Seems to be about a all night nicking spree, but also fits in pretty damn well for a date. Think it'ld be a mean song to play at the end of a concert, in an encore but of a tip ya hat at the crowd.

THis song is perfect the sweet green icing flowing down totally works. I been listening to it for about half an hour now and it still not getting old.
Well everybody said this already but I gonna say it as well, I think it about a man who loved and lost whether they broke up or she died or whatever he knows he'll never get over her. The whole Cake thing is just about that, like he put everything into that relationship and he'll never meet another her and now it all gone. |

Yeah I going with the death thing to. Just the line about burning mask and stuff. Sounds to me like they destroying the ship, you know no return once ya dead.
But then on the other hand it talks about death in ways that seem to conflict this such as "and no one leaves alive", seems kinda obvious if they are already dead.

I like this song I mean the females aint supberb but they don't wreak it or anything. I haven't got lapse of Reason but from what I have heard of it from Echoes while it does talk about Water it doesn't seem to be slights at him it even seems like offering the olive brach sometimes.
And really why is it that we have to either hate Water and love Gilmour or hate Gilmour and love Water because that seems to appear on every post Water song. Either Gilmour can't write lyrics or he writes them better than water it pointless he clearly can he proves it in songs like High Hopes and Learning to fly.
But then Water is great to. He took what Syd started and took it far. Why can't we love all Floyd from Syd to Gilmour because it all good.
PS I like this song personally I didn't at first but it grew on me. |

I think saying Syd wasn't insane is a bit odd he definetly completely broke down I mean he slowy detuned his guitar as he played at one gig. He was aware of what was happening but that doesn't mean he sane. Great song. It's an amzing look into the head of a man losing his grip on reality.
I think Syd's breakdown and now death is one of the greatest musical tradgeties ever. |

Ok last thing here this song is about death as well as madness. I read someone say this album shows a life well i agree with that. I don't think the album is about drugs and just because Syd did drugs don't mean they gonna mention them drugs weren't his problem his mental illness was. He had problems the drugs just made these worse. However the whole album is about insanity and the pressures of modern life and death (for me anyway). I believe the dark side of the moon is death from the lines "and if the damn...forbondings too" is ways of dieing then it say I'll see you on the dark side of the moon. Dark Side of the moon is in my oppinion whatever comes after death. Well i spacing out and I not on drugs so sorry for posting 3 times I just got to much stuff to say I guese I can't hold back it Syd dieing maybe thanks for reading hopefuly. |

Ok as promised ok about Syd he started band and did first album like wrote the entire thing he did. He was almost always on acid or LSD or some drug. He was probably had a mental illness that hadn't manifested the pressure of being famous and making it with Floyd plus the drugs broke him and he suffered his breakdown.
Any fan should check him out some of his music is really good I reccomend see emily play, bike and Jugband Blue. Also check him out at wikipedia it got a real good history. His influence is huge people say with otu him there would be no wall or wish you were here as they about him, well without him there would be no Pink Floyd he made them. They wouldn't have got their distinc sound and originality without him. Nevermind the fact that he formed them but he invented the Pink Floyd sound. He also inspired a lot of other artist like Bowie and The Damned. Yes he even inspired the punk who critised pink Floyd, his style of quick dissonant solos are seen as a major influence on punk.

Ok i probably gonna do like 5 post in a row as I read comments but first of all someone says in animals Waters takes away people right to decide what the songs mean for themselves.
Well Animals is animal farm set to music. It has got to be about animal farm that the point of the album. I really think it is unfair to blame him for this using animals as an example.
Also thios song is kinda about Syd. It just talks about being insane which Syd was. Apaarently Syd's breakdown Kinda inspired this album or at least contributed to some of the ideas in it. |

I think idiotic way back on page one had it right ( this maybe commonly said now I don't know can't be bothered reading all comments will later). I think it is a guy being utterly devoted to a girl saying he'll do anything for her (chorus) and trying to get her to like him.
Like the bit about the cloak he doesn't like it but she does so he then says oh ok i got it wrong it must be ok then. I think it just a love song a kinda almost freaky obbsessed love song but still a love song. |

Sorry to say WYWH but I think Syd had to lose his mind for Dave to come in. They brought in Dave because Syd was losing his mind and had started just wandering around during gigs at one stage he just randomly started detuning his guitar or woulkd just stare into space.
Apparently his work On Saucerfull of Secrets was on their really just to make him happy. Dave wasn't brought in as insurance he was brought in as a replacement. He played while Syd did whatever. |

I'm not trying to say this is another meaning of the song but I kinda saw it like a space oddity when I properly listened to it for the first time (a couple of hours ago). Lines like "no navigator to guide my way home" and others made me think he just wants to fly to his plane falls out of the sky. I think I only thought this because I was really depressed at the time but thought I'ld put it down. I pretty sure that not meant to be in there but it'll always be in the back of my mind, or front sometimes when I hear it.
But yeah it a great song some brilliant work lyrically if you ask me. A real jewl in the Pink Floyd crown maybe my favourite of theirs right now although that title does change every couple of days. |

Um simplycomplx it is about oppinions and meanings it doesn't have to be a bland monotone voice saying what the song means we can say what we think of a song. This is gona be long but please bear with me. I think it about a realationship not drugs. But then i can see how it could be about drugs but relationship was just my first thing this is what i think is happening He looking back in a day together that was nice you know going to zoo park movie etc. He's looking back on it and is depressed cause he know it not gona work it moght already be on the rocks or maybe he know he'll wreak cause he "bad" as he says. Thus the verses are sad. But the chorus is happy like when he with her or jusr after the you just keep me hanging on says she just keeps him from completly collaspsing into his depression or guilt or whatever or he wants to breakup with her but everytime he's with her he just can't do it so just keeps him in the relationship. Then the you going to reap what you sow is saying in the end it'll end badly as the realtionship will end and he'll be crushed and all and she will to so that why it so sad. But yeah that was my long winded and over the top anylsis of this song :). |

He is one of few peoples who can bring me to tears almost but still only a couple of things Joe been one have brought me anywhere near tears. He was awesome inspiring RIP Joe. I never got a chance to see him he died before i realised he excisted that still makes me sad. Oh well guese i just gota try to play awesome music so i can at least do decent tribute to him at some stage. He my hero his songs have actually lifted me from depressions minor ones but still i was down i listened to one of his songs (this is England) and by halfway i ahd a smile on my face. |
