This song makes me think of someone who recently moved to the city, and is feeling disconnected from and out-of-sync with everything around them. On one hand, this person has lost some of their country habits, so they can't quite relate to country life anymore ("Each month you lose your touch a little more.") On the other hand, the person hasn't quite gotten the hang of fast-paced city life. The person tries to fit in, yet still finds themselves on the outskirts ("it seems like it was enough, but it was never enough.") |

To me, this song seems to be about two people who are in denial about their feelings for eachother. Then one day, one of them just breaks down and tells the other that they love them. I just love the part where it goes, "And I'm not gonna take it back/Oh I'm not gonna say I don't mean that." It's such an unabashed declaration of one person's love for another. Coldplay's new album rocks! |
