice versa together and just listening to each other's heartbeats and tangled up in each other's arms and the sheets. =)

"Into this night I wander
It's morning that I dread
Another day of knowing of
The path I fear to tread
Oh into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride
Nothing stands between us here
And I won't be denied"

Again, "Deep In A Dream" about the person (Frank Sinatra reference; good song. If you haven't listened to it, please do so ^_^) and never wanting to wake up to the possibility of going about your day without seeing the person. And if you do go about your day without seeing them, you do so lacking any sort of real motivation (I think, anyway) and when the chance arrives to see the person, you're like an elder tiger looking for prey... absolutely nothing will hinder you from getting what you want.

Anyways, that's my interpretation of the song from my perspective and experience. The emotions went both ways for a while until we just couldn't stand being away from each other and lo and behold, we were for a good long time and when we saw each other again, it didn't feel the same. So we just went our separate ways somewhat even though neither of us really wanted to.

On another note, yet again a b-a-u-tiful song by a just-as beautiful singer and lyricist =) Sarah McLachlan really knows how to hit it home with the mind and soul, IMO.

Placebo – Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
Of all places where I first heard this song, it was in a World of Warcraft video >.>; After I heard it, I hunted it down on Ares and got it and listened to it pretty intently... I don't think I've been so mesmerized by a band so much (unless it was Tool, Pink Floyd, or Kyuss). This song totally caught me off-guard and I put this song on repeat almost every night before I go to bed because it's soothing and it's one of those songs that can either really clear your mind or have you crying on the spot - at least for me, and I'm a guy =P The "heartbeat" in the background is what gives this song the feeling of rapture and really fits the song appropriately since the lyrics are a REAL heart-to-heart. I'll break this down verse by verse with more than one interpretation for each one ^_^ Just because I love this song that much....

"It doesn't hurt me.
You wanna feel how it feels?
You wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?
You wanna hear about the deal I'm making?
You (be running up that hill)
You and me (be running up that hill)"

From a break-up standpoint (or even just a relationship one), he or she is saying to their significant other that they're not hurt, but whatever was done still had some affect and he or she's basically asking if they want to find out how the deed feels. "You" and "You and me" is the person saying to the other that it's seriously just one-on-one, no one else. From a sexual standpoint, just lovers being very careful and close... the deal is almost hippie-ish that they are united and joined.

"And if I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building.
If I only could, oh..."

In both the sexual and break-up/relationship viewpoints, just the two lovers overcoming that obstacle (break-up) or both climbing in pleasure with one another with their heartbeats as one.

"You don't want to hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
Unaware that I'm tearing you asunder.
There is thunder in our hearts, baby.
So much hate for the ones we love...
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?"

Break-up: The person is hurt and showing the wound (I picture it in my head as them in tears), even though their lover might not have intended it while their lover's being torn in two between the guilt of what they did and the possibly existing intention they had behind it. He or she points out that there's basically hate between them that contradicts what they're supposed to be, then goes on to ask if they're both still halves of each other and if they're important to each other.
Sexual: This one, I'll admit is hard to pin down... he/she is being careful with his/her lover even though there's been some passionate pains during the blissful act while he/she's been focused, absorbed, and intense with the act. They don't know hate and thus they question it as if they're thinking of the rest of the world and then asking that despite all the people, if they both matter in keeping the flame of love burning still.

"You, (be running up that hill)
You and me, (be running up that hill)
You and me won't be unhappy.

And if I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
Be running up that building,
If I only could, oh..."

Skipping because it's a repeat...

"'C'mon, baby, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
Let me steal this moment from you now.
C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
Let's exchange the experience, oh...'"

Possibly my favorite part of the whole song; like someone said earlier in this thread, a climax. Break-up/relationship standpoint, 'm seeing the person looking to take that moment of inflicting the pain he or she did, whether it's through stealing or swapping, either out of sadness and desperation or a little bit of sadism and payback and desire. In the sexual sense, I think it's somewhat obvious... they really want to know how the other feels and truly be intertwined with one another.

"And if I only could,
Make a deal with God,
And get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.."

