Cream – Strange Brew Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Very smooooth song; you know, a song that you have to play in your car, very loud, windows open and left arm through the window ;) nice mix of blues and rock ! Cream is an underrated band you know ! Discovered this great song because it's played in the wonderful movie 'A bronx tale' by and with Robert De Niro. It's magic ! ! ! |

Jacques Brel – Ne Me Quitte Pas Lyrics | 19 years ago |
NO comments ?! Ok, I understand, this is an American site and most of the members are American as well probably, so they don't know the song.. (and even if you Americans would recognize the song: you guys wouldn't understand a word ! We all know that Americans only speak 1 language, their English) I come from Belgium, and so is the singer, Jacques Brel. In Belgium they speak Dutch and French. Brel was a french speaker, I am a Dutch speaker, but I understand and speak French véry well. In Belgium, this song is chosen to be the best song made by a Belgian, even better than 'Dominique' by the Singing Non (that number was on 1 on your billboards in the sixties, Americans !!) It's a very tragical song, with piano and also a bit violin. 'On a vu souvent Rejaillir le feu De l'ancien volcan Qu'on croyait trop vieux' => these lines are just soo powerful ! Astounding! O yeah; Ne me quitte pas means Don't leave me (alone). |
Simon and Garfunkel – Mrs. Robinson Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Love the intro of this song; it's so magical, with the acoustic guitar and when simon & garfunkel go 'ti ti ti to to to'. Lovely ! This song makes me calm down. O yeah, S & G sing this song wonderfully !! Their voices are so sweet ! |
KISS – I Was Made For Lovin' You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hell of a guitar riff (in the beginning of the song you can hear it well), it sounds very cool. This is ROCK ! |
Cypress Hill – Tequila Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No need to shout, my man ! But you're absolutely right. |
Tony Christie – Amarillo Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, only three comments ?! I think this song deserves more. This song can make me happy: it has something special, magical, euforic in it. Very hard to explain, you have to feel it when you hear it. I heard this song for the first time when i saw a film on the internet in which a bunch of American soldiers in Iraq were dancing on this number.. Lovely song, It represents complete hapiness for me.. 'There's a church bell ringing hear the song of joy that it's singing' => greatest lines, really funny ! |
Ten Years After – I'd Love to Change the World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
@ straycatstyle22 : yeah you said it, i exactly thought the same when i listened to the lyrics. Amazing song. The mix of very quiet pieces (with acoustic guitar during the refrain for example) and very chaotic, wild pieces (electric guitar solo) gives this song a great tension: You think it is a quiet song but then you hear the guitar solo and after that it's quiet again and so on and so on.. Very convincing song. It perfectly reflects the situation of the end of the sixties among the youngsters. I'd love to change the world But I don't know what to do So I'll leave it up to you => this refrain is sooo actual, it always has been. Everybody wants to make the world a better place, in his own way. But because we all have other ways (because we all have another interpretation of that better world and so there's no unity) it's very hard to do; So what happens: you don't know what to do and you forget about it, hoping that other people will do it for you.. How dramatic.. |
Loretta Lynn – Stand By Your Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
A very tragical song; The woman doesn't really seems to be happy with her man. She has lots of problems with him, but although she stays strong and she holds on. She's very realistic: she knows that there ain't something like a perfect relationship, there always be some troubles, so the only thing she can do is to accept that fact and so she tries to make the best of it, because (i think) she still loves him ! This is a song with a lot of wisdom in it.. O yeah, i really love the voice of L Lynn ! |
The Doors – Wintertime Love #1 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
When i hear this song; i dream away. If there would be one song that could make me cry, it would certainly be this one. Unfortunateley, any can do that with me. Unfortunately.. It's very melancholic; it gives off a very special, melancholic, nostalgic, cosy, warm, lovely, though a bit sad, somber (wich song of the Doors isn't somber after all ! ;) ). Oh yeah; mind the wonderful organ work by Ray Manzarek during the second strofe and during the La, la. Its probably this that gives the song that strange melancholic, bit sad and somber emotions (like Ray's organ does in almost every doors song i thing). My favourite lines are 'Come with me dance, my dear; Winter's so cold this year', just beautiful. To return to the strange combination of feelings that this songs has in it (lovely, warm vs sad, somber) : That really fits with the lyrics: It's about 2 people that fall in love or are still in love in the winter. The winter actually is a sad, somber, depressing time in the year: cold, so everyone stays in his warm house and so there are less social contacts and people may get a bit lonely,.. Everybody knows what i am talking about.. But although, those 2 persons love each other and are very close and they feel warm when they are together.. => A warm relationship in a cold environment.. You can see: The sound of the song AND the lyrics have the same opposite feelings in it. This is a perfect unity between 'the instrumental (part of the) song' and 'the vocal (part of the) song'. I often sit down, close my eyes and listen to this song, i love it beacause it touches me. It touches me and i feel fine with it because i am not afraid.. One of the most underrated songs by the Doors ! |
Enya – Orinoco Flow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
LOL @ catherineks ! Yeah, now i listen a bit closer; it do sounds like that ! amazing song; the voices really 'penetrated' me; very spiritual; a real chilling song. |
Dan Hartman – Relight My Fire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hell a rip off ! I mean the title 'Relight my fire' ! Doesn't that title remember of the greatest hit of a four member band of the sixties from LA, California, that named itself after a thing which you can open and close, which is between to spaces ?? The band with a lead singer known for his drugs and alchohol addiction, called Jim Mor.. ?? What a shame ! |
