josh pyke has great imagery in his lyricism and this song is no exception. i love the part where he sings..

I think that part rounds up the whole point of the song. Life is short and we should take it one day at a time and enjoy it. Young love is the main subject matter. I think he is reflecting and being nostalgic about his past feelings not necessarily about a person but about a time. |

reminds me of the brand new song 'good to know...'
where he sings 'we prey as wolves among the sheep'...slight resemblence.
it appears that this could be the gritty side of the music industry. the money and greed. i think i read somewhere treos said they dislike how music is manufactured so much and how its like a conveyour belt trying to churn out the next money making record. fast music like fast food. leaves you unfilled after a short time. they like to think of their music as a full meal. something long lasting and satisfying. which is the way creativity should be. btw thats an analogy they used themselves. hence the line 'youve got to push that push that product'.
alot of the time artists dont have a choice and its a shame that they have to abide by that formula but its a sacrifice made to keep going. no doubt that people who are in it for the love of music feel strongly about this. |

then why is house of leaves hidden track based on the book house of leaves? how can that make it all based on eternal sunshine? plus the great golden baby is written about the joining of all the band members and creating circa survive, their 'great golden baby'....i think they may have said its related but i doubt wholey based on it. |

people people people...its all metaphoric. just coz the title says 'holding someones hair back' doesnt mean literally holding their hair back and being drunk or whatever else has been implied. its a metaphor to represent someone that youre there for but when push comes to shove theyre not there for you when you need them the most. the actual song is not based ON eternal sunshine of the spotless mind but it is used to portray feelings and images that the writer feels of his experences by using the scenes of the movie metaphorially. No idea what his personal feelings are but what people have written in regards to the scenes of the movie are correct. For instance 'shes got the photos but no recollection' is based on the parts of the film where Clementines memory is erased and she shes photographs but doesnt recall them. I will say that this song in particular is heavily influenced by that movie. Seriously doubt Anthony Green would be so straight forward with his lyrics. Thats why I think people should look a bit deeper at the lyrical content. For someone who couldnt read untill he was like 20 he is a genius. |

i kinda get the feeling he is speaking of regret. he failed at one point of his past and he did nothing at the time. now he reflects back on those memories and comes to terms that he cant change what has happened before no matter how much he dwells on it. realisation sets in. |