Almost the same as the usual chorus repeated twice before in the song but the last line ("With no problems") I think can either be wishful thinking of the person or a truth, e.g. they've resolved what's between them, whether it was damage done to the significant other or the two passionate people achieving what they were looking for in the first place with ease at last.
_________________________________________________________________

Honestly, the best rendition of the song, better than Katie Bush's version (the original) and Within Temptation's. Katie Bush's didn't capture the same essence that she wrote in the lyrics as I thought it was too fast in tempo and her voice didn't match up with the emotion of the song and Within Temptation just fucking butchered the song in my personal opinion in every aspect (instrumentally and vocally). Placebo did the best job of capturing the meaning(s) of the song instrumentally and vocally and in such a way that I'll never get tired of putting this song on repeat for hours on end if I want to relax. =)

Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics 16 years ago
Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to add...

The instrumentals in this song, though they may not be ranked on any b.s. top list from Rolling Stone or whatever, they're still some of the best I've heard just because of the expression and how well they fit with the lyrics and the idea(s) of the song.

Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics 16 years ago
This is just one of those songs that to me, no words could describe how much I love, admire, and even listen to this song. I agree that it has to do with evolution, but not so much of our physical evolution but rather a mental evolution kind of like Tool's "Forty-Six & 2" and "Reflection". And now my favorite part, breaking it down verse by verse:

[Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine]

Everything seems to be murky around us to the point where nothing looks like it's moving. Yet we can hear everything around us that we want to be past, but it's still present as we're stuck on this level of unenlightenment.

[And no-one showed us to the land
And no-one knows the where or whys
But something stirs and something tries
And starts to climb towards the light]

We are questioning the murky depths of our being but since we have no answers, we try to swim/move up.

[Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can]

We pick out a partner in our journey to help us comprehend what is going on; we don't care if we know them or not, just that they may know something we don't or have the potential and capacity to know and become.

[And no-one calls us to move on
And no-one forces down our eyes
And no-one speaks and no-one tries
And no-one flies around the sun]

This is probably one of my favorite verses in the song. We have nothing to hold us back or stand in our way but yet no one wants to go the extra mile to see, hear, touch, smell, taste, or do anything.

[Cloudless everyday you fall upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning]

Still journeying, our partners are beckoning us and waking us from a dream or a moment of realization.

[And no-one sings me lullabies
And no-one makes me close my eyes
And so I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky]

No one is putting us to sleep or leaving us in the dark. It's too late as we make our startling discoveries in life and the universe.

GodDAMN I love this song.

Evanescence – Anywhere Lyrics 17 years ago
For an Evanescence song (no offense, but in most songs, they're not all that good in my opinion; but anyway, going on a tangent..) this is a REALLY beautiful song. They went beyond outdoing themselves in this song. I used to be a hopeless romantic, but then came a slew of broken relationships that just makes one bitter, but not enough to not be able to put this song on and sing and sway along with the song.

Actually reminds me of my ex-girlfriend... her and I were growing up in dysfunctional families and it got to the point where we scrounged everything we had and were about to just go anywhere we could as long as it was away from both our families. What stopped us was the long-term stuff that would affect us and weighing them. But no matter what, one of us would always sing this song to the other late in the night sitting in Central or Battery Park... Good times, good times.

Frank Sinatra – A Long Night Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song... just full of imagery. I can just see myself or just some guy in a hat, button-up shirt with the first few buttons undone at the top with khakis and his coat slung over his shoulder and smoking a cigarette. He's reminiscing on his past, I'd say and he's just remembering how close to ruin he came on the "90-proof gin" and the "bottle".

R.I.P. Ol' Blue Eyes. =)

Soundgarden – Blow Up the Outside World Lyrics 17 years ago
Alrighty, my interpretation for this song...

I think it's kind of a Bonnie & Clyde-ish song in a way. To put it in a sort of story form, a guy's been fighting and struggling against everything in life and finds that he can't be brought down and the whole time he's had someone (maybe a lover, friend, etc.) behind him supporting him and serving as an accomplice to everything. He realizes his potential to basically just take on the whole world that he knows on his own. The guy also decides that he'll do it not just for himself, but for anyone else that could benefit as well.

Eventually, he sees that "blowing up the outside world" isn't exactly a good thing to do considering what it could do and to the extent in which he could do it. So, he starts wishing and praying that he was never aware of being able to "blow up the outside world" because it leads him to a sort of isolation that he's on his own in everything like he feels an obligation to himself and others to "blow up the outside world".

