Carlos Varela – Una Palabra Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"If one day you need me, I will be nothing" The translation doesn't quite go like this. It's more like "If one day I don't have you, I will be nothing" |
Placebo – Special Needs Lyrics | 15 years ago |
An obvious meaning of this song could be about a person who was injured by another (maybe a car accident with a drunk driver or something), and that person tells the other to remember him when he reaches his dreams - remember what he did to him, and that he, too could end up like that one day. |
Inner Circle – La Long Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Depends if the girl is crying out "nooo!" or if she's crying out "oh yes yes!" |
Sting – Desert Rose Lyrics | 15 years ago |
---> That or having an erotic dream... |
Sting – Desert Rose Lyrics | 15 years ago |
So, this song is about a guy masturbating while he fantasizes with the woman he loves, right? |
Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think it's about two people who are together (maybe even married) and aren't able to say the words "I love you" to each other for whatever reason, but they know they love and are loved by each other. |
Lacuna Coil – Enjoy the Silence (Depeche Mode cover) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think it's about two people who are together (maybe even married) and aren't able to say the words "I love you" to each other for whatever reason, but they know they love and are loved by each other. |
Weezer – Pork and Beans Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Weird Al Yankovic – Polkarama! Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is hillarius! specially the Candy shop/don'tcha /pon de replay parts! - But it's weird that the "Somebody Told me" sounds like a good serious cover rather than a parody... |

George Michael – Father Figure Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The first time I heard this song was in a CSI fanvid on Youtube (I'm a huge CSI fan). This is the fanvid ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0UICBaWRks I thought the song was romantic but a little too much to describe Grissom and Sara - it was a little confusing. However, later I felt it described perfectly the ill-conceived relationship between the Miniature Killer and her foster dad (if you have seen CSI, you know what I mean). |
George Michael – Father Figure Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Not because the song says "I'll be your father figure" the singer's the one who controls the situation, and not because George Michael is know for his sexual energy all his songs have to be about sex as the ultimate goal. "That's all I wanted Something special, something sacred In your eyes For just one moment To be bold and naked At your side" The singer's in love with a girl, he wants to have sex with her - in the context of a commited relationship - he wants them to be together eternally (but he takes whatever he can get, hence "just for one moment") "Sometimes I think that you'll never Understand me Maybe this time is forever Say it can be" She doesn't reciprocate his feelings, or she does but is afraid to get hurt (again) because she has a different concept of "love" and she can't understand his, so she feels she'll get hurt again. "That's all you wanted Something special, someone sacred In your life Just for one moment To be warm and naked At my side" He wants to be "bold and naked" (as a man in his lover's arms), she wants to be "warm and naked (as a newlyborn in her father's arms, perhaps?) Concepts of fatherly and romantic love are fused in her mind. "Sometimes I think that you'll never Understand me But something tells me together We'd be happy" He's aware of the situation, and has no problem with it - he can work around it (or maybe he wants to have her as his baby as well?) "(Baby) I will be your father figure (Oh baby) Put your tiny hand in mine (I'd love to) I will be your preacher teacher (Be your daddy)" He's not a father, a preacher or a teacher, but he's willing to become one just for her. "Put your tiny hand in mine" means he's telling her she can let go of all prevention because he'll build the life she wants to live. "Anything you have in mind" This is the key of the song. He will be whatever she wants him to be so they can be together. "(It would make me) I will be your father figure (Very happy) I have had enough of crime (Please let me) I will be the one who loves you Until the end of time" He'll never leave her, he won't fail her. And "crime" just rhymes with "time". "That's all I wanted But sometimes love can be mistaken For a crime" Not the kind that will give him jail time, but the kind that will make society censor them. Perhaps the girl's "issues" are on a psychiatric level and the man himself will be deemed crazy for loving the way she is. "That's all I wanted Just to see my baby's Blue eyed shine" He only cares about her happiness, if he has to go crazy with her for it, so be it. "This time I think that my lover Understands me If we have faith in each other Then we can be Strong" She does love him back, albeit in her ill-natured way. So they'll be together and happy, and if other don't like it, too bad for them. "If you are the desert I'll be the sea If you ever hunger Hunger for me Whatever you ask for That's what I'll be" He'll fullfill all her needs and wants. He wants her to love and need him, and only him (so the guy's kinda psycho as well) -> he's possesive. "So when you remember the ones who have lied Who said that they cared But then laughed as you cried Beautiful Darling Don't think of me" Other guys would leave her (or use her and then leave her) for wanting to have lover and father in one. But he's not like those other guys, he truly loves her and can give her that and much more. "Because all I ever wanted It's in your eyes baby, baby And love can't lie, no... " Again, he only cares about her. All he needs is her love and dependance. "(Greet me with the eyes of a child) My love is always tell me to... (Heaven is a kiss and a smile) Just hold on, hold on I won't let you go, my baby " More of the same idea: with him, she doesn't have to be "normal", they'll be together forever and she can have the kind of relationship she's always wanted, doesn't matter if society judges them as sick (so can he with her, in this last part one could think the guy's starting to lose touch with reality along with her). I use "her" only for gramatical differentiation purposes, it could be a "him" as well, though. |
Apocalyptica – Bittersweet Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Apocalyptica is just great. Ville Valo and Lauri Ylonen are two opposite flavors of sexy, and so are their voices - nothing I love more than contrats in voices, and they're perfect example. I don't think the song's about two men fighting over a girl. I think it's about two sides of a man: the one who wants to let go of a girl (Ville), and the other one who doesn't(Lauri). Lauri wins, even though the man knows the girl's love is damaging to him. |
Eiffel 65 – Blue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It sometimes says "da ba dee da ba daaiii" and sometimes it says "I will bleed I will die", and I think it says once "If I were green I would die". Or maybe they just babble randomly without any kind of structure "Da ba dee bla blu bla bla du bli ba ble ahhii""... |
Panic! at the Disco – Nine In The Afternoon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Maybe, just maybe this song is about being famous/being on tour. They discovered fame with their first album, thus they felt unique, larger than life and they felt the impossible is possible for them. When on tour, they saw what they never dreamt of seeing, their eyes were the size of the moon ---> your eyes get very big when you're amused and surprised. They were discovering fascinating things, like if they were living in Disney World. At some point, when they went to create their second album, they went back from their frantic life to a more normal life and rediscovering their "humanity", so to speak, maybe reconnecting with family, loved ones, etc... but this "going back to normalcy" can be enjoyable - maybe now that they've seen both sides of the coin - they've discovered they enjoy being simple people as much as they enjoy being famous and recognized everywhere, thus the "We're feeling so good Just the way that we do When it's nine in the afternoon" |
Ashlee Simpson – Outta My Head Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Isn't she making fun or referring to Britney Spears in some way? |
George Michael – Father Figure Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think George Michael being gay or straight is irrelevant for the meaning of this song, as it speaks for both kinds of relationships. I don't think it's about pedophilia. I think it means the singer loves a person (an adult) who has "daddy issues" and is looking for a father figure, so he tells that person he's willing to be that father figure for him/her (because he loves him/her that much, and probably because he also needs to have a "baby" as well). The "sometimes love can be mistaken for a crime" doesn't mean that he's commiting a crime in the legal sense of the word (a.k.a. pedophilia), but that it's not quite right (in the eyes of society, at least) to have a sexual/romantic relationship in those terms, but as long as they're happy, it doesn't matter to him. The song is somewhat disturbing, but romantic at the same time. |
Dido – Hunter Lyrics | 16 years ago |
All of Dido's lyrics are wonderful... they speak to you. This song is undoubtedly about someone who wants to get free of somebody's control... not necessarily to break up or cut ties with that person, but to gain independence, to be her own person. And the answer is in "Don't leave home". |
Dido – Don't Leave Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this song is not necesarily about an specific kind of addiction or obsession. It's about need of control, whether the controller is a person, a drug, a disease or a situation. The song is about something or someone little or apparently harmless and unimportant taking over someone's life. I also think this song is a response to Dido's last album song "Hunter", which is the same situation, but in the controlled person's POV, so basically it would be somebody saying I want to have independence, to have freedom" and this is the response saying "please, don't. You don't need to do that, I'll provide". |
Nightwish – Wish I Had an Angel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sad that they dumped tarja, I mean, in the way they did it... |
The White Stripes – Passive Manipulation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
by crankypants on 08-06-2005 @ 02:31:31 AM Could it somehow be about how Jack refers to Meg as his sister since after their divorse? Saying something how she has to remember that Jack is no longer a lover or family? I may just be blowing steam. ------------------------------------------------------------ You could be right on that one... |
The White Stripes – In the Cold, Cold Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
That would be interesting... |
The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The White Stripes – Blue Orchid Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Evanescence – Solitude Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I know this song is one of the songs that Amy and Ben wrote in a "friendly" competition, like I phrase and response, and this song revealed her secret crush on ben. Do you know what are the other songs? |
The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah! it's funny, because karen Elson is homely, and is cranky, and her hair is in a net... |

