Bat for Lashes – Daniel Lyrics | 15 years ago |
There are loads of mistakes in these lyrics - Daniel, when I first saw you I knew that you had a flame in your heart And under wild blue skies Marble movie skies I found a home in your eyes We'll never be apart And when the fires came The smell of cinders and rain Perfumed almost everything We laughed and laughed and laughed And in the cold and blue car you took me to The darkest place you knew And set fire to my heart When I run in the dark Daniel To a place that's vast Under a sheet of rain in my heart Daniel I dream of home But in a goodbye bed With my arms around your neck Into our mouths the tears crept Just kids in the eye of the storm And as my head spun 'round My dreams pulled me from the ground Forever to search for the flame For home again For home again When I run in the dark Daniel To a place that's vast Under a sheet of rain in my heart Daniel I dream of home When I run in the dark Daniel To a place that's vast Under a sheet of rain in my heart Daniel I dream of home I think they're right. |
Regina Spektor – Better Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm far too annoyed about the title being edited, and not at my behest, may I add! I'm just bitter because I much preferred the original, "Will You Feel Better?" title. I liked it as a question, it fitted in with the themes of the song more. |
Regina Spektor – Après Moi Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Apres moi le Deluge" is a phrase which also appears in Dostoevsky's "The Idiot"> |
Kate Nash – Merry Happy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
She sounds so much like old skool Regina Spektor. |
Amy Winehouse – Back To Black Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I do wonder if "Black" is a thinly veiled reference to her current fiance "Blake". I've heard (though, admittedly from MTV News) that pretty much the entire album is about him. Mari - I don't think that an "clean and respectable" Amy Winehouse could have written a song like this! (And certainly not a song like "Rehab" ;) ) |
Regina Spektor – Better Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song was originally known as "Will You Feel Better?" before Begin to Hope was recorded. I suppose "Better" is its official title now, but not at the time that the lyrics were transcribed. |
Regina Spektor – Après Moi Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just to refer to an earlier post; what has Regina's personal faith got anything to do with the song? Regina was never married, but managed to write a song about divorce, she wasnt a prisoner or, in fact, a mermaid. I think the idea put forth that this is about Jesus is incredibly interesting. Fact and the limitations of personal experience certainly aren't an issue for Regina Spektor. |
The Mighty Boosh – Trapped in a Box Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Heh, I always thought this was "Badger Banana! (too bad ya deead!)" I suppose that makes more sense.. |
Jamie Lidell – Multiply Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm pretty sure it's - I'm tired of repeating myself, Beating myself up, Gonna take a trip and multiply and Taking it down, 'cause I got no control |
Guillemots – madeup love song #43 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"The lyrics are shallow (poetry in empty coke cans)" I thought that this was about how when you're in love, anything can seem beautiful (made me think of the dancing plastic bag in American Beauty) I thought the title didn't reflect the numerous bland love songs in the charts but instead was left simply- to show how nearly everyone can relate to what the song was saying. I didn't see anything satirical about it, I just saw a beautiful, optimistic and uplifting piece of music. |
Lily Allen – Knock 'Em Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
If anyone's interested the bit at the end is - "Actually I'm getting married next week, No, seriously, Uh, no, I gotta go my house is on fire! I've got herpes! no syphilis! AIDs, AIDs, I've got AIDs! Yeah, I forgot my Vagisil" Shame that's missed out, it's the funniest bit! Love Lily Allen, Love this song! |
Regina Spektor – Pavlov's Daughter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think it's weird at all, it never really struck me like that. I think it would sound weird if it was anyone other than Regina. |
Regina Spektor – Pavlov's Daughter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I can't believe this only has one comment! This is my favourite song off "Marry Ann.." |
Regina Spektor – Sailor Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
But how could a boat meet the gravediggers? |
Regina Spektor – Better Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Boo to this, I posted the lyrics to the real "Will you feel better" already. This version (of the song, not lyrics) is terribly silly. |
Regina Spektor – Après Moi Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's from a Boris Pasternak poem, if anyone wants to know. (He wrote Dr. Zhivago, oh yes he did.) |
Jamie Lidell – Multiply Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I can't believe no-one's commented! This is such a great song, he was so great on Jools Holland. |
The Go! Team – Ladyflash Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Isn't ist "Shoot, shoot, shoot"? At least, that what is says on the video. |
Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The part I don't understand is; "Oh my God Are you one of them?" I don't really see what he's referring to here. Is he asking if God is like the victims? the murderer? or not talking about God at all, instead, just about people in general? or even the listener? (I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before.) |
Regina Spektor – Better Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I've always thought this was written from a child's perspective because the language is so simple, and the persona doesn't seem to have a real grasp on the situation. I thought maybe it's about an adopted siblin, or the child's mother being left by their father. hance the "And if you never say your name out loud to anyone, They never ever call you by it." The mother going back to the maiden name, or the adopted sisters original name. It's one of my favourite Regina songs, It's so sweet and sad. |
Art Brut – Bad Weekend Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song! It's probably my favourite off the new album. "Can't stand pop music nowadays It's not loud enough Everybody can sing " :) I love Eddie Argos' vocals so much, they're so rubbish. |

M.I.A. – Galang Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Jamaican? I thought it was London Slang, like "G'wan" is a contraction of go along, "Galanga" is go along. Pretty much means the same thing, but I'm sure it's English. Patois would be a weird language for her to use anyway, seeing as she is Tamil/English. |
