Oasis – Acquiesce Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about seeing how many more times Oasis can use the phrase "There are many things
That I would like to" in a song.

wow, didn't know that. You may be right. Either way, I think my interpretation is fairly accurate, regardless of who's writing it. The first verse is definitely in the past and the last first is in the present. So there is kinda of a progression of some sort because "it ain't like that anymore.

The Mars Volta – Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus Lyrics 18 years ago
In the end of the song, they have some sort of recording on the side of the road. You can hear cars passing by. And you can also hear kids playing. At one point, some female says "stop playing that game" and another point you hear, "you guys get out here right now"

Umm, you are innocent until proven guilty. And, you also need to stop reading propoganda and saying "There is no proof to verify that Mumia shot the cop. He's innocent."

4 eyewitnesses testified it was him who shot Daniel Faulkner. Ballistics testified the bullet that came from Faulker was from Mumia's gun and the bullet Mumia had removed at the hospital was from Faulkner's gun. 3 witnesses at the hospital also testified that Mumia claimed he shot Faulkner while being treated at the hospital.

Now, the question is, are those 4 witnesses, the ballistics, and 3 hospital witnesses all part of 1 big conspiracy, or did he just plain shoot a cop that probably shot him as well. The simplest explanation tends to be the correct one. Mumia and his brother chose to not testify or aid in any investigation. People who hide something are usually guilty.

I love RATM, but Mumia is a scumbag and deserves everything he got.

Sparta – While Oceana Sleeps Lyrics 18 years ago
This sounds like the ATDI breakup to me...

"It makes me miss my friends"
"You wasted days, I hung my head", all the work they did

"We will be heard, our voice is strong
You shamed yourself
And we're done with you, done with you"

Sounds like he feels they shouldn't have broke up but either way, he's done with them and the sound Jim Ward wants will still be heard, despite the fact that Omar and Cedric abandoned it.

Rage Against the Machine – Darkness (Of Greed) Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, as much as I like RATM, the AIDS comment is just ridiculous. Every year this country spends billions and billions of dollars to fight AIDS.

And FYI, there are already cures for AIDS. They are just not economically practical or feasible for a large population. They require 24 doses a day... There is a reason Magic Johnson isn't dead. He takes state of the art drugs. Not everyone can afford this.

However, Rutgers University has now developed economically feasible AIDS drugs that are effective against every and all possible mutations of the AIDS virus. The main problem with the other AIDS drugs is that they cannot fight off other mutations and the AIDS virus is highly mutagenic. However, there is a cure for AIDS and it has been found. It's only a matter of time (a very short time) before we are free of this problem.

Alice in Chains – Hate To Feel Lyrics 19 years ago
interesting note: the "old man" line is a reference to the time he was reunited with his father. During that time, all they did was do drugs together.

Alice in Chains – It Ain't Like That Lyrics 19 years ago
It's about a cycle of suffering. Whether it be drug addiction, injury or what not. Then, you get better, and try to write about it, but it's not real anymore because you aren't suffering. Layne probably wishes he wrote something during some ordeal and when he tried to after, it just wasn't real enough.

The first verse is about him actually suffering. Probably in rehab during detox (Screaming & Sweating on the table).

The second verse is more about what you do when your hurting. He only goes out when he's able. When he goes out, he's struggling so much that it makes him sore. And, he doesn't forget what happened to him before. He probably wants drugs to relieve his pain. Even though he's acting happy, he's crying inside (behind the smile a tongue that's slippin).

Finally, he decides to write about when he was on drugs. He can't come up with the words he wants to, because it's not in the moment(in my eyes, what I'm lacking). So he slacks off and writes something that's not as real as it should be(score at face, a ten for slacking). But, he's gotta write a song because that's how he makes a living (sign the deal, set in motion). That's what the smaller fish (every other band) would do. But there's so much of that (so huge the ocean). But guess what...it's a cycle he's been in, and he's never gonna be in it againbecause "It Ain't Like That Anymore"

Consequently, Facelift is when Alice in Chains was no longer a smaller fish and rather than write while he's not suffering...Layne turned to drugs and probably wrote all of Dirt and the rest of his albums while under the influence.
