Rush – The Trees Lyrics 15 years ago
Haha, no.

It's post-marxist Socialism v. Capitalism.

The last stanza is a phrase used some times in debating related political theory.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Fortunate Son Lyrics 15 years ago
Think about it: This song is TRUE patriotism.

Read back a ways, about a guy named John Locke. His idea was pretty much the guiding inspiration for our government: The people have every single right to rebel against a government they feel is unfit.

That's what the United States of America were founded on. Not Dem's and Repub's, not trucks and navy jacks, not eagles and stars and stripes. It was made to be OUR government, of OUR nation, ruling by the consent of the people and *nothing* else.

Every time a young person disagrees with their leaders and keeps their mouth shut about it, the founding fathers roll over in their graves.

Billy Talent – Devil in a Midnight Mass Lyrics 16 years ago
With a few exceptions, the lyrics from the demo are actually better than the album version, in my opinion.

Live – Lakini's Juice Lyrics 16 years ago
More wine, 'cause I got to have it.
Obsession. Demand for the sort of poison alcohol symbolizes.

More skin, 'cause I got to eat it.
Shock-value statement, devouring gluttony, specifically gluttony of lust.

...

I'm going to go by gut instinct.
Drawn by physical desire, drawn too quickly into a relationship that one knows should be considered nigh-sacred.

And are we sure that "ladies'" isn't "lady's" ?

Cheap Trick – I Want You To Want Me Lyrics 16 years ago
This song was conclusive evidence that I was born 15 years late.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – 21st Century Lyrics 16 years ago
Although it may very well be self evident, the bass part of this song is refined kickass. It blends into the vocal melody perfectly, and the solo is worthy only of Flea himself.

submissions
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
This is the song I learned slap and pop on.

True classic indeed, and one of the best cover songs ever done.

submissions
Counting Crows – Mr. Jones Lyrics 16 years ago
Getting drunk on a lonely evening, wishing for just a little more than you know you can have.

Primus – Wynona's Big Brown Beaver Lyrics 16 years ago
It's about a woman named Wynona, and her big brown beaver.

Welcome to Primus.

submissions
Primus – Tommy The Cat Lyrics 16 years ago
Old dude in a bar telling a story.
It's PRIMUS. They tend not to hide much.

Also, this is one of the songs on the "Badass bassist" qualifying exam.

Live – Operation Spirit (The Tyranny of Tradition) Lyrics 16 years ago
Traditional religion having a tyrannical monopoly over spirituality.

submissions
Golden Earring – Twilight Zone Lyrics 16 years ago
Espionage!

I have to throw it out there, though, who's to say it's Turkey?

"Under Moon and Star" could just as easily refer to the beacon being moved under the cover of night, without his knowing.

submissions
Megadeth – Washington Is Next! Lyrics 16 years ago
The method of mass control described in the lyrics are vaguely reminiscent of 1984. Keep the public without power without it, keep the public with power poor, uneducated, hateful, and forever not just loyal to, but loving of the state.

It's all too easy.

submissions
Megadeth – Dawn Patrol Lyrics 16 years ago
We kind of *are* fucking over the environment, guys.

submissions
Live – Turn My Head Lyrics 16 years ago
Is it about GOD or is it about SEX?

The debate continues.

It's a beautiful song, nevertheless.

Blue Öyster Cult – Don't Fear The Reaper Lyrics 16 years ago
She falls in the last stanza.

She goes to join him, whoever he is, in death.

I don't get why someone has to paint "abortion" over it.

I know the person this song fits.

Billy Idol – Rebel Yell Lyrics 16 years ago
Sounds like a pimp getting a conjugal visit from a certain friend.

Adding in, living in that lifestyle and going without sex for a good while, and a rebel yell might just fit right into the situation

R.E.M. – It's the End of the World as We Know It Lyrics 16 years ago

Coheed and Cambria – The Hound (Of Blood and Rank) Lyrics 16 years ago
Just suggesting this:

Break the stanzas into complete lines.
Now ignore how Claudio accents his sentences, and read it again.

You can put them together differently.

...waiting while the willing, poor, little hound of blood and rank.. (Who) deserves every ounce of what's coming

submissions
Rush – A Farewell To Kings Lyrics 16 years ago
It might just be coincidence, but does anyone else notice a few similarities between the opening of this song and the intro to 2112?

I might just be imagining it, though.

Before I die, I want at least to once hear this song and Closer to the Heart played in concert. Two of the most amazing songs ever written.

submissions
Coheed and Cambria – 21:13 Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm actually in support of this being a tie-back to Claudio's prospective of the events during and around Everything Evil.

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 16 years ago
It's an introduction song!

It was planted by the Illuminati! Discovering the true meaning of the song is the path into their true order!

Coheed and Cambria – The End Complete III: The End Complete Lyrics 16 years ago
Run, little rabbit.
Go hide, in the blades of the grass.
Run, rabbit, run.

I don't have a doubt in the world: Claudio's Vengeance .

submissions
Coheed and Cambria – The End Complete II: Radio Bye Bye Lyrics 16 years ago
House Atlantic lies ravaged.

The keywork is about to burn.

The Crowing is saying his last goodbyes, and casting off his last doubtful thoughts, before the story's conclusion.

Perhaps that in itself is relevant. He knows now, does he not, that he is but a character to a fictional writer?

"It's the curse of the radio bye bye~"
Sounds like he's regretting not being able to say farewell face to face.

submissions
My Chemical Romance – House Of Wolves Lyrics 16 years ago
Y'all quit trying too hard, please?

He uses "The Patient" in the album as nothing more than a common thread for a number of different songs. This in particular is mocking the way that mass organized religion has become.

submissions
Coheed and Cambria – The Running Free Lyrics 16 years ago
Beautiful.

