The Stills – Allison Krausse Lyrics

azyne, "which version" refers to the two different types of virginity. it is kind of controversial, but some people believe that they can become born-again christians or whatever and be cleansed of their sins, being innocent, like a virgin again. obviously, they aren't physically virigins, but i think it's more of a psychological virginity, as in, they believe that they are virgins again. the other type of virginity is well, being a virgin. at least..i think that's what he's referring to? |

Elvis Costello – (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes Lyrics

this song is OBV about suicide.
"And I won't get any older, now the angels wanna wear my red shoes." this woman left him ("she said drop dead and left with another guy") and he doesn't want to live anymore because the angels that "want to wear his red shoes" have tempted him with death. |

Otis Redding – (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay Lyrics

i completely agree..it is definitely not a feel-good song. its comforting 'cause it's an oldie, maybe that's where people are coming from? who knows. anyway, awesome how music can still fit so well even though everything around us changes. |

Pedro the Lion – Be Thou My Vision (Hymnal cover) Lyrics

i dont think it does the original one justice either..i mean, i've sang it out of the hymnals and it's an absolutely beautiful hymn.
this is a bit unrelated, but does anyone know exactly what genre pedro the lion is? before i got really into them i never realized that they had so many songs with religious (christian) focuses.. |

R.E.M. – The Wrong Child Lyrics

wow, this isn't so uplifting..
obviously, this song is about a disabled kid who's watching the other kids play and thinking that he never will be like them. his mentality is so uplifting, though "I'm not supposed to be like this but it's ok" |

what version isn't live? the only one i know of is on "tonight not again: live at the eagles ballroom." just curious.
sighh, ive been listening to this dude for almost three years now; his songs never get old..i'm always re-discovering them. amazing. the fact that his lyrics make so much sense in such an abstract way, that you just know that he knows exactly what he's talking about..it's really incredible. and comforting. |

"the maybe youll get what you wanted.." part is my favorite too. i think it deals with the uncertain, it seems like a lot of the songs on x&y are. considering x&y stand for the unknown in science and math, it isn't that surprising.. |