The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Does somebody else think that Jack wrote this song in a moment of absolute selfcounsciousness and sincerity with himself and his feelings (in other words, drunk)? (no hay verdad más verdadera que la de la borrachera - there's not a truer truth than the one from the drunk dude) |
The White Stripes – Blue Orchid Lyrics | 19 years ago |

The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yeah, Zinner, I've known this from the first moment. But if jack claims he and Meg are brother and sister and then makes a lyric like this... P.S.: very jealous of her pets but anyway they had a puppy there... P.S. 2: There are a bunch of reasons why I think Jack's "new first marriage" is fake P.S. 3: for some reason, this song also reminds me of "Piano man"... |
The White Stripes – Little Ghost Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think they are Jack and meg singing... they did that here in Colombia and it sounds pretty much like it... |

The White Stripes – Little Acorns Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"has any one else noticed that there is one song on every White Stripes album that has "little" in it like little room, little bird, little people and little acorns" ... and little ghost |
The White Stripes – Hotel Yorba Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about just being in love and thinking crazy things (like when you are in love), it says cool things but... if one image worth 1000 words, then one video worths 1000 books!!! I mean, the video of this song is soooo self-explanatory... (and by the way, did Renée watch this video before dating Jack, or did she watch this video before marrying jack, and that's why they broke up?) I mean, jack will have a miserable love life (outside Meg) just for having made this video (ok Meg will have a miserable love life, too) |
The White Stripes – Screwdriver Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Could you explain yourself a lil' better, Weezday? 'coz I don't speak english very well so I don't understand the possible double sense of that line... |

The White Stripes – The Same Boy You've Always Known Lyrics | 19 years ago |
jurgamund, your theory is excellent!!! "Well I guess I haven't grown" - Yeah we realized Jack is an eternal kid... |
The White Stripes – Suzy Lee Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yeah, I think Suzy Lee is really Meg. Jack has to be really confused, I mean, he marries her, divorces and now he carries her everywhere as if they were stuck on each other... and then he asks why de doesn't do well with girlfriends... there is an unfinished issue there... |
The White Stripes – The Big Three Killed My Baby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yes, it is about GM, Ford and Chrysler, because the real Meg died in a car accident (the Big Three killed my baby, "my baby" referring to Meg). Then Jack was so depressed he wanted to die, but then a good idea came to his mind, and he made MegBot (now MegBot 2.0.). Ok no, but I read this in a page that claims meg is a robot. |
