I agree with everyone who said you really don't know till you've been in the situation. You really don't. It's a shitty place to be in. I can identify with it, because everyone needs a break from constantly being judged and being tormented and teased and made fun of and being brought into stupid catty plans and the list goes on and on. This is the age when things are seemingly life or death, because, yes, we do overreact as teenagers, but we don't recognize that fully yet. |

One of the greatest friends I've ever had introduced me to this band in December 2003. He has since then commit suicide and this band was on his last mixed cd to me. I've been obsessed with them since I first heard "The First Single." This song is by far my favorite on the CD, and was his favorite also. I don't care what it means. It keeps me happy and I can only see him sitting in his bedroom singing this song to me like he used to. |

This song is simply what it's about. Making a Mix Tape. It seems that he's torn by the distance between him and someone, so he just makes a mix tape (one of the best mix tapes ever from the sounds of it) to remind him of her. &then gives it to her, in order to remind her of him. She's always on his mind, and he's hoping this will reassure her. As for the breaking into houses part, I've always found that to be rather romantic sounding... as creepy as it sounds to other people. I've personally always wished someone would break into my house and leave me a love letter. It sounds as if he was surprised that she had said something like "there's a piece of you in every single day" and he wants to know if she really meant it... However, that's just my two cents... |

I cannot believe that this song doesn't have more comments. This is BY FAR the best song on the album, I like it a lot better than Scars (which I absolutely despise). I cannot believe that I have just discovered Joseph Arthur. It was by a complete accident, but probably one of the greatest ever. I cried when I heard this song. Maybe it's that I cry too often, but it made me think of my two best friends who both commit suicide. I know it's not about that, but I don't care. It tells of guilt and there are a few lines that just pull my heart strings. My favorite lines: "I know I would apologize if I could see your eyes, 'cause when you showed me myself, I became someone else. But I was caught in between all you wish for and all you need.
