Elliott Smith – Fake It Through the Day (Miss Misery, early version) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Good GOD "iamthenightstars" you are a moron. |
System of a Down – Prison Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The point this song is trying to make is not merely that the government is fascist when it comes to drug use, rather that the elite GET THE PROFITS from drug use, hence 'drugs became CONVENIENTLY available for all the kids'. People are easier to manage in prison, the elite dont just 'not know any better' like someone said, they know these things dont rehabilitate, they just want control. One of the regimes referred to in perhaps the most important part 'Drug money is used to rig elections, And train brutal corporate sponsored Dictators around the world.', is in COLUMBIA, cocaine producing capital of the world, which american 'aid' to is like third in the world, behind israel and egypt, (two countries that CONVENIENTLY surround the suez canal, btw). we also have a strong allied presence in afghanistan.. and since the taliban was ousted (as ruling government at least) opium production has DOUBLED. Through these puppet dictators and DOCUMENTED CIA links to drug lords, we come back to the profits of keeping the drugs illegal and expensive BUT easily available. these profits are then used to sponser other dictators (SEE GUETAMALA, PANAMA, EL SALVADOR, NICARAGUA, ooh, look at that, its like a route from columbia to america) look these things up, PLEASE. WAKE UP. |
Tool – Hooker with a Penis Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The song doesn't claim integrity of music, especially theirs, is a myth. What's ironic in the song is that the guy claims he is 'OGT' and yet Maynard explains the contract was before that record (Opiate). Maynard would like to sell 10 million records, but won't change and hasn't changed a damn thing to do it. As for Tool not being a political band, that's rubbish. I suppose they need to talk about election candidates to be political huh? To quote MJK "Every album I've done with Tool and APC has strong political content". End of that one. |
Metallica – Battery Lyrics | 19 years ago |
un 4 gvn 1, spot on. meanings of battery as an act and battery in terms of violent energy still has some weight tho. great meaning for a first song on the album. similar to other first songs on their albums in that respect. |
Megadeth – Psychotron Lyrics | 19 years ago |
lets down the album |
Megadeth – In My Darkest Hour Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its not to another dude. |
Del Amitri – Always The Last To Know Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its 'when your winter comes' rather than 'words are calmest', and 'you were .. the last to know' twice at the end. think its the only sane thing.. 'that i have' rather than 'ive had' but not sure. great song. dont think youre meant to get an impression of him ending the relationship because he was the last to know, rather thats what it changed to afterwards, as doc said. end still feels ironic though, is nice twist. |
Metallica – The Unnamed Feeling Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i dont really like the album too much, but this is one of the best songs theyve ever written. similar to 'one' in the way the music mirrors the lyrics. scary song. the 'feeling' itself can mean diff things to diff people. but i do think its a more sinister side rather than being down, a mental illness, be it depression or whatever. cant you help me be uncrazy, name this (problem)for me - think hes talking about a therapist situation. |
System of a Down – B.Y.O.B. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
music shouldn't be political? please tell me youre joking? music=art. art=expression. |
Megadeth – Rust In Peace... Polaris Lyrics | 19 years ago |
polaris = 1960s american nuclear missile, on submarines i think. |
System of a Down – B.Y.O.B. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
can someone intelligent please explain this anti-france thing to me? heh actually forget it |
Metallica – The Four Horsemen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
anyone else think yourrnameherres a dick? said everyone elses opinions were pathetic, then repeated them, apart from then denying any biblical references. In a song called 'The Four Horsemen' its not a christian message. just biblical for effect, llike creeping death. |
Metallica – ...And Justice for All Lyrics | 19 years ago |
meanings been well covered. lyrics are so poetic... 'walls of justice painted green',green-money obv. 'apathy their stepping stone' saying the people are made apathetic towards how the system is run, and it allows people to abuse the system, as a stepping stone round law. lyrics are based on the film in a way rather than just the message - the last lines of the chorus: seeking no truth, winning is all' is how the system appears on the film 'find it so grim, so true, so real' hetfield finds it disgusting, but more importantly that the film is 'so true, so real' and the film mirrors real life. |
Metallica – Of Wolf And Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
can appreciate people thinking the meaning of (our primal instincts being the meaning of life) is too deep, but in my opinion (and many here) it is a deep song. cant explain lines like 'In wildness is the preservation of the world' by saying its a story about wolves. hetfield is a poet. wouldnt like metallica (so much) otherwise. nice clue about the songmeanings importance too 'back to the meaning of life' (i.d or the instinct driven) is 'back to the meaning of wolf and man'. |
Megadeth – Blackmail The Universe Lyrics | 19 years ago |
heh, i repeat everything in that first paragraph to a tee, maybe been in to them for longer tho. where it comes in with the lyrics 'blackmail the universe' is real powerful. its a great opener to a set. maybe the first two paragraphs are from the prez's perspective. then the rest on a cold war-like build up. |

Black Sabbath – War Pigs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
its clear and direct (ratm could learn something from war pigs), unpretentious, about fundemental wrongs about war and society, and its optimistic. really great underrated revolutionary song. halo2king, just because religins are supposedly against almost everything government does, doesnt mean people dont do such things in the name of a religion, or that religion cant be secret motives of powerful people. zionism comes to mind. i agree with who said to listen to such 'leftie' artists as lennon, marley, cos you have to listen to opinion to form one of your own, you cant just listen to yourself. you should form your own opions, but you cant do that without listening to others. thats me done. |
System of a Down – B.Y.O.B. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
btw, for this song see war pigs. |
Megadeth – In My Darkest Hour Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's dedicated to cliff burton, he wrote it after he found out that cliff had died, and that inspired the music, but the lyrics aren't about him. i'd actually go with what DisposableHero said. |
