Fall Out Boy – The Take Over, the Breaks Over Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"especially when Pete beat that one guard up in defense of one of his fans" LOL! I like FOB alright, but let's not go crazy. Pete didn't "beat up" anyone - their head of security was taking the guy down with a choke, Pete just jumped on his back and threw some girly punches for a few seconds. He beat nobody up and he wasn't "defending a fan," LOL. |
Iron Maiden – Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Definitely about anal sex! Hopefully people will see this comment on the front page and follow it because of that sentence, ha ha! LOL@"unchain your back door, invite me around!" - whatever, Bruce! Definitely about anal sex, though. DEFINITELY!!! |
Iron Maiden – Black Bart Blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Supposedly Bruce Dickinson saw a suit of armor on display somewhere in the US (a gas station?) and convinced the original owner to sell it to him. They kept it in the back of the tour bus and had sex with groupies with it sitting there, hence this song. |
Destiny's Child – Bug-A-Boo Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Amaya, it didn't go down like that. You told me you were a freak! Stop hating. |
Motörhead – Speedfreak Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"methamphetamine" ...amphetamines in general. Meth is far less common in the UK than the sulphate form. |
Alphaville – Whales Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that this song is about...whales! I cringed when I heard it, though. Hopefully Alphaville haven't jumped the, uh, whale. |
Alphaville – A Victory of Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
(By the way, the live version of this on Dreamscapes CD 4 is awesome.) |
Alphaville – A Victory of Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Not the greatest lyrics ever penned," I agree, Iron Maiden's "Quest for Fire" is much better! ;) |
Alphaville – Jerusalem Lyrics | 17 years ago |
A self-confessed hippie "love and peace" song, but easily one of the best of the 80s regardless. |
Alphaville – Big In Japan Lyrics | 17 years ago |
LOL! Do you guys read the other comments before posting? The guy who wrote the song said it was about people he knew trying to quit drugs, so yeah, it's "possible" that there are drug references...and if it "seems to [you]" that it's about drugs, well... ;) "ITs as though he's singing in the shoes of a woman betrayed by her lover or something" Welcome to the discussion, deluded! Nice username, by the way. LOL. |
GZA/Genius – Breaker, Breaker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The above lyrics are wrong and miss the point of the song entirely. They should be: "Breaker, breaker, one nine, clear the line Can you read me? Shortage on rhymes" The track itself is basically just GZA discussing the fact that his unusual/unique lyrics are better than the typical rap clichés being used by other MCs. I can't think how to word that any better right now, okay? ;) |
Trivium – Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr Lyrics | 18 years ago |
LOL! Yeesh, I was just kidding. Bodom are way better than Trivium, though. "The Heaf" is a tard. Oops, there I go again! |
Kaiser Chiefs – I Predict a Riot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"This is the worst rhyme I have ever heard... who the hell says 'thee'? Lazy." Some people in England actually still say it, especially older ones. That aside, isn't it at least somewhat plausible that "thee" is meant to be anachronistic, since he's talking about the decline of society and references someone from the 18th century just a few lines later? DUH! ;) |
Three 6 Mafia – Ridin' Spinners (Feat. Lil' Flip) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh yeah, it's also not "Gals break when they see em'", it's "gals FAINT when they see 'em", which obviously makes more sense. ...AND (ha!) it's not "I saw my dog with the center circles so I [*Brakes*]", either. I think he's actually saying "saw my dog with the syrup sipper/sucker(?)", but whatever it is, it's definitely not "center circles". |
Three 6 Mafia – Ridin' Spinners (Feat. Lil' Flip) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Bumpin' the Alpi-ne, why you's a lyin'" The second part of this line seems to be wrong on every internet lyric site. It's not "you's a lyin'", it's "while you (sniff noise) a line, (and?)..." |
Mike Jones – Back Then Lyrics | 18 years ago |
LOL@Foghat being better than Mike Jones. Haters hate! |
Mike Jones – Still Tippin' feat. Slim Thug & Paul Wall Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Big boss belt buckle under my Michellin S - Talkin bout rims and tires" That's totally wrong. Why would he have a belt buckle under his tires? It's "under my Mitchell and Ness," the company that makes vintage jerseys. Duh! www.mitchellandness.com if you don't believe me. |
Nine Inch Nails – We're in This Together Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Trent Reznor has repeatedly stated that this is NOT a positive song in any way. It's actually about heroin addiction, which is why some of the comments here are so funny. "It's about me and my boyfriend! It describes our relationship exactly!" - Yeah, that's healthy! |
Iron Maiden – The Prisoner Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Bruce doing the spoken intro to this song (from the TV show) during his Wacken 2002 gig is one of the funniest and worst things ever recorded on a live album. |
Bruce Dickinson – Tears Of The Dragon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Otm is right - during the Wacken 2002 gig (which is preserved in the form of the worst bootleg ever recorded!), Bruce says this before the song: "This is a song that I wrote when I left Iron Maiden, and it's about fear, it's about doubt, and it's about trying to conquer the bullshit that's in your life." |
Michael Bublé – Feeling Good Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The Muse version of this song (which is good!) was knocked off by an ad company for a coffee commercial when the band wouldn't agree to let them use it, so your fears have been realized in a way. |
Paradise Lost – Symbol Of Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"And I hear death's part of life" SHOULD BE "And I hear it's part of life" "I get by with what I've got Always aware of what I've lost" SHOULD BE "Can't get by with what I've got Always dwell on what I've lost" I think there might be one more mistake in there, but I've forgotten what it is. Oops. Maybe not. |
Paradise Lost – Symbol Of Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
READ THIS COMMENT! (Sorry, that's for the 'latest comment' box.) Paradise Lost basically created the current 'dark/keyboard metal' genre that's so popular right now, and it's frustrating to see bands who aren't half as good as they are become more and more successful with woefully derivative sounds. That said, these lyrics are wrong. Corrections follow. |
Paradise Lost – Say Just Words Lyrics | 19 years ago |
