Iron Maiden – El Dorado Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Sounds like it....remember Gordon Brown said it was the end of boom & bust? Think of Gordon Brown as the storyteller in this song. |

ARedSlime, you're wrong. It's "Just a babe in the black abyss". It is how it sounds and what is in the booklet! |

Iron Maiden – Out of the Shadows Lyrics | 17 years ago |
great song, infact the whole album is awesome. according to Mr Dickinson, the song is about birth. ie when you are born you are king for a day. |
Bruce Dickinson – A Tyranny of Souls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I believe that more than the first stanza is about Macbeth. For example: "Speaking tongues of fire, Inflaming our desires, watching as we die" (the witches and MacBeth's wife who all tried and suceesed to increase his desire for the crown) "Who raised the dagger who plays the tune?" (asking who killed the King but who pulled the strings/played the tune the killer danced to) |
Bruce Dickinson – Omega Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I also thought it was about the end of the sun: "Now it's omega zero day The red star shines its last rays The sun that gave us life yesterday Is now the sun that takes our lives away" The bit about heaven and angels i think is refering to the false beliefs (We believed in heaven, we believed in angels With arms of purest whitehold us, catch us when we fall ). People who believed in heaven, angels salvation, find that its all a lie, because they live to see the appocalypse...which happens to be when the sun burns itself out and not when their god commanded it. |
Iron Maiden – Flight Of Icarus Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Iron Maiden – Dream Of Mirrors Lyrics | 18 years ago |
to me it sounds like one of Descartes, Dancy and Putnam (they build on the previous ideas) philosophical ideas. put simply, the same idea as in The matrix, which is a story based on the idea that were are in a "fake" "dream" world. " since all we ever experience is our own inner mental states, we might , for all we could tell, be living in an illusion created by a malicious demon" - Ren Descartes "You do not know that you are not a brain, suspended in a vat full of liquid in a laboratory, and wired to a computer which is feeding you your current experiences under the control of some ingenious technician scientist (benevolent or malevolent according to taste). For if you were such a brain, then, provided that the scientist is successful, nothing in your experience could possibly reveal that you were; for your experience is ex hypothesi identical with that of something which is not a brain in a vat. Since you have only your own experience to appeal to, and that experience is the same in either situation, nothing can reveal to you which situation is the actual one." - Introduction to Contemporary Epistemology, 10 |

Iron Maiden – New Frontier Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i lovve this album and all the songs in it. i thought it was about cloning when i first heard the song. "create a beast, made a man without a soul" - its trying to say that people have a soul, because they are born the way "God" intended. creating a clone, does it have a soul? would it be just an empty human? would it be human at all? "the spawn of a man, the devil has planned" - so called "god" didnt intend people to be born this way. the devils plan, making man think he is as powerful as "god". thus man is on the path of destruction. which brings us neatly onto "is it worh the risk, a war of god and man" it is a song to do with science vs religion |
Iron Maiden – Face In The Sand Lyrics | 18 years ago |
a brilliant song, one of my favorites "Everybody's waiting for something to happen Everybody's waiting for something to see Lunatics waiting for bigger disasters Everyone's waiting for news on TV" - have you noticed how as soon as something happens like 9/11, spanish bombings, london bomings, declaration of war on iraq....that people rush to the tv and need to know exactly whats going on. is it like a drug? unless it directly affects you, i think it is. "Winding lives at the end of the spiral Waiting dictators with their next big thrill Everyone's looking, but no one is listening Everybody wants to be in at the kill" -to me, this verse is saying that democracy is failing. look at the war on iraq, alot of the uk population didnt want to go to war, yet the primeminister was acting like a dictator and didnt listen. "Everyone's searching, but nothing's revealing Everyone's looking for the reason why Everyone's hoping for life everafter Everyone's looking at death from the sky " - asking why there is violence? death from the sky, common end of human theory is a meterite, maybe this is trying to say that death wont be coming from the sky where people are looking, but is under their noses, nuclear war. i think this is a song about human corruption and the death of us all. |
