Sufjan Stevens – Pittsfield Lyrics | 17 years ago |
on the second to last verse, when he says "I don't regret having left the place a mess", do you interpret it as leaving the place a mess as in messy so that she will have to clean it up, or that he left home for good when there were big problems that were "messy"? I just realized that it could be interpreted both ways, and want to see what people think. |
Rilo Kiley – August Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm never really sure if he is talking about the month August, a girl named August, or a mixture. I think he's talking to the month August as if it was a girl, personally. Maybe he is in love with the month August and wishes they were a person? "Someday, we'll meet beyond the limits of who we are." There are a lot of ways to interpret this. I think it's best just not to overanalyze it, and just enjoy it. |
Desaparecidos – Mall of America Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"people who live in the streets usually live there because they are crazy" No, the people turn crazy after being forced into the streets by the system. They wouldn't be crazy if the system didn't reject them. This is one of my favorite songs on the CD. I don't think it really needs interpreting, because most songs with punk lyrics are usually just upfront and obvious. |
Say Hi – They Write Books About This Sort Of Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh, and I wondered about the pad thai, too. I think you can spell it Pad Thai or Pat Thai. |
Say Hi – They Write Books About This Sort Of Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
haha, I love that interpretation. I'm going to think of that everytime I hear it now. That sounds like something that would be in a romantic comedy. |
Bob Dylan – Country Pie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song, it is so much fun. I was listening to the vinyl of Nashville Skyline (Dylan's country album) and when this song came on, I couldn't help but smile at the lyrics. It's just a fun country song with a Bob Dylan accent. There isn't really anything to interpret. Bob Dylan basically just likes pie. I think we all do. I reccommend this song to any Dylan fans who want to hear a departure from his norm! |
My Morning Jacket – Anytime Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of my favorite songs on Z, so I had to put it up. The other site I got it from had every word start with a capitol letter, which was really annoying. |
Rilo Kiley – Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This has some great yodelling! I don't really know what this song means. I think "gravity" is a reminder of the real world. It's just the realization of what really is happening. |
Queen – A Human Body Lyrics | 18 years ago |
...welll, as long as you keep an unbiased, open minded view of the song... |
Colin Meloy – Wonder Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I just saw Colin Meloy play this live two days ago, and it is about his soon-to-be-born daughter, he said. It's a very sweet song. |
Rx Bandits – Overcome (The Recapitulation) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"there are laws against nature but it's ok For you to be addicted to over the counter prescriptions And magazines dictate all of our human relations" I think that first line there is talking about homosexuality, and how they don't receive equal rights, even though for over 40 years it has been scientificially proven to be natural. This song has some of my favorite lyrics of any song ever. |
Bright Eyes – Bowl of Oranges Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oops, I forgot to say I agree with XswissarmyromanceX and, unmeaningly, took what she said and ran with it. |
Bright Eyes – Bowl of Oranges Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me, this song is "bitter sweet" if you will. It's just a description of life. The good, and the bad. We all have good experiences and bad experiences, but that's what makes the painting of life beautiful. People may think that life would be better without the bad, but everything would be too perfect and the good would no longer be good, it would just be normal. That is just like how for a painting (in most cases) without the dark colors, the light colors wouldn't pop out as much, and it would all seem a little too bright. I really love the metaphor of life being a painting in the song. This kinda makes me think of the movie Sliding Doors, which shows that even through bad things, like a missing a train, good things can come out of it and you may end up better off. This song doesn't make me weep, or want to sell my body to Conor, it just makes me think. I think he'd rather have his music make people think than make it have people obsess over him. |
Belle & Sebastian – Dog on Wheels Lyrics | 18 years ago |
If I didn't know who Belle and Sebastian were, and I heard this song, I would think they are from the 70s. It's a great song. It kind of makes me feel like that if surf rock started in Glasgow, Scotland, this is what it would sound like. |
Belle & Sebastian – A Century of Fakers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is like an anthem to me. It really puts a lot of things I believe in into words. " There are people going hungry every day They've got nothing on their plates And you're filling your fat face with every different kind of cake" So many times I've felt like saying that . The song uses the same tune as Century of Elvis, which is quite beautiful. |
Belle & Sebastian – A Century of Elvis Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Um...yeah, dude, that is only the first 10 seconds of the song. In the booklet, they just put the beginning of it, for space reasons. The actual thing is much longer. It's such a beautiful story, the way it's told.. It's kind of something that I would think would lull me to sleep. I was actually listening to it one night and the ghost part actually frightened me :) |
Rilo Kiley – Teenage Love Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is the most country Rilo Kiley song I've ever heard. I love it, though. |
Rilo Kiley – Pull Me In Tighter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is gorgeous. It's more country-influenced than newer Rilo Kiley songs, but I have a soft spot in my heart for the older Rilo Kiley stuff. I think what the lyrics in this song are saying is how dedicated the one person is to the other, and Jenny realizes that in the relationship will end and so she says "I will survive" but for now "pull me in tighter". Like, even though I know it'll end, I just want to enjoy the moment. That's what I get out of it. |
The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
He never said "I'm in love with my sister" he says I love my sister. You jerk. |
The White Stripes – I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, Meg and Jack were never married, that's a load of crap. They don't talk about their relationship, really, considering its none of our business and you guys shouldn't spend hours arguing about silly things like that. Jack is married now, so it's obvious they are just friends and music partners. I don't know why someone would hate this song so much. I don't understand how loving your mom and sister is incest. Are you supposed hate your family? People have such dirty minds, tsk tsk. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. It's very nice piano, and I love how Jack sings it. All the crescendos and decrescendos. It's pretty sweet. Don't be so quick to judge a song. I hope you don't find it too horribly offensive for Jack to say he loves and misses his mom. That is a pretty gruesome thing to say. |
Say Hi – Yeah, I'm In Love With An Android Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is just so romantic. I think Android/human love is beautiful. This is my favorite song so far that I've heard from Ferocious Mopes. It's low key and slow, something Say Hi to Your Mom can totally nail. |
Say Hi – They Write Books About This Sort Of Thing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, I think I'm wrong :-/ |
Say Hi – They Write Books About This Sort Of Thing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm pretty sure the first line is "Heard pretty noises" not her. I don't how a girl would be able to turn her pretty noises down. Although, if it is her, I guess the first four lines were then supposed to just be random lines. Doubt that, though. |
