Brand New – Untitled Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I can hear "I could never live here" "I could never leave her" and "I could never love her" Really, I almost would rather not know. Makes it more fun to listen to. |
Brand New – Daisy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"i'm an ocean nothing floats on" I don't think it's on purpose, but I like this line because a couple of their songs have a modest mouse feel in how the lyrics are sung, and two of their bigger songs were float on and ocean breaths salty.. haha |
Brand New – Jude Law and a Semester Abroad Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Jude Law & A Semester Abroad In the movie CLOSER, Natalie Portman leaves her boyfriend in the USA by saying "I don't love you anymore. Goodbye." She meets JUDE LAW when she gets hit by a car in europe. The story is about Portman and Jude law, with only a reference or two to her ex in the USA. Brand New took the viewpoint of the boy in USA when they wrote this song, telling his story through their own experiences. That's my interpretation |
Thursday – Telegraph Avenue Kiss Lyrics | 16 years ago |
low f-i-d-e-l-i-t- why do all love songs turn out this way? |
Thursday – Sugar in the Sacrament Lyrics | 16 years ago |
when someone innocent, in this case someone who had faith, starts making decisions that change their life. when it comes down to deciding between the feeling of belonging you get from sex, vs the abstract belief in god: "this is all we've ever known of god, fight with me, let me touch you now" after you start doubting it's hard to look at your faith the same way afterwards. this song kind of defines my transition between high school and college, it's really emotional. |
The Beatles – Girl Lyrics | 16 years ago |
it's about a girl he fell for who is likely vain and self centered. if he tries to compliment her, she doesn't appreciate it because she already knows how good she is. when his friends are around, she doesn't try to be the cute couple girl, she gives him a hard time to embarrass him. and when he feels he wants to leave she promises him the world, and he believes her although he knows it can't last.. and he doesn't regret being with her. yeahh well thats what i think it's about. and i think it's a beautiful song that is not about drugs, i mean this is clearly about a girl. it's called girl. hello? |
Taking Back Sunday – ...Slowdance on the Inside Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i'll give you the passed out in our school clothes line sounds like brand new (the line is from a love song), but the rest of the song i think of as just a love song in itself, it's got a very romantic feel to it. the "this glass house is burning down" part is just about how the world is crashing down around the couple but he doesn't care, he'll stick around if the girl does. not every damn tbs song is about john and jesse, not in my eyes at least. this is no follow the format. sounds like they aren't the best couple, (taking her for granted) (long night is a fistfight) ('you like me better on my knees) but it still feels alright. Well cross my heart and hope to... I'm lyin' just to keep you here. I'll keep you here. |
Jack's Mannequin – Bruised Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song makes me think like he and his girl got in a fight on vacation and broke up, perfection = perfect hell cuz the place is perfect but they fought and probably aren't talking. "Just one more plane ride, and it's done" = they're through after the plane ride. then on the flight home he's doubting himself, the plane is all he's got because it's his last chance to be with her since they've broken up... he doesn't want it to end but he knows it's over. the songs on the radio make him want to stay with her. then the bar part is about his friends wishing he'd start going out again and get over her and go have some drinks and have a good time. it could be interpreted thousands of ways but thats what i like to think.. it reminds me of my ex as we broke up not long after we went on a vacation together. |
Linkin Park – The Little Things Give You Away Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this song, it's musically a huge step for linkin park. great meaningful lyrics, and its also brilliant instrumentally.. especially starting at 3:15 'til the end of the song. obviously it's about Katrina as stated in the lyric book :) |
Brand New – Not the Sun Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i'll be wait?? no, it's definitely waves. and i kinda feel its "dont be technology, so i can't turn off your love like some cold machine." just my guesses. also i have a theory that he says babe and bait randomly throughout the song, sometimes it sounds like babe, sometimes bait. I think that's trying to say something on its own, bait referring to luca and babe is self-explanatory.. the mix of them is trying to show that she can either be there to bait him (pretend to love him) or actually be his babe |
Weird Al Yankovic – Why Does This Always Happen To Me? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
al's songs are meant to be funny but he's a smart guy with more to say than just humor. this song is funny, but at the same time al is making fun of our culture and how everyone is so obsessed with their own lives and how they let little things piss them off while ignoring the bigger picture. |
The Used – Sound Effects And Overdramatics Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's about a girl getting pregnant, them getting scared, and her getting an abortion. (cut it out / kill.) They are smiling because it solved their problem because they aren't having a baby, but at the same time are killing... hence the inner struggle. (kill/smile/cut it out). that's just what i think, either way this song is completely badass. |
