Live – I Alone Lyrics 18 years ago
Producers of videos often decide what the theme of a video is, just because there were trees and snakes in the video doesn't mean that was the intention whent writing the lyrics. It would be nice if we could find some quotes from Ed on this subject.

Jesus was the greatest of teachers, not God from the Old Testement. I don't think this could be about Eden and Satan trying to deceive. Again, I think this is about Ed or the speaker trying to convince a woman that he is the only one she needs. Maybe SHE is a Jesus freak, and he's anoyed by it.

Live – We Walk In The Dream Lyrics 18 years ago
This whole album (Distance to here) is an awakening for Ed. He has found that faith is a good thing, and that God and Jesus truly do walk with him. While this whole song may not be about religion, the first couple of lines are a "part II" to "I alone" . He says, "I was wrong, we are not, these bodies alone". Why do you think he would say "I was wr ong"? He is stating that when he said "I alone love you" and "The greatest of teachers won't hesitate to leave you there by yourself" that he was very mistaken. Distance to here is his appology to God, and hes proclamation to the world that he has found something new, or renewed something he had once lost.

No disrespect, but I think all if not all of you are WAY off on this song's meaning. Yes, it is talking about Jesus, and Christianity, but AGAINSt Jesus, and AGAINST Christianity. He's saying, "You need me baby, cuz no one, not even the greatest of teachers won't hesitate to leave you alone." When he's saying "I alone love you, and I alone tempt you" he's saying that either there is no Jesus or Satan, or that they don't care or don't matter. The proof of this meaning can be found later in the discography in "Distance to Here" in the song "We walk in the dream" where Ed says "I was wrong. We are not these bodies alone in a dream with a mind of its own." This album is the first time Ed has acknowledged his either newly found faith in God and Christ, or his renewed faith. He was obviously very skeptical of Christianity and critical of it in the first two albums, and then the third was kinda neutral, but the forth, fifth and sixth albums have been very Christian indeed.

Dream Theater – Never Enough Lyrics 19 years ago
I was not a big fan before TOT, so I definitely got into DT BECAUSE they started to play more heavy stuff, but now I'm finding an appreciation for the softer stuff too. But I've heard some older guys (30s,40s) who love DT, but hate TOT and the heavier stuff because they see it as selling out. They played at DTE in Detroit, and the show did not sell out. SO much for them selling out !! LOL.

Dream Theater – Octavarium Lyrics 19 years ago
another reference to other bands and famous progressive rock songs is the way that the intro eases into the main song extremely slow. They've GOT to be giving a shot out to Pink Floyd's "Shine on you crazy diamond". Listen to them back to back and you'll see what I mean.

Dream Theater – Sacrificed Sons Lyrics 19 years ago
I still think DT are faithful, if not actually religious to some degree. They are simply stating how illogical it is to believe that any diety would want you to harm his/her own creation.

Only question I still have about this song is what do you think they mean by "All praise their sacrificed sons"? Are they mocking those who say such things?
