Why do so many disagree with the meaning yet like the song? It doesn't make sense. I'm a musician through and through, but this song is definitely not about the music. It's about the message. One I tend to agree with very much. Every time I hear someone saying, Go Bush, I support the Iraq war, etc, I think (or tell them) Then why don't you go over there and die? If they really wanna die for a corrupt cause, then by all means, go ahead. Just don't drag more reasonable people into it. |

Wow what can I say. I gotta say that IMO Eminem is not a musician. But he is a poet, and a good one at that. The reason I say this is he posesses the greatest quality of a good poet: the ability to express his deepest beliefs and feelings. Some people think that just because he is vulgar as hell, that makes him a no-talent ass-clown. I think it's just part of the way he expresses himself and fits what he's talking about usually. Part of the time he actually is refering to things that matter or affect people, things that are wrong in this world, or things that you think deep in the back of your mind but don't let to the forfront of your thoughts because they are so scary/true. I don't really know how I can express why I like him, or why I like complete opposites (rush compared to eminem). I like emimem(marshall, whatever) because he's just a complete clown, though not really in this song. This song is still good, though. |

Go ozzy! I love this song, it just kicks ass and is an anthem for potheads. Wish we had this kind of freedom of speech today without being persecuted by ignorant right-wing "dopes" (lol pun). Pot is not chemically addictive--that's been scientifically proven. There is also no scientific evidence linking it to any illness even with long-term use, including cancer. It doesn't make you dumber or lazy (lame stereotype). If you're dumb or lazy, that's just the way you are. My GPA is over 4.0 and some of my fellow potheads have about the same. Every study I've come across seems to agree with this point. You can find much of this info at sites like Marijuana.com and Erowid.org. This is just my basic argument. The best argument for it of all though?--gettin stoned is fun :D Toke it easy, guys, and keep on smokin' y'all. |

It ain't what they call Rock n' Roll. And the Sultans... yeah, the Sultans - they play Creole. (Creole) I love this stanza, especially the middle; it just somes up how close-minded most young people can be. I happen to like Jazz and Blues a lot. There's just too much emphasis put on image and not nearly enough on quality of music. Love the guitar work in this song, too. 17 here, my bands are rush, zep, floyd, etc. |

The opening riff was the first thing I learned to play on bass. It was so easy, but I played it over and over: 0 3 5, 0 3 65, 0 3 5, 3 0. Now I play more difficult things like Rush (Go Geddy!), but I'll never forget how many times I played that riff. One other thing, I love how the chorus sounds like he means a bong hit--people caught the smoke on the water part, but fire in the sky seems like the lighter lighting the weed, which is located above the water chamber. It makes me want to take a huge bong hit. Its actually funny it came out like that when that wasn't what he meant, but that's one of the great things about music. It can mean different things to different people. |

ALL HAIL JOHN PAUL JONES!!! I love playing blues on my bass, and I play this masterpiece of blues bass all the time. It's like a 7 minute killer bass solo. I love it!!! There should be more songs like this where the bass is prominent and well done. Also the funniest Zeppelin lyrics I've heard. |

You guys are right. It beats the hell out of today's "Power Chord formula" as I call it, which is playing a couple loud power chords over some repetitive, dumb lyrics. No guitar solos or interesting bass parts. How about you sing about something deep or remotely meaningful? Don't even get me started on rap... Anyway, 17 here, and me and my friends love the Zep, Rush (obviously), Floyd, etc. And Tull. It's nice to see more people my age that feel the same. |
