10cc – Rubber Bullets Lyrics | 12 years ago |
as hawley5150 said, this is about prison riots, such as attica. damn catchy though. and with all the trouble going on in england atm it seems apt! |
Spice Girls – Last Time Lover Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i take it more to mean like he's the 'last time' lover because she doesn't want anybody else after/other than him? |

Robots in Disguise – DIY Lyrics | 17 years ago |
DIY means 'do it yourself'. i love this song. |
Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics | 17 years ago |
pete wentz's enunciation is so bad, especially in this song, that you can barely understand a word he sings. but this song is really catchy. as are most of FOB's single's. so, i like it. i do generally prefer p!atd to fob, though, randomly. |
The Feeling – Rose Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I dunno, I was mildly offended by the 'england... uk to be exact' comment, too. a) because, like bigjoe1000 said, 'england... the uk to be exact' is a ridiculously ignorant statement, and b) because it didn't really answer the question about why their accents are 'funny'; just saying they're from england is completely unhelpful. saying they're from sussex is a far more useful comment regarding their accents. ~ I like this song. Rosé wine IS far nicer than either red or white. :p |
The Feeling – I Want You Now. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
oh, how fantastically fun is this song? it's so upbeat and lovely. also, pretty much how i feel about my boyfriend. yay, young love. |
InMe – Chamber Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it hurts to listen to this song too closely. amazing. |
Dido – Here With Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i'm the sort of person who listens to and loves anything and everything, a billion different things. i have a new 'favourite' song every week or day or even hour, sometimes, and am nearly always extolling the virtues of some song or other and proclaiming it the 'best!' i'm indecisive and never have a real favourite anything - food, movie, drink, book, etc... i heard this years ago, when it first came out, and ever since then, even though i still have a new 'omg this is my current favourite song ever!' every week, if someone asks me what my favourite song is, my answer is that it's difficult to decide, but if i was held at gunpoint and forced to say, it would be this one. i love dido's voice, i love the music, i love the lyrics, everything about it. i especially loved it because (this is a while ago, in my days as a lame Buffy fangirl; don't judge me) i associated with the kind of love buffy and angel have for each other. i've been over my buffy/angel phase for at least a good two years now, and still love the song so much. and i've ached to feel that kind of love for, oh, years. since buffy and angel, actually. i started dating my boyfriend in january this year, and i moved to university in september this year. when he leaves after staying with me for a few days i just want to keep that feeling so badly, to stay in my room and wish he was still here ("i don't wanna call my friends"). and i've not seen him for a month, now, which is the longest i've gone without seeing him in four years (i had a crush on him long before we got together), and it's hit me how much i've just *stopped* in this last month. every day i look forward to talking to him on the phone, and if i don't get to i get cranky. i don't really want to go out with my friends so much because he's not with me, just... everything. ("i cannot be"). he's finally coming to see me again on sunday night for a ferw days, and i am so excited. i won't sleep, i can't breathe... i mean, i understood it pretty well to start with, 'cause it'd fairly self-explanatory. but now i actually *get* this song. it's pretty damn amazing to feel that way about someone (even if it does suck to be away from them). dido is absolutely brilliant. |
Muse – Take a Bow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is a fucking amazing intro to the album. i love the slow steady way it builds up to these almighty crescendos (i suspect a lot of why i love muse is because of their habit of doing the whole crescendo thing, but whatev.) and the way 'take a bow' echoes... it's just so powerful. lol at the idea of 'real artists' (a musician, after all, being an artist, especially when that muscian happens to be matt bellamy) not mixing politics into their work. uh, yeah, okay then. i dunno, though. i agree that this is probably not about any *specific* political figure/s, but more about corrupt government's as a whole. of course, it obviously *is* supposed to reflect on the current political climate, but that's definitely not the be-all and end-all of it. could matt bellamy be anymore amazing? xx` |
Danny Elfman – This Is Halloween Lyrics | 17 years ago |
so, you all totally need to hear marilyn manson's version of this for the new soundtrack, because WOW. it seriously is awesome. i feel sad for people who don't love this film, because they really are kinda of missing something from their lives. |
Evanescence – Even In Death Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Haha. I just watched "The Crow" for the first time this afternoon, and at the end when Sarah said: « If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever. » I was all 'OMG THAT BIT IS IN MY FAVOURITE EVER EVANESCENCE SONG. THEY HAVE TAKEN THAT STRAIGHT FROM THIS FILM!!'. I was ridiculously excited by this, and realised that it has been WAY too long since I heard this song. I listened to it on repeat for practically a whole summer, along with Dido's "White Flag", a couple of years ago. Such a beautiful, amazing song. Wow. |
Sandi Thom – I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
«punk rockers dont wear flowers on their heads. stupid» yeah, but that's fairly irrelevant when you consider the fact that by saying that she's referring not just to punk rockers but to hippies, too. hence the inclusion of '77 (punk) and '69 (hippy). s'a catchy song. i didn't really care for it at first, but it's grown on me now that i get the punk rock/flowers reference. |
Take That – Back For Good Lyrics | 18 years ago |
