Something For Kate – Coldwater Canyon Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I get that theme more from the feel of the song itself than the lyrics. |
The Dandy Warhols – Sleep Lyrics | 16 years ago |
There are certain songs that have a perfect balance between the lyrical content and the actual feel of the song. This is one of them. It's beautiful and peaceful, and it truly does place you in a world where you're quietly haunted by your own thoughts of love and companionship. In a sense, it's almost a melancholy lullaby. I would have to agree with what everyone is saying here though. You want to sleep forever and just forget it all, but you can't. And you don't want to forget because it went bad or anything, it's just the way circumstance played itself out. |
Foo Fighters – Summer's End Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Btw, it's "Bloody lips and cheery wine". I made the same mistake m'self. |
Foo Fighters – Summer's End Lyrics | 16 years ago |
What the hell, it sounds like nothing from anything on Songs for the Deaf... |
Foo Fighters – But, Honestly Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It also sounds like "I want one thing that I gave to you", not "I want one day that I gave to you" |
Foo Fighters – But, Honestly Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Should be "Don't take what I don't mean" not "Don't what I don't mean". |
Foo Fighters – Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Go Aussies! Yeah, one of the trapped miners was a giant Foo Fighters fan, so they sent down an iPod full of their tunes. Grohl heard about it and offered them tickets to their acoustic show in Sydney. After the show, they went and got plastered in a bar, where Grohl promised the guy he would put a song for them on the new album. I think he came up with this on the night, or soon after. |
Foo Fighters – Come Alive Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Also: "Lay me down in the dark Open my eyes" Should be "I lay there in the dark Open my eyes" |
Foo Fighters – Come Alive Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Every song monotone" - pretty sure it's "Every sound monotone" |
Foo Fighters – Come Alive Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Every song monotone" |
Foo Fighters – Summer's End Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Fantastic tune, wonderful lyrics, particularly the first two lines of the chorus. |
Songs: Ohia – Farewell Transmission Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oh, there's a couple of mistakes in these lyrics, notably: "The real truth about it is we're all supposed to try" Should be: "The real truth about it is No-one gets it right The real truth about it is We're all supposed to try" Most of it after that section is also wrong, I just didn't check the actual lyrics. |
Songs: Ohia – Farewell Transmission Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, it's one of my favourite lyric of all time. There's something about that image that's magical. |
George Harrison – Faster Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Three words: racing car driver. Harrison was a fan of cars, and these lyrics easily fit the story of a successful race car driver: the worried wife, the crowds, and the speed. Sometimes the simplest meanings are the best. |
Thievery Corporation – Lebanese Blonde Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow, surprised no one has mentioned Garden State yet... This song is ridiculously groovy. Same as the rest of the stuff on The Mirror Conspiracy. |
Gogol Bordello – 60 Revolutions Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ha, this is such an awesome tune. :D |
Elliott Smith – Son of Sam Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Its "lonely leered, options disappear", not "long revered". |
A-Ha – Analogue (All I Want) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Lay down your senseless pride" should be "Lay down your sense of pride". Chasing after love. Plain and simple, and a great tune. |
The Who – Who Are You? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah, was just wondering about that particularly lyric. :P I have the version where he sings (a few times actually) "Whoooo the fuck are you?". Strangely, no site seems to offer those lyrics. Great song though. |
Mando Diao – Added Family Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, whatever the meaning is, it doesn't diffuse the fact that this is one hell of a catchy song. I love the lyrics though. |
Five for Fighting – Easy Tonight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Heard this song on Scrubs. Awesome tune. |
Ed Harcourt – She Fell Into My Arms Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is brilliant. I'm surprised that only one person has commented! |
Ed Harcourt – She Fell Into My Arms Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is brilliant. I'm surprised that only one person has commented! |
The Dandy Warhols – Call Me (Blondie cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a cover of the Blondie song. This version appeared on the "Come on Feel the Dandy Warhols" album, which can only be bought from their website. Pretty sweet cover imo. |
Eels – Souljacker, Pt. I Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hahahaha, Gina Clocks. :P I think NaziRacist is pretty much spot on. Sweet music video too. |
The Dandy Warhols – Shakin' Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Heh. 'Tis a pretty slick song. |
Pete Murray – Class A Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Fun little song. Poppy, but still pretty good. Is it just me or does the main guitar riff remind anyone of the riff from Drive My Car by The Beatles? ;) I think its pretty obvious what this song is about - choices. |
Lazlo Bane – Superman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Same here, Scrubs is awesome. I suppose it'd be prudish to say I'm a fan of Lazlo Bane seeing as I've only heard Superman as a result of Scrubs. Oh well. This song fits perfectly with the show. Could not think of a better song at all. |
Eels – Sweet Li'l Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's pretty obvious what this song is about. Such a sweet/cute song. |
Mando Diao – To China with Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The song is still awesome, despite whatever meaning may be hidden within its cryptic lyrics. :P |
Elliott Smith – The Enemy Is You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Awesome tune. |
The Features – Me & The Skirts Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ha, thanks Hugh! :D Good song. |
Interpol – Untitled Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Totally agree. Well, not with the gyu suprise, I'd prefer a girl to suprise me. :P Anywho. This is such a simple song, yet it is extremly good. Very mellow and almost "tuned out". Great stuff. |
Songs: Ohia – I've Been Riding With the Ghost Lyrics | 18 years ago |
A good interpretation methinks. Great song. |
Foo Fighters – Walking A Line Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Its quite a heavy, powerful song imo. Fun to play. :D |
Elliott Smith – Wouldn't Mama Be Proud? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Excellent song. Elliott, you are still the master of brilliant music. |
The Dandy Warhols – Godless Lyrics | 18 years ago |
By the way, these lyrics are kinda wrong. Just a couple of little bits. Hey I said you're godless and It seems like you're a souless friend As spotless as you were back then I swear that you are godless Hey I guess you're lonely when I gave you all it took so then A stranger there is ever been I guess, it's what you wanted Ohh, it seems, lonely I would be I beg, I plead But this is all that I have gotten Hey as for the day my friend To hope that you could ever bend I swear you are, I swear you are I swear, that you are godless Hey I said you're godless and Hey and you're a souless friend Hey I said you're thoughtless And I swear, I swear You're godless You're godless You're godless You're godless |
The Dandy Warhols – Godless Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Fantastic song. Comparable to Good Morning in terms of the music itself (they follow the same chords basically). Brilliant stuff. |
Elliott Smith – Everything Reminds Me of Her Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Fantastic song. Nothing Elliott Smith has produced has been flawed in any way. Simply brilliant stuff. |
The Dandy Warhols – We Used To Be Friends Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is probably the best song on Welcome to the Monkeyhouse, which isn't exactly saying a lot. Their earlier stuff was loads better. |
Radiohead – Blow Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is Jonny's fav of Pablo Honey. My fav too, by far. An excellent song to cap off a great album. |
Radiohead – Climbing Up the Walls Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Radiohead's first distinctly "creepy" song: it has a strange beauty at the same time. Superb stuff. |
Radiohead – Just Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The riff isn't quite a rip-off of Smells Like Teen Spirit: the chords are completly different. I don't think that Nirvana is connected to this song in any way. |
