Yellowcard – Rocket Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah the "two of us" is the first thing I noticed about this song cause I heard Inside Out first and that was my favorite part of the song. These two songs, for anyone who doesn't know, are on two completely separate albulms. Rocket came first. It makes me think that Inside Out is a post breakup song for the same girl for whom the love song Rocket was written.

The Don, have you ever actually listened to any TMBG carefully? Just about every one of their songs has a deeper (and usually dark) meaning. Sure you can find fun songs that don't actually have meaning (like Spider) but the vast majority are very clever and deep.

Weird Al Yankovic – I Remember Larry Lyrics 18 years ago
Should be noted that this song is a parody of the style of the song "see the constellation" by They Might be Giants. Interesting that, before I had heard of TMBG, my favorite Weird Al songs (I remember Larry, Everything you know is wrong) were both parodies of their style, and now I'm a big TMBG fan.

They Might Be Giants – Birdhouse in Your Soul Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm going to have to say that this song is a love song above all, to me at least. It was the only song I listened to for a solid day and it took me quite a while to work out an interpretation.

The narrator likens himself to a night light in the shape of a blue canary. His light, his vigilant filibuster, is his love. It is constant and unending and fights off troubles, or darkness.

He is in the shape of a canary for the whole reason of being able to say "make a little birdhouse in your soul" or, in more common terms, make a place for me in your heart.

It strikes me as a predating or postdating song, rather than a comfortable love song.

Yellowcard – Sure Thing Falling Lyrics 18 years ago
It's "fifteen lines" people. If you'll friggin actually buy the album you can just glance at the booklet. Yeah I agree burnzNFG about the church line being about getting married, but their entire relationship lacks depth (can be summed up in fifteen lines). The singer is definately singing about a girl with another guy.

Yellowcard – Space Travel Lyrics 18 years ago
Can anyone understand the 'astronauts' in the bridge?
I can get as far as:

What do we do now?
we wait.
Wait for what?
For her to come back.
I don’t think she’s coming back.

but then the music kicks in and I can't make out a word. This is my favorite part of the song though.

Yellowcard – Waiting Game Lyrics 18 years ago
No, it's a song about going through a breakup, but not wanting to, and just waiting for her to come around, and in the meantime, all you can think about is how much you miss her, and all the things that you did together, at the same time knowing that the only way that you'll ever have a shot at geting her back is to keep it all inside and just wait.

As for the spiritual interpretation, I'm almost entirely positive that that's not the original intent of the song, but I can also see how this song could be personally interpreted thus. Ergo, I could totally worship to this song. A lot like Echo by Trapt, which I personally interpret spiritually even though I know that's not how it was intended.

Someone who escapes my memory but I think it was William Golding or someone like that said that "interpretation just as much if not moreso lies in the hands of the reader as opposed to the author."

Yellowcard – Lights and Sounds Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is ok, I guess. Really the only reason I like it is how well it contrasts with the instrumental at the beginning of the album (the fade over is friggin awesome). But yeah, is anyone else getting really tired of hearing this song on all those cell phone commercials and crap? I venture to say that this is the worst song on the album. It gets old, but the other's grow on you. Still a good song; don't know what all the fuss is about.

Yellowcard – Down On My Head Lyrics 18 years ago
I've been listening to this song constantly. It's so great. I love how he switches the chorus in the end from "This is the world coming down on my head" to "I was the world coming down on your head." Definately powerful. Love it.

Way to represent, dnask8 (Rolls eyes)
Next time you try to make an intellegent argument, try your very best not to sound like a total idiot. I agree with your position, I guess, but, dude, the way that you said it was just childish and it reflects bad on all conservatives. Don't fit the stereotype.

Well wait, isnt it ryan who's singing the chorus? It sure would make a lot more sense that way.

Yellowcard – Back Home Lyrics 19 years ago
I had always thought it was "But they don't know me once your love is ripped away, before you get a chance to feel it." In which case, I thought the song was about coming back home after having a hard breakup and not having anyone be able to relate to you, emphasizing your loneliness.

Relient K – The One I'm Waiting For Lyrics 19 years ago
Well, the church is often referred to as the bride of christ, so it's not unusual for it to be granted feminine attributes. Also, the song seems to be about a girl, but that doesnt mean that it isnt about the church because the romantic experience is an analogy of our relationship with christ.