Entrancing guitar work, and amazing lyrics.
They didn't do a lot to touch up Claudio's voice in this song, and I'm glad. The man is a vocal god, with or without the sound studio's help.

Anyway.. considering its position on the listing, and its tone, I'm guessing this is where the plot takes its major turn up toward the climax.

I guess we'll know before too long.

submissions
Toadies – Possum Kingdom Lyrics 16 years ago
Lol.

It seems like anything even remotely depressing equates to vampires right now.

In origin, it's about the events at Possum Lake. In effect, to me, it sounds like coercing a girl into sex through psychological abuse.

Since nobody's directly mentioned it yet,
"Love lies bleeding in my hands!" is a lyric from Elton John.

Foo Fighters – Monkey Wrench Lyrics 17 years ago
It could be highschool relationships, a joking lash at Corbain, hell, I kinda like the gay thing. Even if it does have one fixed meaning, it's reader's prerogative to interpret it as they will.

Queen – Fat Bottomed Girls Lyrics 17 years ago
There's a deeper meaning in it, but it's mostly superficial. NOT a bad thing. xD

To hell with anorexia, this here's a shoutout to all the show-offey girls who get the grove that a nice back curve beats the out bony hips any day of the week.

submissions
Zoe – No Me Destruyas Lyrics 17 years ago
I thought ya no was something along the lines of no more.

So wouldn't it be more like "you don't hurt me anymore?"

It seems more fitting with the rest of the lyrics.

submissions
Sonata Arctica – San Sebastian Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm actually throwing my money on evilMoW's version of "Dame And"

Myself, I heard it as "Day, man!," but it seemed rather unfitting to the style in which the band's lyrics are traditionally written. Also, you have to take into account the thick accent laid over the vocalist's singing voice, so I'd imagine that "Demon" could well be it.

submissions
AFI – Love Like Winter Lyrics 17 years ago
I know it's not right, but just throwing it out there: Incest?

Twincest? "I met my love before I was born"

Anyway, as has been said. Por siempre, for always, forever.

submissions
Guns N' Roses – Sweet Child O' Mine Lyrics 17 years ago
Forgive me if this is cliche, and I don't believe it's the meaning of the song, but the first verses remind me of what I picture in live, just some of the feelings that one special person would inspire.

submissions
Interpol – Stella Was a Diver and She Was Always Down Lyrics 17 years ago
I read it mentioned in part.

She loses all self esteem, not sure if it says why.

She screws anyone who wants it so she can make herself think she's being loved.

Eventually... she breaks away. Just think about it for a minute.

She's catatonic from depression. Just lies there and pretends until she can't pretend it anymore.

Well, she ends up dead, of course.

I think "diver" is a metaphor for that act, of "diving" into mens pants to try and win some kind of affection.

I find it utterly depressing.

submissions
The Goo Goo Dolls – Black Balloon Lyrics 17 years ago
It sounds... like someone with their own problems trying to help someone they care about, when it's not doing anything to help their own problems. There's a lot of hints to heroin. (The black balloon, "ice from the spoon")

Either way... it touches your heart if you even barely know the emotions. I can't sing it for tearing up and choking.

submissions
Rammstein – Te Quiero Puta! Lyrics 17 years ago
It's a heavy rock band imitating a Mexican folk band with a German man screaming at a cheap lay in Spanish.

Not a whole lot to it. He's saying "I want you, slut" over and over. She agrees with him at one point. Don't want your heart, just your "lemonade".

submissions
Green Day – Jesus of Suburbia Lyrics 17 years ago
Huh?

It's about Suburbia.
The Jesus aspect being *Christian* Suburbia, as well as placing the singer's voice as one realizing it.

Middle-class American culture is a self-contained paradise fit only to create its own little world, separated from all else, (I.E. I don't care) where the population simply lives its own path of life without having to face what the 'real world' actually is. Soda pop and Ritalin is breakfast for most kids, they grow up, hang around doing nothing with life but mess with household things, fall in love and fall in debt, rinse and repeat.

The last verse. Saying "Fuck you!" to the very same and accepting that the world sucks ass instead of pretending it doesn't. Hurts like a MOTHER FUCKER, and there ain't a whole of comfort to be found in it, but it's really hard to jump back into the illusion after you do. Actually, you find hints through the entire song about the bullshit that goes on that gets ignored.

Second verse is just following up the verse, and making it apparent that it's more late-teens early-adults that he's talking about than anyone else.

Third is talking about the general apathy to the state of things outside of our own beautiful suburbia that you find in most of the same. It also throws in about idiot teens going out and pretending they're fighting against it all when it's just another excuse for teenage rebellion.

Fourth, it sounds like a cross between A, the singer asking whether he's onto something or just being a self-righteous douche, and B, actually contrasting the world you know to what you're seeing.

Not a teen angst story.

Fuel – Hemorrhage (In My Hands) Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm not sure what the real meaning of this song is, but it holds a unique one for me.

I've met someone I would be willing to really live for, but she has before and still contemplates taking her own life. She's in "love" with a man who treats her horribly, and she may not live to understand how I care for her.

She Wants Revenge – Black Liner Run Lyrics 17 years ago
For clarification, the references to anime and "smiling back in between asterisks allude to your "average 'net nerd" girl.

The kind of person who obsesses over their LJ and myspace page, you know the stereotype.

Nickelback – Rockstar Lyrics 17 years ago
So, as usual, being a hit among junior high kids and Christian audiences makes a band automatically suck ass.

Yeah, OK!

Alice in Chains – Rooster Lyrics 17 years ago
This song utterly seethes Vietnam.

Sounds like the mentality of an infantryman, and I agree, it was definitely inspired by his dad's war stories.