And aldeayeah, I don't mean to be mean, but it's kind of stupid to make a Black Hole Sun reference with this song... "Blow Up The Outside World" is its own song with a different meaning, depending on how you interpret it. If you could back up that "children of Black Hole Sun" claim, then maybe I'll see where you're coming from. ^_^

I. LOVE. This. Song.

I agree with Trips on this song... it's just about running and getting out and away from all the negative shit in a person's life, just finally standing up and saying that, "I've had enough. Let's go." The first verse just really caught me and pretty much held me to the song until I really got to appreciate this song =D Awesome job by Cornell and the rest of the guys in Soundgarden

Breaking Benjamin – Shallow Bay Lyrics 17 years ago
Glad I'm not the only one who realized the similarity to Aenema... the beginning even sounds similar to Aenema in the guitar if you listen to it close enough or maybe it's just me.... a decent song and I'm gonna take a leaf out of arethemad's comment on it being related to Aenema.

The sun will rise another time
Colors blind your virgin eyes
I'm so inclined to make you mine
You're out of line and out of time

Could be talkin' to the Californians in the first two lines, then talks about the dream of Arizona Bay (I'm so inclined to make you mine), then last line's to California.

And I float upon a shallow bay
Lift me up until the ground gives way
I'm a California castaway
I don't think you wanna fuck with me

Total apocalyptic image here... storming and raging through California, floating above the water as he watches California give way into the ocean.

Don't overkill
The painless thrill
It's bitter still
Your pretty pill
You're waiting till you've had your fill
I know you will, I know you will

People anesthetizing themselves with stupid shit, kind of a reference to Stinkfist (which from a lot of points of view is about people wanting more and more of anything and everything until they become numb)

You live, you learn
You live, you learn
You live

Reference to Tool's verse in Aenema that goes:

Don't just call me "pessimist"
Try and read between the lines
I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change my friend

Anyway, that's just me... Breaking Benjamin's spin on "Aenema". A good attempt, but not the best in my opinion... I'm a hardcore Tool fan, I guess ^_^ Doesn't make me narrow-minded to music, just that I guess I have higher expectations IMO.

Soundgarden – Like Suicide Lyrics 17 years ago
Story behind the song: Bird flew into Chris Cornell's window with broken bones, he put it out of its misery. Onto the matter...

I can't really think of any other way to explain this song except to do it in a kind of story form verse by verse, so here it goes:

"Heard it from another room
Eyes were waking up just to fall asleep
Love's like suicide
Dazed out in a garden bed
With a broken neck lays my broken gift
Just like suicide"

He's over in another room when he's waking up and hears that noise --- apparently, his lover, girlfriend, whatever enjoying the pleasures of another person in some shape or form whether it's sex or something else. It's at that moment when he realizes that love is like playing russian roulette (Love's like suicide); you may not necessarily pull the trigger, but you make the choice to go into it and thus you sign your own death warrant. So anyway, he gets up and finds her on a very lavish bed, or laying in a garden of flowers after the Other Person leaves and he gets the idea of killing her ("With a broken neck lays my gift") to free himself of the pain.

"And my last ditch
Was my last brick
Lent to finish her
Finish her"

Pretty self-exclamatory here. He picks up the nearest object to him (in this case, we can assume it's a brick) that's by itself and tehre by fate ("Lent to finish her").

"Bit down on the bullet now
I had a taste so sour
I had to think of something sweet
Love's like suicide
Safe outside my gilded cage
With an ounce of pain
I wield a ton of rage
Just like suicide"

Here we see that despite what he's about to do, he's still a thinking, emotional human being. He's feeling guilty as he does this so he distracts himself with the thought of freeing himself from her torment then reittirates about love being a suicide (a couple of paragraphs before). With this action, he also frees himself of a golden cage (look up "gild" to see where I got that from) that seemed so utopian but now with that "ounce of pain" she caused him, he has "a ton of rage" to dish out. "Just like suicide," again, signing your own death warrant but this time he's talking about her playing roulette with his emotions and now she's sealed her fate.

"With eyes of blood
And bitter blue
How I feel for you
I feel for you"

He looks at her with hatred, but can't stomp out his feelings for her at that moment to make killing her less painful. And to go a bit farther, he also feels sorry that she's about to suffer this but my guess is that he's thinking, "We're both going to suffer, but it'll be quick. Let me get this over with."

