I also recall someone saying it was about lsd. There was an acid called Orange Sunshine. See Calpton and Sunshine of Your Love or Donovan Sunshine Superman. I know many hate to think...but...it just may be Acid, though I recall at one point saying he didn't take alot of Acid. |

The Beatles – Junk Lyrics

A beautiful melody that I think Paul just never got around to defining lyrically. In interviews Paul often spoke of coming up with melodies and just putting any words that fit to the tune and then later working out the actual lyrtics. It always felt sad to me. |

The Beatles – Girl Lyrics

It was tit tit tit. george talked about them putting it in and nobody caught it. The "inhaling" sound is John taking a breath to sing "Girl, Girl". The producers heard it, turned the treble up and put it back in thinking it was a cool sound. They were smoking alot of pot then, but I think the inhaling weed reference is abit of a stretch. |

It is about the plight of African American women. In the 60's blacks were fighting for equality and women's lib was non-existent. So black women had NO voice. |

The Beatles – Day Tripper Lyrics

A "DAy Tripper' was a peson who hung with the cool folks and did the drugs, but on Monday morning took off the cool clothes and put back on the suit and tie and went back to the 9-5 world. Not a cool dude at all. It was a scornful song. |

The Beatles – Dear Prudence Lyrics

Lennon wrote it for Mia Farrows sister Prudence. There was supposedly an "incident" between the Maharishi and her-a not so holy- amorously attempted encounter. Prudence withdrew. When john fist wrote it it was "Maharishi what have you done you made a fool of everyone." John said he "copped out "by not keeping the original words. he was disenchanted with this man. |

Exactly right Regina. It is a positive song encouraging a connection between us all-old and young. Across generations...TEACH!!! Just a beautiful song. Now I thought the lyric was actually.."teach your children well, their fathers HEALTH will slowly go by. Not sure. |

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Eight Miles High Lyrics

Actually a Byrds song. David Crosby was in the Byrds before CSNY. I read that the song came about as a result of the band (Byrds) getting to ride in one of the first Lear jets and that it "tripped them out" man. |

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Wooden Ships Lyrics

I think it is at least partially about differences between us and yet that we aren't all that different at all. The "I can see by your coat.." I think is about soldiers, but I doubt Vietnam." I think they were singing about getting away from the "normal" world and to an ideal place-something like Walden II. Just my 2 cents. PS Love this song.
The part about the first stanza being taken from a church sign is VERY COOL. Ya gotta love that stuff.. |