«Take That remind me of Westlife.» What a stupid comment. a) they're completely different, but opinion is subjective, so that's not so bad. b), though; well, surely it should be 'Westlife remind me of Take That', considering that Take That came first? (& are clearly far superior. I saw them live last night at Manchester City Stadium, and homg. They were amazing, even sans Robbie.) & this song is one of my TT favourites, though "Babe" is my actual fave. Man, I miss them. I hope they do bring out a new album; Mark said "if you're lucky there might be a new album on the way", so fingers crossed! :)) |
Take That – Babe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is the most amazing song when you're hearing it live, in a sold-out stadium, with thousands of people equally as in awe as you are. the best experience of my life. |
Jason Mraz – Bella Luna Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"bella luna, i believe is the moon" well, obviously, but the moon has been tied to/representative of femininity since ancient times, so this song is basically an ode to the woman he loves. Such a beautiful, beautiful song. «You're dancing naked there for me [...] language of a lover» is my favourite bit, although it's "INTERTWINING like a ring...", not "into twining like a ring..." My favourite favourite Jason Song. :)) |
James Blunt – Goodbye My Lover Lyrics | 18 years ago |
«You touched my heart you touched my soul. You changed my life and all my goals. And love is blind and that I knew when, My heart was blinded by you. I've kissed your lips and held your head. Shared your dreams and shared your bed. I know you well, I know your smell. I've been addicted to you.» Yeah, this bit brings tears to my eyes. So beautiful and sad. |
Savage Garden – Truly Madly Deeply Lyrics | 18 years ago |
easily one of the greatest love songs ever. |
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars Lyrics | 18 years ago |
these lyrics should be; «those three words are said too much they're not enough» this song is amazing. i love it. i listen to it with my boyfriend and it's perfect. i love the music -- how it builds up and then goes all quiet again. s'pretty. |
Snow Patrol – Set the Fire to the Third Bar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ooh, actually, I think it's; "dreaming pick up from the last place we left off" pick, not pink or picked. :)) |
Snow Patrol – Set the Fire to the Third Bar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"dreaming picked up from the last place we left off" ? This song is so, so pretty. |
Rachel Stevens – Funky Dory Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I am disappointed in myself for only just realising that this song samples Bowie's 'Andy Warhol'. It's a fun song, though. |
Ashlee Simpson – Undiscovered Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Has nobody else noticed how the underlying tune to this song is, if not the same, then so similar as to be indistinguishable to Cloud Number Nine by Bryan Adams? |
Son Of Dork – sick Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. It's about obsessive love, yes, and making the choice between what's right or wrong - he's saying he COULD do this, he could kill them both, he could turn into a creappy stalker guy, but in the end he knows it's not worth it, and he decides to just get over it insstead... it's kind of a self-explanatory song. But so cool. :D |
Savage Garden – I Want You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
From http://www.darrenhayesnet.com/quotes.html; «and what I Want You is talking about is a wet dream... basically. [...] I mean, listen to the lyrics 'Every time I need to see your face I just close my eyes'» Man. I love him. I love this song. It's just so fun. :D |
Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What the fuck ever. This song is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. I have fallen madly in love with it in an afternoon. #you spin around me like a dream we played out on this movie screen# Just, yeah. It's amazing. |
Creed – My Own Prison Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Grrrrreat song, is awesome on thesoundtrack of 'Bang Bang You're Dead'. There's a lot of biblical/religious references in it, but I don't think that they're the most important part; it's pretty much the same 'we're responsible for our own actions' message, with or without the religious elements. :) |
Alphaville – Forever Young Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love the remix of this w/Laura. Heard it played on Queer as Folk, and have had it on repeat practically ever since. It's absolutely beautiful. I love it completely and totall. And, yes, I do want to live forever. :D |
Hoobastank – The Reason Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Can you imagine how amazing it would feel to be the person that this song was written about? I love it because it makes me think about all the Romeo&Juliet style loves I've ever been obsessed with (Buffy/Angel, Brian/Justin in particular). It's not my favourite song ever, but only because it's damn hard to choose a favourite song. I can't listen to this without turning it up really loud and just singing along. |
Garbage – Cup Of Coffee Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My third favourite Garbage song, after YLSF and Cherry Lips. I listened to it obsessively on repeat for about three weeks after my girlfriend broke up with me, and it made me cry so much. The parts relating to knowing the score and not being friends are so easy for me to relate to; we were really close before we got together, and I knew it wasn't going to work out; and then she still wanted to be friends and it hurt a lot. I'm not really sure this song helped do anything but prolong the agony, but it's so perfect and beautiful to listen to. |
Garbage – You Look So Fine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I absolutely adore this song; it's replaced Dido's 'Here With Me' as my favourite ever song. First heard it on episode 1.20 of Queer as folk US, so I always associate it with Brian&Justin; it really fits in with their non-relationship, from both their points of view, depending on the angle you look at it from. It's beautiful, though. So haunting and melodic and pretty. - S |
Savage Garden – I Want You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I adore this song. And, it's a LOT of fun to sing along to! :D |
