Bibio – You Won’t Remember... Lyrics 11 years ago
Unbelievable song, easily my favorite by him. I feel like it could mean a lot of things (and that's probably what he intended), but when I first read the lyrics I immediately thought of a loved one in an accident of some kind.

"In his chair at night, he can’t clear his mind"
Waiting for someone to arrive who's running late

"Silence hurts, no-distractions-ache
Then he gets the call and he drives for miles"
After waiting in silence, gets the phone call that the loved on is in the hospital and drives miles to get there

"He’d like to tell you that he wanted you"
Either he never got the chance to say how he really felt or he wished he had one last chance to say it again

"He sees you but you don’t see him
In your bed at night, in your line of sight"
In the hospital room, loved one is in bed and can't see him sitting at the side of the bed even though he's right in the line of sight

"Silence sings and his ears will ring
With that final bleep, he can’t fall to sleep"
Possibly the final "bleep" of a heart monitor before the loved one passes away?

"You won’t remember but he wanted you"
Maybe the loved one's long-term memories have been destroyed by the accident and won't be in a state to remember him

"He’d like to tell you that you’re haunting him."
:(

Again there's a lot of ways this song could be interpreted, but that was my initial reaction. Keep up the amazing work, Stephen!

Green Day – 21st Century Breakdown Lyrics 14 years ago
Not to be a buzzkill, but I can't let a blatant historical inaccuracy pass by like this. George W. Bush was not "pushed out of the white house," his term naturally expired and a new president was elected. In fact, George Bush was RE-ELECTED for a SECOND TERM only two months after American Idiot came out. Though American Idiot might have brought up a lot of issues that many American youth were unaware of preivously and might have politically influenced them in ways that they would not have been otherwise, you're overrating the actual effect that one album had on a very complex political culture.

Coldplay – The Goldrush Lyrics 15 years ago
Anyone else kind of get the feeling that this sounds a bit like a very, very early version of life in technicolor? Maybe its just that it has similar chord progression at the chorus, but that's what i thought first time i heard it.

U2 – Winter Lyrics 15 years ago
This song was one of the last to be cut from No Line On The Horizon, and was still used in the Anton Corbijn film "Linear" that was released with the album. It will likely appear on the next album, "Songs of Ascent," due out late 2009 or early 2010. There aren't any official lyrics out yet and this was the best I could decipher, so when the official ones come out I'll make sure to change them.

From a lyrical standpoint, it seems like it's describing a man's crisis of faith, which would fit in with the overall pilgrimage theme of the upcoming album. It never really goes anywhere but I really love the sound of it. What do you guys think?

U2 – No Line On The Horizon Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow, what a perfect opener for No Line On The Horizon, just as inspirational an opening track for me as Zoo Station. I'm not very clear exactly what the lyrics are supposed to mean though, I want to hear what some other people think.

Radiohead – Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow, kida0002 I never noticed that! I listened to LP5 again today and especially closely to under boac, and I certainly can see some strong resemblances. Radiohead were really into Autechre and other IDM at the time, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were inspired in part by it. Both are amazing songs and have phenomenal beats.

Nine Inch Nails – Lights in the Sky Lyrics 16 years ago
"everything they whispered in our ear
is coming true"

Anyone else think that this kind of fits in with Year Zero, referencing the government perhaps?

"try to justify the things
i used to do"

Maybe it can be seen as him trying to justify his old life in the face of the oppressive policies of the new ultraradical government? I know it's a weak connection, but it might be interesting to anyone looking to connect the Slip w/ Year Zero. Lights In The Sky=The Presence?

Moby – Great Escape Lyrics 16 years ago
Does anyone else think that the music bears a strong resemblance to "So Cruel" by U2? Maybe it's just the chords, but the first time I heard this song that's all I could think. Great song though, I agree with hybridcritter on the lyrics.

U2 – Are You Gonna Wait Forever? Lyrics 16 years ago
Wow, this is one of those times that I feel like bono's speaking to me specifically through his lyrics. There's this girl that I've adored for a really long time, and just up until recently she was with someone else. Now she just became single, and I have to get my act together because she leaves forever this summer. Now I have to "get out from under my bed, and say the things I should have said, now."

It's amazing how sometimes U2 lyris describe my life to a fine point. I guess bono's just that amazing...

Radiohead – Last Flowers Lyrics 16 years ago
Easily one of my favorite radiohead songs of all time. The version on the diskbox makes me almost cry every time i hear it. absolutely amazing. I think the meaning of the song fits in with the overall theme of OK Computer and the theme of Stanley Donwood's original artwork style for the album, which is exploration of suburban life. To me its jsut the everyday grind of going to work, school, whatever day after day with no chance of escape, kind of the opposite narator as the guy from Pakt like sardines who seemed to be content with this lifestyle. Amazing song by any means.

Definately my favorite ayumi song. My favorite J-Pop song of all time, if not my favorite pop song of all time as well. Love the acoustic orchestrael version and the demo version on Ballads the best.

