Metronomy – Trick or Treatz Lyrics

By the way here is what I'm hearing in the lyrics...
When I first saw you boy the other night
Checking out my girlfriends
Hanging with your boyfriends
I have to say that you were looking tight
I was checking out your dancing
Hoping that my luck was in
Won't you turn around
Have a look at what you're missing
Maybe we can do some kissing
Darling if you saw my treats
You'd fly so high you couldn't catch your feet
And baby when you look so sweet
You need some of my trick or treatz
Trick or treatz
Trick or treatz

"No one wants to dance, they're outside
Smoking cigarettes
Matthew was there, yes
He gave me the eye, saying, "It doesn't kill to try"
Then blue lights all around"
How is this referencing to homosexuality? This song is about him hitting on a girl named Eva at a dance club in Athens, Georgia. Matthew is giving him the eye saying ''it doesn't kill to try''... meaning he's telling Barnes to go ahead and try banging this girl Eva. Blue lights all around are just the blue lights outside of the dance club.. which by the way is called GO BAR |

Easily my favorite on the new album... I love how the song changes to suit the lyrical content.

I agree that this is their best record. HANDS DOWN. No arguments. No Ifs Ands or Buts.
I love their melody changes that happen so many times on this album.
And you can hear the songs even foreshadowing each other.
I think in this one it gives you a taste of Plastis Wafers which is later on the album. Or it might be the track before this. |

My friend from highschool just commited suicide and another friend told me it would be a good idea to pick a song and dedicate it to him to help me cope and for some reason this is the first song that I thought of before even knowing the lyrics or what it was about....
it's a beautiful song and it really expresses what it feels like to lose someone and that feeling of being lost and not knowing what to think of it.

This is a weird song to hear when you know Eva... and know Go Bar... and know the church with the swing.
Go to Athens, GA... Drive down Prince Street at night until you see the blue lights.
Chances are people will be sitting outside smoking cigarettes and not dancing... |

Broadcast – America's Boy Lyrics

I guess it could be about an American boy charming some european gal or something like that. But really all i see are a bunch of loose descriptions of the USA.
The line ''you are dean and me the queen'' is the only thing that strays out of that, since America doesn't have a monarchy it's the only line that could be in reference to something outside of the USA.
Plus the line ''gun me down with yankee power''
I don't know seems like a girl who is smitten with an american boy. |

I think this definition of ''baroque'' explains a lot about this song..
'''Baroque' applies to the final period of dominance of imitative counterpoint, where different voices and instruments echo each other but at different pitches, sometimes inverting the echo, and even reversing thematic material'' |

I think this is a very more emotional song.... Doesn't make me happy at all, when I hear it. But it is a great song. |

I really don't know what this song is about, but when I try to think about it, all I get is a picture of some girl traveling on train somewhere in Europe. |

I listened to this song for the first time on a road trip with my friend to Detroit..... and whenever someone asked what we should do we would always say "You can do anything you want, as long as it makes sense" haha.
We also met up with a guy named Dennis Johnson, so it was funny playing this song with him in the car. |

Arguing which version is better is pointless, because they're two different styles of music...
But this song is definitely a hit in my book. Love all the electronic beats and the hand claps =) |

Right.. Um. Sarah.. That's what I said.
The point of rest being the four notes at the end of the chorus. And the "cadence of what she says" being the chorus itself.
But yeah. We can still say that I didn't know what I was talking about. Since you obviously do. And use bigger words. :) |

That's exactly what I thought, Hotminx.
He's like trying to tell her to let her guard down because he's not just trying to get into her pantds and "score a touchdown". |
