this song, in the literal sense, is about the day his child was born and how he felt rushing his wife to the hospital. "Rollin' down the highway. Like a rocket..." And in one more mile, they'll be at the hospital and she will be fine. It's a mix of wanting to reassure his wife and being so focused on that everything else fades...hence the repetitive words... |

I think I agree partly with everyone so far. I'd like to pose another perspective..."Is someone getting the best of you..." meaning, he's getting the crap end and someone else got the goods. I think this song asks the questions, "who were you so good to that you can't be good to me?" For anyone who's been with someone who just got out of some rough times, you know you get caught up in trying to save/love/understand them although they have issues. |
