At the end of my 1st yr in uni, when we were coming to the end of our time in halls we were all in our kitchen getting ready to go out (drinking games etc for a few hours) my mate had a 90s cd on and when this song came on EVERYONE in the kitchen, almost 20 odd people were singing along by the 1st chorus, in harmony aswell! Since then this song has meant a lot to me, i liked it when it first came out, only one of a few good songs from BHN, but it has taken a whole new meaning for me since then, really defining a time in my life

one of the fery few good songs on be here now, the reason people slated it stylus is cos its shite, noel even said so, come on 'girl in the dirty shirt?!' probably their first attempt at a blues song, and not bad, the slide guitar from mr Depp definately adds something that would have been very conspicuously absent had noel tried to fill it. Good guitarist in terms of oasis, but on a grander scale, pretty lead fingered! Still cool song! |

I also agree with ElEyeZee, about the meaning. The video is completely lifted from clockwork orange (crap film!) Kubricks vision of the post mdern in his film is very much the same as what blur are saying in the song, about automation and things becoming less and less human and the effect this has on us. Its interesting that blur wrote parklife about how crap modern life is, and then sort of pleaded with the world not to change it anymore on this track. very good song, catchy and deep, cool! |

Chelsea, Bill hicks is probably the best stand up comedian ever, and the song is definately about one of his ideas, although he would probably be turning in his grave if he knew and artist like jem was singin about him like this. basically bills idea was that life isnt real and we are only the imagination of oursleves (can u smell the LSD too?) and thats what this song is about 'lifes just a ride' |

I think this song is about how people are let down by thier government, especially considereing recent events. Kasabian have a kind of running thing with communism, and that would seem to continue here. Basicalle saying the government are wrong (reason) is treason. not 100% but thats wot i get out of it, especially after seeing the video. Not sure if it refers to Us or Uk tho, possibly commy russia, isnt serge russian or somethin? Think the churchill thing was probably sarcastic, cant see them being big fans of his! Love th song + album! |

I prefer the 1987 version of this song, i heard the original version the other day and couldn't listen to all that corny organ crap at the start, once it kicks in its awesome, coverdales voice is impressive, but lends more than a little of its style to robert plant, now if hed have sung it.......... one can dream! Great song! |

I went to see oasis a couple of months ago in Milton Keynes, they were amazin, but i was gutted they never played this as its the only 'classic' oasis anthem on the new album (not that the album isn't class, but it doesn't have the same appeal live as earlier ones), im seein hem at V on sunday n i hope they play it then! Great song, great album, especially after the what can only be described as shite, of the last three. Reminded me of The End on Abbey Road first time i heard it for some reason, being at the end of the album n all, hopefully more of the same to come soon! |

This song is about how growing up under thatcherism in britain the younger generations were somewhat encouraged to idolise everything american, and as such when they found their voice they despised america, hence this song. You can hear the Beatles waving farewell to the world on this track. It sort of showcases each members talents, all three guitarists 'duelling', and even giving ringo(not even the best drummer in the beatles) a drum solo! After their whole career and the whole of what was arguable (definately , in my opinion) their best album, they lay down their life philosophy, the only thing that really matters, simply for everyone to see, brilliant! |

This is a great song, pretty sure its just about f**kin round woth ur mates when ur young, possibly a 'lad's holiday', still its one of those that u cant help sing along to, why are oasis widely considered to be the best band of the nineties when they cant come close to the musicality, songwriting or range of OCS? This song cracks me up, its definately just a throw away song, and yet the harmonies in it are amazing. i really like it wen it starts going a bit med, and apparently the noises like someone clearing their throat in the last verse are meant to be an impression of the bad guy (i want to say Brutus?!) from Popeye, needless to say they must have been pretty blitzed when they recorded this! love it! |

This is a brilliant song and is testiment to the range od songs the beatles could not only write but pull-off performance wise. Apparently the day he was to record it Paul didn't drink anything all day, brush his teeth or anything because he wanted it to sound as raw as possible, the result is an amazing performance! |

Dark side is the best album ever, bar none, and this is my fav song on it. Lyrically, its brilliant, not necessarily poetic, but blunt and succint in the way that only roger waters could be, however the best part of the track for me is when the guitar solo comes in after the first verse, a 'hair on the back of ur neck moment' if ever there was one, absolute class!! |
