War – Spill The Wine Lyrics
|
Here's the missing verse:
I thought to myself, what could that mean?
Am I going crazy?
Or is this just a dream?
Now, wait a minute, I know I'm lying in a field of grass somewhere
So it's all in my head
And then I heard her say one more time;
Spill the wine, take that pearl.
Spill the wine, take that pearl.
Spill the wine, take that pearl.
Spill the wine, take that pearl." |

Yes – Owner Of A Lonely Heart Lyrics

While this song is not as lyrically complex as earlier Yes songs, it is still an awesome tune. Considering this song reached #1, I don't know why Anderson should have anything to be ashamed about. |

Don't think this song needs any explanation. I've gotta agree with the song. Summer is definitely my time of year. |

Player – Baby Come Back Lyrics
|
"The worst line-though one really has to listen to the Gloria-Steihem-esque wail: "How I wish to God that you were here!!!""
Actually I love that line and think it's the best one in the song. |

The Beach Boys – Help Me, Rhonda Lyrics

"I was always told Rhonda was the name of his car"
That would explain why this song is on the Beach Boys Greatest Car Songs album. |

Bruce Springsteen – For You Lyrics

It's a shame this isn't one of Springsteen's better known songs. Manfred Mann's cover of this song is excellent as well. |

Manfred Mann – Blinded by the Light Lyrics

I've always heard the line "That's what they expect at least" as "That's where they expect it least". Don't know which is correct, but "were they expect it least" makes more sense to me. |

Genesis – Abacab Lyrics

Parberoo, you are correct. The correct lyrics are "Don't you think they'll find out", at least according to the Abacab CD booklet anyway. |

Neil Young – Walk On Lyrics

In the Decade CD booklet, Neil says this is his "defensive reaction to criticisms of 'Tonight's the Night' and the seemingy endless flow of money coming my way from you people out there". |

Neil Young – A Man Needs A Maid Lyrics

Even Neil himself agreed that the arrangement was a little over the top, however Bob Dylan loved it and convinced him to keep it the way it was. |

Mike And The Mechanics – Silent Running Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
To me, this song is sung from the point of view of someone up in heaven. Perhaps it's a man who has died and is trying to communicate to his wife or to his son/daughter down on earth, or maybe it's an angel. Whoever it is is guiding someone on earth during a tumltuous time such as war or even a more religious theme such as the end times.
In the line,"Will guide you and protect from up here", I think "up here" refers to heaven where the observer, or singer in this song, is at. "Believe in me, I'm with the high command" might be referring to the fact that he's with God (the high command) in heaven. |
