| i read an interview of conor, in which he was talking about his collaboration to produce this song. he said that he told mike he wanted it to sound like the nextdoor neighbor was listening into this happening in the next appartment over - which accounts for the creaking of the floor as the nosy neighbor walks around, and the changing of the tv channels in the background. i just thought tat was really interesting when i read it. just wanted to share! | |

this song is awesome, about a relationship ending that he thought wpuld work out. he doesnt want to make it hard on the girl so he's telling her he's still there for her through the breakup - or, if she wants, he'll "change [his] name" and she can pretend she never knew him. i cant believe im the first to comment, its an absoltely beautiful song. my favorite by son, ambulance. |

conor did write it, but jake is just singing. it still is a bright eyes song. i do think its about amy from "amy in a white coat," i;m not sure why, but i mean there are sooo many girls' names out there, so why else would conor choose "amy" twice out of them all? this song is so beautiful. i love when conor comes in at the end, the contrast of their voices is wonderful. |

my god i fucking LOVE this song. the way it twists and turns... and his screaming towards the end... i cry every time i hear those last lines "And I want a place to hang out where record players play out And there’s a thousand movies rented for a thousand nights with her .." just that serach and desire for perfection is so unbelievable and far away.. yet its all one really wants; complete calm. i love it more than anything. |