Weird Al Yankovic – Close But No Cigar Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its not bad but its not one of his best. also.. its not a direct parody of a cake song is it? seems to me like its more of an original song, tho it parodys the style of cake kinda like "ill sue ya" sort of parodys rage. |
Weird Al Yankovic – Confessions Part III Lyrics | 17 years ago |
HOCKEY STICK! hahahah i love this song weird all is so ridiculous |
Weird Al Yankovic – I'll Sue Ya Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this isn't one of his best but it's a good look at how people want to sue for freaking anything these days.. i still find it pretty darn funny hahaha haha! what yall think of that? |
Thrice – T & C Lyrics | 17 years ago |
he says like a saiyan. read the cd booklet. =) |
Thrice – Creep Lyrics | 18 years ago |
amazing |
Breaking Benjamin – Breath Lyrics | 18 years ago |
'There's a minor mistake in this line. "Stop hiding" It's actually "Start Hiding"' FYI, small correction, in the lyric book it actually says "Start Hating" ;) |
Thrice – Image of the Invisible Lyrics | 18 years ago |
who cares if this song has any religious backing in the lyrics or not? Either way it's just a damn good song about rising up and standing for something. STAND FOR SOMETHING. If you think you're being wronged, stand up for yourself. You're not alone. |
Weird Al Yankovic – The Saga Begins Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this and jurassic park are two of weird al's best. I enjoy listening to this song almost more than watching episode 1! It sums the whole movie up so fun and quick it's just a good time. Love it. "And the Jedi I admired most, met up with Darth Maul, and now he's toast.." |
Thursday – Autumn Leaves Revisited Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this version is amazing. I still love the demo, but this one just has a magic to it as well. I'm glad I have both versions. The old one is great and this one definitely fits the album itself better. I love that riff after "it won't be long 'til we find our way home". I wish I could listen to 6 minutes of just that. I think this song's about a girl who's father died at war. One old lyric that works with it was "When he shoots, he sings this song, doesn't know that she's been singing it too." then of course the whole "did you hear the trumpets play the day your father died..." and the whole song has the metaphor of the father dying like the leaves do in autumn. And the daugter wishes it would always be summer so the leaves would never die and fall from the tree. (Like the dad dying, falling from the family.) just my thoughts. |
System of a Down – Hypnotize Lyrics | 18 years ago |
lol @ the liberal media line. the media is almost completely right wing now. there's as much if not more biased right wing media than left. that's just a common saying to discredit anything a liberal says and it's ridiculous. and bands don't tell people what to think, people have the right to believe what they want. If they agree with a band it will make the music stronger to them. don't think that any right wing person would hear this song and go "Ohhhh, if SOAD says it it MUST be true!" They aren't making anyone think anything. the song seems to be relating how people at tianemen square took action when they knew they were being wronged unlike americans who sit back and let the gov't run all over the constitution and mislead us into war without so much as questioning whether it's right or wrong. they've disguised their actions and mezmerized the simple minded into not giving a crap. |
Taproot – Promise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
a great love song. |
Senses Fail – Rum Is For Drinking, Not Burning Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this songs obviously just about being a mega-sweet pirate and ruling school. |
System of a Down – Soldier Side Lyrics | 18 years ago |
All the right points have been made i think (god wearing black = funeral) (soldier not returning the same as they were) (will they be saved now that they've murdered?) I have nothing to add, but.. I would just like to point out this song is not just about men going to Iraq. It's about any war. Think more broadly, not just in the moment. Don't think it's strictly about the men going to Iraq, though it includes them it's about everyone who's left for war. |
System of a Down – Lonely Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the war theory makes sense, and i think chaos could be right. "and if you go, i wanna go with you and if you die i wanna die with you" possibly relating to QUESTION!, (do we know when we fly (...) do we die?) Perhaps could be about their loved one who has gone to war, leaving this person as lonely as they can possibly be since they don't know if their loved one is alive. However, the i'm glad i survived line makes it seem like it is about the soldier.. so who knows. maybe a combination. |
System of a Down – Vicinity of Obscenity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