(Once again) I read an interview with Nick where he said that this song was a reaction to the way people (especially "up North" in his own words) didn't want the band to succeed and were badmouthing them. |
Paradise Lost – Shallow Seasons Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Okay, it seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the lyrics, but I'm SURE I read an interview with Nick Holmes where he said this song was about "students coming home during the holidays" or something like that. I swear! |
Paradise Lost – Embers Fire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I have no idea what it means (what a surprise!), but it has one of the all-time best lower budget videos ever. It looked awesome at the time and it still does. |
Pearl Jam – I Am a Patriot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
JumpyJack, I think the point is meant to be that if you "hate" American you can try to make a difference, not just leave. Not a lot of progress that way, huh? Who hasn't felt frustrated with the place they're from or where they live sometimes and wanted it to be different? |
In Flames – Superhero Of The Computer Rage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I always figured that this song was about the "internet backlash" from some fans after the release of "Reroute to Remain". Typical metal "fan" bullshit about it being a "sellout" and so on, although there were undeniably one or two production issues. I took the title and the lyrics to be a reference to the way some people get online and criticize people to make themselves feel powerful, etc. |
In Flames – Black & White Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"racism!! shame on you flames! this album totaly sucks! this album was just begin of solding out. here on this album we have so much electronics like in techno! f*ck this album!" LOL!! |
The Sisters of Mercy – (We Are The Same) Susanne Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Note: at least one live version of this song has "Susanne let the ether fall" as the second line. It's been suggested that the song is about German TV presenter Susanne Holst, who was (also?) a weathergirl at some point. |
Ben Harper – Jah Work Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I know nothing about Ben Harper, but based on these lyrics I'm almost 100% sure I could beat him up. |
Anthrax – Caught In A Mosh Lyrics | 19 years ago |
True, but some wrote songs without resorting to repeating the words "caught in a mosh!" as a chorus. |
Trivium – Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm starting a petition to force this band to rename themselves "Bodium" in a gesture of intellectual honesty. |
Bloc Party – Tulips Lyrics | 19 years ago |
And yes, I spell words wrong on purpose. What you didn't realize is that "Abbatoir", while at first appearing to be a simple error, is in fact a fictional establishment inside my imagination where members of Swedish supergroup "Abba" are cut up with knives. That was me being clever, and you would never have known unless I told you. I did tell you, so now you know. |
Bloc Party – Tulips Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's a song about flowers and letting girls wear your jacket. Sorry, but I'm not letting anyone wear my 70s blue leather "style shroud", ever! Besides being generally too good for others, it has stuff I could need at a moment's notice in the pockets - usually a pen, my allergy medication and (last but not least) a supply of knives that would put an abbatoir to shame. Sorry girls, this jacket ain't up for grabs. Hey, I should write a song about it! |
The Sisters of Mercy – Marian Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Or it could obviously be that the song is about a girl called Marian. |
Travis – Safe Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"The world's a small child in the dark" LOL, come on! |
Cannibal Corpse – I Cum Blood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"everyone hates you here." Good. "your presence is not welcome here." Good. "you are a false teacher." Yes. "your mark is 555." My main mark is a picture of a badger holding a knife, but yes. "all those who follow you will use that mark." I also issue my followers with library cards. Thanks for the nice note! Luvz u! :):):):) |
Bloc Party – Tulips Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"Wearing my jacket"? The bloke who wrote this song obviously isn't that hard, mate. |
Trivium – Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This band's guitar style is a blatant ripoff of the first four Children of Bodom albums. Discuss. ;) |
The Sisters of Mercy – I Was Wrong Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'd like to think of this song as an open letter from Eldritch to Tony James about how much of a twat he thought Neal X from Sigue Sigue Sputnik was, but it probably isn't. :( |
The Sisters of Mercy – Home Of The Hitmen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Embarrassing Early Works Syndrome(TM). |
The Sisters of Mercy – On The Wire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I'm doing a lot of drugs but I can handle it, piss off and stop bothering me." |
The Sisters of Mercy – Nine While Nine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
vigilant is correct, "while" is basically a synonym for "until" in certain parts of England. This song is (and I need a synonym of my own pretty badly here) apparently (how many times have I typed that?) about Eldritch's One True Love (TM) Claire - their relationship forms the basis of several Sisters songs. The real question is not whether we should be glad that their relationship ended in a heartbreaking way and provided the world with a few great songs because of it, but whether SHE CHUCKED YOU or YOU CHUCKED HER, Andy! Go on, tell us! |
JamisonParker – Dear Everybody Lyrics | 19 years ago |
After ending up at this page via the "latest comment" link on the left, I feel moved to ask that anyone who knows the person who wrote these lyrics offer my assistance in ending their life at the nearest convenient time for both of us. Dear god, shut up! |
Kyuss – Supa Scoopa And The Mighty Scoop Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The worst song title of all time, but an absolutely great track. The fake endings are great! |
Anthrax – Potters Field Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm fairly certain that I read comments from the band saying that this song was about abortion. |
Anthrax – Black Lodge Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song was inspired by Twin Peaks, although the band claim(s/ed) it was only the music and not the lyrics, which is unusual. |
Anthrax – Caught In A Mosh Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I always thought that this was one of the most overrated metal songs ever, but obviously some people disagree. ;) I still laugh whenever I hear the lyrics "caught in a mosh!", though. I'm laughing just typing it, which is pretty sad. |
Anthrax – Hy Pro Glo Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I have an episode of Europe's "Headbangers Ball" (an old one, obviously) where Scott says that this song is about "junkfood". Make of that what you will. |
