Between the Buried and Me – All Bodies Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I always thought this song was about a group of astronauts who go to another planet and find a group of aliens who kill them all. |
As Cities Burn – Our World Is Grey Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It sounds like this could be about all the wrongs in the world today (abortion, drug, suicide, obesity) and Cody's saying that God could just give up on us for all of these faults but he doesn't and that's why we love him. |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – Stay Small Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan said: "The concept for the song is basically questioning the virtue of true love and whether or not that love would truly dictate bringing a child into such a world as this, or would it love them enough never to create them. This is another narrative portrayal of this family's life and a really personal song." |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – Wanderers Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan said: "The lyrics deal a lot with conviction and the loss of it. Light can only shine in dark places. Despite many things, the most natural of human conviction and hope is not lost." I really like how it's based off the little light of mine thing. |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – Saturnus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan also said it applies to him, the earth, and the main character of the album. The lyrics on this album are just as good as the first one but I think a little more relateable. |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – A Realization of the Ear Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan says: "The lyrics for this song can be taken in a couple different ways. One from the father to his son, and another as the earth singing to mankind. This is one of many parallels between the earth and the family that lives in this record." |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – Smoke and Mirrors Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan said this: "The lyrics for this song can be looked at in many different lights and transposed into many different scenarios. They can relate to the story of the record if you would like or probably a number of other things. I will leave it at that." I think it's about the music business though. |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – The Salesman, The Husband, The Lover Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan had this to say: "...researched a lot of websites about the effect of divorce on children. That is where the lines about the light bulb, wishbone, rifle, and telephone came from. This is how children described themselves when dealing with divorced parents. Some felt like things came out of the dark when they were around, some felt like they were being torn in two, some felt like the communicator, and some felt like they were used as fodder by one parent to hurt the other. ...it is the first narrative look into our character's life. This is a good reason for all of his remorse, regret, and guilt the record goes on to talk about." |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – The Crop and the Pest Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan Brown said: "This is mostly about the realization of sin. It comes from the view point of this aforementioned sin. I pictured it as this really weak parasite clinging to its host, living in with fear with knowledge that once it is discovered it is no more than a scab to picked off." |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – Disappear (Oubliette) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Brendan said this about the song: "The lyrics for this were really inspired by a book called "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis. This song sort of follows the character falling into one of the most camouflaged of all vices; nothing." |
The Receiving End Of Sirens – Swallow People Whole Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is what Brendan said about the song: "They sort of touch on that feeling you have when you do something completely out of character. The feeling of a stranger living inside you and acting through you. This song is meant to set the overall feel for the record, and somewhat sum up the actions of the main character of the album." |