goliath definitely has some points. this song is definitely related to violent from mesmerize, and we are definitely a society who degrades women. if you've seen A: a rap video (many rock videos too.. i dont mean to stereotype. but have you SEEN how women act in most of these videos?) B: any alcoholic commercial, and most others too. (drink, you'll get the girl in bed in 20 seconds) C: Any porno You'll see that women are indeed treated as objects. The fact that women lower themselves to get 'done' by 10 men in front of a camera for a paying audience to sit back and beat the meat to is sickening if you actually think about it. (and people rarely think about it, meaning it's become the -norm- = we become desensitized) That's someones daughter, and that's her living. Is that what you'd want for your family...? It seems to connect that to the fact that obscenity is everywhere in the media. but enough people have touched on this i'll shut up. |
System of a Down – Tentative Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wars used to be about armies. Since bombs began being implemented, around when nazi germany started bombing the hell out of britain to try to crush their spirits, it's more about how many innocent lives can you destroy before the other gov't gives up. What did the people living in homes being bombed anywhere have to say about it? nothing - they just were living their lives, then got killed. Same with the atom bombs - it was predicted millions of military people would die in a d-day like invasion, so they opted for less casualties with the bombs - but killed helpless civilians instead. This accounts for terrorism, the fights against terrorism, and anyone who has had civilians bombed. go to www.iraqbodycount.net/ to see some interesting numbers and comparisons. (latest analysis is a nice place to start). It makes this song look oh, so brilliant. |

System of a Down – Violent Pornography Lyrics | 18 years ago |
serialphreak is on the right track.. nabisco is one of the two main advertisers in pornography. this song is talking about how people dont realize when they buy nabisco etc they're also supporting violent porn.. and how everything is interconnected and everyone has more than one agenda. http://www.forerunner.com/forerunner/X0399_Top_pornography_spon.html "betcha didn't know..." |
Grey Daze – Drag Lyrics | 18 years ago |
life is much too short to waste away but drugging yourself or by not enjoying yourself. and he's done both in his life. i love these songs cuz it brings out chesters voice and how good it is. he's apparently making a solo album soon though, so keep an eye out for that. =) |
Thursday – The Equation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
according to thursday's website, this song must be "At This Velocity", about a "plane crash on the other side of the world" The only one of the recently leaked demos which is actually close to the final version. it's not an ep as nolight said, just demos that leaked. still, they're pretty cool. this one's definitely a good one. |
Taproot – Dragged Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's basically how the only person he can ever turn to for help never turns to him. "i'm the only one to turn to me inside" so he feels unimportant and decides not to turn to that person, and just crys alone instead. in a way he really is dragging himself down, but in his eyes its his friend who is probably sick of his complaining. who hasn't been in that type of situation before. |
Deftones – Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I have to think it's about somebody's death, I don't think the "sex" idea fits the feeling, the mood. You think about them on the anniversary of their death, or of you meeting them, or their birthday or even yours. You can dwell on someone you've lost for a long time and gain no closure. "no more gold lights.." and "not since you left have the waves come.." shows how his life has been boring and emotionless since the loved one's death. "the bar is dead" just makes you feel how he's been drinking his life away and there's no excitement in it. "the rockets rain keeping you wet in your deathbed" I believe is both speaking about the person's death, and about how dreary the world has been since they passed away. and the way the song ends, without any resolution, with just the piano and the beat, makes you want to listen to it again. God, I love this band. |
Team Sleep – Your Skull is Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |
perhaps about him murdering someone, hence the use of the word "red" about their skull/clothes/lungs. And it feels gold, or good-almost satisfactory, because he's happy he did it. similar lyrical concept to "Digital Bath" if that's indeed what this is about. |
Team Sleep – Blvd. Nights Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's the second idea. the whole "take me apart" seems more emotional than physical. through the earth perhaps being the lust itself, and her not going to stop even though he isn't interested. i love the way he sings "you're not going to stop, i know how you are..." |
Team Sleep – Ataraxia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I like how it's a peaceful dream, and the song gives the feeling of nothing mattering except his lover and her singing. And at the same time, they're sinking below the sea, and she's still singing, and that's all that matters. Watching the waves together as they sink. |
Finch – Fireflies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song is apparently about being lost, (fallen away from friends/faith/love etc) and needing some "light" to guide you back. the 'fireflies' are the help he needs to help guide him back. thats my thoughts anyhow. finches new sound is more of an aquired taste. The average attention-starved emo middle schooler probably won't like their new music, however people who enjoy good, hard rock with tight screams, hard riffs, and cryptic lyrics will LOVE this new cd. that's me at least =) |
