On the first couple pages, so many people were bitching about how "Fuck your god, your lord, your christ" was sooooo offensive to Christians (and as a religion that has killed for their beliefs, I think it's OK to offend as many of them as we can, but that's another topic for another day). But you know what, the line isn't against christains. It's against any religion. Few people don't know the true definition of the word "christ".
Contrary to popular belief, it is not Jesus's last name. The word "christ" actually means "messiah"..so basically Jesus Christ means "Jesus the Messiah", it's not his name. Of course, when we hear the word "christ", we associate it with Jesus. "Fuck your christ" means fuck YOUR messiah. Whether it's Jesus, Mohammed, Moses, Buddah or whatever the hell else you believe. "Fuck your christ" means something completely different than "Fuck Jesus" would. Obviously, one can draw their own conclusions and figure out which christ Maynard is talking about, but before any more bible thumpers get their panties in a bunch, the line "fuck your god, your lord, your christ" is NOT targeted towards your religion or any other specific religion, just religion in general. |

I see some anti-bush in this song too. Not so much the chorous, but definitley in the verses. It seems like how he came along and destroyed everyone else's lives in one way or another. |