"She lived like a murder
How she'd fly so sweetly
She lived like a murder
But she dies
Just like suicide"

His lover lived an unwanted, emotionally hurtful "second life" to him but she was so graceful, beautiful, and desirable in his eyes. However, again, she made that choice and sealed her fate ("She lived like a murder / But she dies / Just like suicide").

Aaaaamd that's pretty much my interpretation of this song... I love it to death besides, if not more, than Black Hole Sun.

Soundgarden – Spoonman Lyrics 17 years ago
karmababe24 has pretty much said what I wanted to say about people's interpretations. True, the site's called SongMeanings, so if that's the case, what's wrong with posting your own take on the song? Since when did the site become some place to try and nitpick at the artist's mind when it's supposed to be who it was made for to listen --- us, the audience. So just pick your take on it. Anyhow, moving onto the subject...

Looking at the title, right off the bat I get the impression of heroine. But when you look at a song, you have to look at more than just the lyrics, the tone they're sung in, etc.. Note that people said it has a great beat (which it does, kick ass man). Artis the Spoonman plays spoons as an instrument, correct? Bam. There's your connection right there folks along with the lyrics. (This is the kind of "interpretation power/method," for lack of a better phrase, you get from listening to a LOT of Tool and other early 90's bands including Soundgarden =D).

Also, this is probably my second favorite song behind my two first favorites, "Black Hole Sun" and "Like Suicide". A pity Soundgarden broke up, it would've been awesome to see them write a 21st century version "Black Hole Sun" with the shit that goes on these days.

Lacuna Coil – Cold Heritage Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, just recently I've started getting into Lacuna Coil. I got entranced mainly by Christina's style of singing and then her lyrics followed by how beautiful & hot she is. Then, just today I downloaded this song and.... wow. I can't see myself, like others, getting tired of the instrumental/beat along with her voice and lyrics. It's hypnotizing.

And since we're talking about vocals as well, here's an idea that I have that would be nice to see in a lifetime, even though some of these greats are gone. Finally blend my two favorite kinds of music, rock and (old school) rap. A song with Maynard, Chino, 2Pac, Sarah McLachlan, Christina Scabbia, Notorious B.I.G. and Layne Staley. It sounds weird I know, but one can dream, eh?

Sarah McLachlan – Angel Lyrics 18 years ago
I still remember the first time I actually heard this song, back in 2000 when I lived with my poor, unworthy excuse of a mother. Getting a bit personal here, but she (along with my dad) put me through a hell to the point where I attempted suicide starting at the age of nine. Sad, I know. But anyway, getting off track...

So in 2000, just one night when my "mother" and I had one of our usual arguments that just seriously pushed whatever solace I saved out the door. I was curled up on my bed in my room and my computer was on. Lo and behold, the folder where I'd downloaded the song to was there and I hadn't taken the time to listen to it. So, I put it on play and from there, I remember just going totally blank in the mind. I stopped crying and all I could do was just rock myself to sleep with the strokes of the piano.

This song reminds me of the struggles that a few close friends of mine and even myself had to go through in the past years. And I can't help but think about this song whenever I reminisce on those that didn't survive life's bitterness. This is probably the only song besides "10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2)" that can make me smile and cry in the same heartbeat. It's one of the deepest songs ever written, in my opinion, lyrically and instrumentally... well, wiith a piano like that, I can't imagine a person who wouldn't be soothed by it unless they were ignorant beyond comprehension.

But yeah, going back a bit, I just think it's about those who've moved on after giving up the struggle of life and just maybe finding some comfort, no matter how little, how brief it may be. Makes you wonder, really, of how anyone can say suicide can be a sin after hearing a song like this.

TREXOR, a little lesson you should've learned from elementary: if you don't have anything pleasant to say, don't say it at all. Fine, you're opinion that this song sucks, it's only an opinion. As for anyone that wants to bash TREXOR, it ain't worth it and you're no better than he is.

Awesome song instrumentally O_O Adam outdid himself on the guitar in the beginning... it's like glue, lol. For anyone that doesn't know (someone else mentioned this in the 10,000 Days thread, kudos to them for recognizing this), 10,000 days = 27 years --- the amount of years between Maynard's mother's crippling stroke and her death. This song I think is just Maynard's way of saying "I miss you, why couldn't you take me with you, mom?"

