I agree with adrianarox. Beautiful, intelligent song. Though it is very romantic in my opinion, it is not obvious, neither in the lyrics, neither in the sound. I love the line "Would you like to be my Misses..." and the final "goddess"- part. |

U2 – Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses Lyrics

I also do think, the song is about a broken-up relationship.
Right bradleyb, "who's gonna taste your salt water kisses" ==> they often argued, she cried and they made it up
"The doors you open, I just can't close" ==> he can't give her, what she wants/needs
My favourite part is the end, in my opinion absolute despiration:
Don't turn around,... => I don't need you anymore, "piss off"
Don't you look back, ..=> Come on now love, don't you look back => I still love you, please return...but she does not return |

Very great song, I love the beginning and the end, the song as a whole sounds so fragile. |

The lyrics cannot reach Depeche Mode-quality (like In Your Room, Judas, Precious,...). Gahan should quit writing...But the mood is great, reminds me of Joy Division... |

SOFAD is by far the best album they've ever released. In your room - the lyrics are simply great. "I need you so much, will this relationship between us last forever?" -great!!!! |

Depeche Mode – Precious Lyrics

Great song, even greater lyrics. This song reminds me of the early period of Depeche Mode (probably "See You"), the sound effects are reduced to a minimum. The vocals are very up to date, you can hear the development in Dave's voice (sounds a bit like "Only when I lose myself). The lyrics are really great, yes, it's about Martin's children.
Looking forward to the album... |

IMO this is one of the best songs ever. I like all American-Recordings- records, but especially the fourth is so amazing. On Hurt, Johnny's voice is extremly fragile, this interpretation is perfect...WOW |

Does anybody of you know the song "Eighties" by "Killing Joke"? It sounds exactly the same, but it is from 1985. You really should listen to it. In the nevermind-booklet, allegedly all songs are written by Nirvana/Cobain... |

Probably the greatest metaphor I know...drowning like a fly in my drink...she suffers (the fly drowns), but instead of suffering with her, it bothers him (he is sick of it all / wants to get rid og the fly in his drink)...great!! |

The Cure – The Same Deep Water as You Lyrics
| 19 years ago

Yeah, the best album ever, in my opinion. It's so perfect, thanks Robert Smith! From the moment I first listened to Disintegration, The Same Deep Water As You was my favourite a song on it (although they are all brilliant). But what does the line
"Swimming the same deep water as you is hard
"The shallow drowned lose less than we""
mean?
I mean suicide/drowning is clear, but why "shallow drowned? What is the difference here between the 'shallow drowned' and 'deep water'? |
