Bachman-Turner Overdrive – Blue Moanin' Lyrics

Just like the whole of this album (Not Fragile), this is such a driven song. I mean musically driven by fab riff and bass and drums in unison, with some superb slide guitar subtly thrown in. Bliss |

David Bowie – Here Today, Gone Tomorrow Lyrics

Someone very kindly rated up a comment I had made on this, so I revisited the comment and saw that someone had altered the composers names to the Ramones - who have a different song with same name - although David Live was released in the same year the Ramones formed (spooky!).
This version was written by the Ohio Players themselves. There are a few different songs with this title, not suprisingly, as it is such a good phrase. |

Fair do's for Metallica covering a lot good stuff when they do covers. Unfortunately, some of us are old enough to remember the original. Awesome simplification and power. This track just makes me smile enormously. |

I'm suprised no comment yet. Such a fabulous production, all brass and orchestral, with a beautifully haunting piano line. |

Mike Garson & his piano again!! Such a powerful, running right hand through the first two verses, then mix it with Mick Ronsons' acoustic guitar, then finally the majestic, electric sustained chords. |

Is it about the time he spent in California, before his first album, and could the "great song traveller" be Neil Young?
I may be wrong, but I think he stayed with Neil Young when CSNY got together, but don't take this as gospel. |

Everyone always focusses on the lyrics - that is not all the track - the music, the feel, the nuances of the structure - never mentioned, focus on the music |

Is this the first evidence of sampling?? "Gimme Some lovin'" clearly in the middle. Bowie is regarded as a leader in many things, has this claim been made before? |

Bruce Springsteen – Backstreets Lyrics

Music & lyrics by Bruce Springsteen. Is this true? If Bruce wrote the piano part to compliment the vocals & guitar & bass, plus the sax part, it's genius at work.
Did Bruce write all of this, for the E-Street band to just dutifully follow, or did they embellish their parts to make the songs come alive?
Please help on this query |

Bruce Springsteen – Spirit in the Night Lyrics

It's amazing what listening to a different live version can do to an interpretation to a song. After listening to the Winterland '78 version, I could only think of Van Morrison as having written it, or at the very least, singing it.
Never got this from any version I have heard, but this jumped out at me |

I just adore the rawness of the instruments - meant to be a very basic, very Hammond organ driven - the bleak, vacant areas - just wonderfully artistic |

I am the second verse - but the end credits of The Warriors does the song much more credit - grow up on the shore, & appreciate it - it's fab |