All I can say is that I love this song... a bit more straightforward than other Tool songs, even moreso than The Grudge, but Tool doesn't disappoint. All in all, this songs awesome...

The way I look at this song is just being zombified by the media and all that's around us. Then we go around saying, "What a horrible world we live in!" That may be true, but in essence when you look at it, most of us have pretty decent or at least halfway decent lives to live; when we see this stuff, we take on it like it's our own troubles and try to sympathize. Nothing wrong with that, but overall, you're better off spending your life to try and correct that sort of thing.

Awesome song from Chino and Maynard... o.o the vocals are just something to get high off of, I swear =P That's how I practically felt when I first heard this song. This song could be sexual, but I don't think it is entirely... like someone said earlier (sorry, don't feel like looking back for the name as I write this x.x;), there's a lot more involved in any song where Maynard's singing, let alone writing the lyrics. So far, I think everyone's right on the interpretations ('cept the dude who said it's about Maynard sucking off Chino, stfu dude).

Awesome collabo though... one that I think we'd all wanna hear: Maynard James Keenan, Chino, Layne Staley, and Chris Cornell. That would be God's tribute right there XD

Wow, never knew humanity could be this immature... then again I shouldn't be surprised considering the music coming out these days (that was NOT a shot at this song). I'll admit, the lyrics are simple for my taste and so's the instrumental, but the instrumental's catchy as hell o.o Korn has lost their touch from the old days with all that anger and that, but eh, least this isn't too generic...

As for what this songs about, the lyrics're pretty much self-exclamatory. If you want something interpretive, go look at some Tool songs (Tool > all bands).

Mediocre job, Korn. Wishin' for the ol' days here. @_@

Flyleaf – I'm So Sick Lyrics 18 years ago
For me, the song's taking a shot at all these sell-outs that we see in the music scene these days, no matter what genre - rock, rap, or otherwise - we listen to. The first three lines are awesome XD "Just shut the fuck up and listen, damn it, until you get this shit drilled into your head," basically. Musicians've become corporate whores, to say the least and she has a blatant example that I love here:

You sink into my clothes
This invasion makes me feel
Worthless, hopeless, sick

Gettin' more detailed and a bit literal, musicians are all over the fucking place advertising for fashion lines or making their own and trying to make it the "standard of an individual" I like to call it. But yeah, this is just a message to the sellouts and cash-whores in the music industry - at least to me it is. And to paraphrase Bill Hicks:

Here's the rule, folks. If you do a commercial, you're automatically taken off the artistic roll call. I don't care if you shit out Mona Lisa's on que, you made you're fucking choice. If you're a young actor, fine, I'll look the other way - other than that, no. One exception: Willie Nelson, $24 million tax debt, he was a bit looser than the rest of us. I just avert my eyes whenever he sings about tacos...

Not the best song, but not the worst either. Catchy, and whoever the lead singer is has a cool voice. XD

Nonpoint – Bullet With A Name Lyrics 18 years ago
This song pretty much speaks for itself... I'd say the stand-out lyrics for me:

You see everybody's watching and,
Passing judgement on,
Every little move and decision I make.

The price tag of the things I need,
Are getting bigger by the day.

Who doesn't want the cars, money,
Fame, attention, bars, honey's,
Games, attention, stars,
Funny, How we say we don't need it,
Then turn around and try to achieve it.

Society's criticism of you while you deny all those things but then you just wanna get all that stuff to shut them up and to get by with everything. Sort of like "The Unforgiven" by Metallica, but not as artistic or in-depth =P Still a good song, though.

Tool – No Quarter (Led Zeppelin cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
I've listened to both versions, back-to-back, for God knows how many times in a row. I'm a singer in my own band, so mind me if I don't pay attention to the guitars and that - in my opinion, Tool has this cover laid out flat over Led Zeppelin's version. No offense to LZ, of course, but Tool has them on this one. For one, Maynard in my opinion just outdoes Robert Plant in voice. Just 'cause LZ is older and like other bands they've given inspiration to newer bands doesn't mean thye automatically get the title of "rock gods" if there's even a such thing. The bands, they're not gods, they're not omniscient stars, they're musicians... anyway, getting off-topic... Maynard's voice is just more chilling and powerful than Robert Plant's. And I forgot who said this but it's on the first page, the original -does- kinda sound like a drowned MIDI... no disrespect to Led Zepp or their fans.

It's just an opinion.