Sigur Rós – Von Lyrics 16 years ago
How has nobody commented on this song after all of these years? Von is easily my favorite Sigur Ros song of all time. And I'm not talking about the new version that has the honor of appearing on both disks of Hvarf-Heim, although that version is great in its own right. I'm talking about the title track to Sigur Ros' little-known debut CD. Von is the icelandic word for hope, and thats exactly what this song is. In my opinion, this song is what would be happen if someone turned the concept of hope into a sound. This is the sound that hope would make, this song. It just grabs down deep into you and just takes full control of you when you listen to it with a clear mind and headphones in a dark room. The song begins just as mystically as it ends, and as it progresses it takes you on a trip of reflection and ultimately contemplates the future. The kind of hope that this song is about isn't grand "no one stand in my way i'm coming to take on the world" hope, but instead simple intimate stripped down hope, the very core and essence of the concept itself. This song is the kind of hope that people have stored up in them when everything is wrong and need to be reminded that there is still something left to keep them going and that tomorrow just might be better. This is what this song means to me, the very core of this song. I dont know if theres anyone else out there that thinks this, but i urge everyone to listen to this song, the original recording on their first album, and give it another chance. Let it take control of you, let it fill up your entire being. Maybe you'll find the same kind of hope that I did .:-)

Wow, its so hard to listen to this song with the bass cranked up and my cheap as free 70's sound system and not get up and start dancing around. What a freaking amazing song, I absolutely adore the dirty sounding synth at the beginning and Phil's drumming absolutely rocks. I agree with abandonshape on the lyrics piece too....

The Smashing Pumpkins – Tarantula Lyrics 16 years ago
I kind of feel like this song is very similar in theme to the Everlasting Gaze, that "No, I'm not dead, we're back."

"We are the real
If real ever was
And just because
We are the real
They feel we have enough
We are the real
'Cause someone gave us up"

Pretty much dismissing all comments that this reunion band isn't legit and that its just a cheap profit ploy.

"I don't want to be alone
I don't want to be alone
I don't want to be alone at all
If it's a white hot soul they want
Then a black heart they'll get"

To me, both Billy saying that SP is back to stay and kick some ass, and that he'll put out whatever the hell he wants, regardless of what people think of him. Let's just hope they actually stay together this time.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Bleeding the Orchid Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm starting to think that they should have named this album "Machina III/Zeitgeist." It has so many of the same themes of the machinas, which revolved around how BC perceived the way his fans and the media thought about him. Even though a lot of this whole album is supposed to be about the current political climate, I think theres just as much of that theme as there is the theme that threaded the machina albums (Machina I in particular).

The Smashing Pumpkins – (Come On) Let's Go! Lyrics 17 years ago
I find this song very similar to 7 shades of black, my second or third favorite off of Zeitgeist. Even though this may not be one of my favorites off of the CD, I thoroughly enjoy listening to it, especially the bridge part that shows up from time to time. Again though, not a particular fan of the lyrics, as I fins them a tad too angsty for my taste.

Wow. Even though this is supposed to be one of the "filler" songs on the album, I personally currently enjoy this song more than both Tarantula and Doomsday Clock, and nearly as much as Way My Love Is. I love the way it rocks and the beat to the song, just absolutely amazing. Not a big fan of the overly angsty lyrics, but you can barely even hear what he's saying anyway. ^_^

The Smashing Pumpkins – Doomsday Clock Lyrics 17 years ago
This song absolutely rocks. I'm pretty sure that no one really needs to be explained the meaning, as Billy makes it pretty clear throughout the course of the song. Although the lyrics borderline on being too politically weighed down, I think that it's fine as long as the rest of the album isn't too much. I can't wait to hear it in Transformers and as the opening song for Zeitgeist!

Oh, and I know that there's thousands of you out there that this song/Zeitgeist doesn't sound like "real SP," but how much did Mellon Collie sound like Gish? How much did Siamese Dream sound like Adore? This is just a new SP era, like it or not.

U2 – Window in the Skies Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow.... this is one of the most bizarre songs U2's ever written, right up there with "Hold Me Thrill Me" and "Numb," but obviously not for the same reason. It's bizzare, it sounds like a cover of a 70s pop ballad that you'd hear as a b-side or something. The closest they've probably ever done to that is probably the album Rattle and Hum or the song "Red Hill Mining Town" from Joshua Tree. Regardless of the wierdness, its a great song, and I actually wouldnt mind an album of that kind of sound (note the singular, I wouldnt want them going that direction for too long, or they'd probably lose the sound I love them for). Can't wait to hear the new album!

I heard this song off of a... well... "sketchy" site, and I have to say that I can't get it out of my head. I love its awesome syncopated drumbeat (that reminds me of idiotheque somewhat) and I like the part at the end with the synths. I hope it makes it on the album! ^_^

U2 – Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car Lyrics 19 years ago
Though I think it's most likely sung from the perspective of the devil, I think it could also be about East Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

"You cry for mama, and daddy's right along "
East germany looking for help from Mother Russia but West Germany coming to aid instead

"Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car"
Daddy (Germany) is going to pay for the East's crashed economy

Plus, the "crashed car" could also be seen as referring to the Trabant, the East German-made car that thosands of East Germans abandoned at roadsides (crashed) when the Berlin Wall fell.
