The Flaming Lips – The Spark That Bled Lyrics 19 years ago
nice zeroone. it was on the tip of my brain all scattered about and you tied some loose ends together for me. "the softest bullet ever shot" is the inherent fear of death that religions realize and the myths that have grown to quell that fear. he may have even gotten into the mix at some point and got caught up in it (saying ya) but then realizing deep down that he knows the truth. "in reality there was no reaction", it's all fabricated. i think that the bleeding head is possibly a concussion during which he glimpsed the truth of it all. the truth being so simple, in our conscious minds we do not know what happens to us when we die but in our subconscious we do. -- love the song immensely.

The Flaming Lips – The Gash Lyrics 19 years ago
this is my very favorite flaming lips song (right now) bar none. so many meanings to so many of the lips songs. wayne can say something that seems so simple but deliver it in a way that opens your mind to so many other possiblities. so each song can truly be yours, it's a high form of sharing and not being so stereotypically narcissistic. i agree with all of your interpretations. for me it reminds me of therapy and touches on so many wonderful things. opening old (or fresh) emotional wounds and battling them. eyes being wide open to all that is your self, all of your gashes, and realizing that you, just like the rest of us, are indeed broken and that is fine and dandy as long as you are searching for answers and even the truth. having a soul represented as an army or a passionate movement and no matter what, there will forever be at least one volunteer to keep fighting. in that way it also touches on suicide. perhaps looking at someone who is on the brink and saying hey, we're all in this boat, it's not just you, c'mon mang don't throw in the towel, get out there and fight. (the first verses being directed at "you" and the latter part of the song referring to we. god i love this song.
Will the fight for sanity be the fight of our lives?
Now that we've lost all the reasons that we thought that we had.
yes, i believe so.

The Flaming Lips – Slow Motion Lyrics 19 years ago
i feel like this sometimes. everything slows down and focus comes with it. and with that focus you can readily decide who you want to be with (hey c'mon over). or they are high as mf'ers and are just describing how that makes them feel. some many possible meanings in most of the lips songs. all seemingly thrown together on a whim but so deep at the same time. you can listen to them in so many different ways and in so many different moods and keep getting more and more out of each song.

The Flaming Lips – The Spiderbite Song Lyrics 19 years ago
this song sounds like a slow dance on a rain drop falling in slow motion into a circus. it is sooo beautiful. i think this song is about true friendship (which, of course, includes love) and how much the things (good and bad) that happen to your true friends can affect you and nearly crush you. i feel that way about my son and i think of him every time i hear this song. to see him go through his triumphs and near misses and failures and only really being able to watch him and listen to him because they are his experiences. you can't go make that girl fall back in love with him or turn the wheel of the car or kill the spider before it bites. it's about acceptance of that lack of control you have over the pain someone you love goes through. and that's what makes it dreamy and delicious.

The Postal Service – This Place Is a Prison Lyrics 19 years ago
moment of clarity.
he is sick of being stuck in the rut of his evenings. this party scene/city life is lacking substance and he wants to scream about it. he hates it but hedoesn't scream about it. instead he allows these thoughts to dissentigrate in the viscious cycle of it all. the entire song is about a 30 second observation that he probably has every night when he goes to the bar to get his first drink (or two). after that alcohol and/or cocaine does it's job and he's right back in it. i believe this song is his moment of clarity this is his way of screaming about it.

The Beta Band – To You Alone Lyrics 19 years ago
i believe the word is "line". i think he is referring to the theory that everything (at it's smallest possible level) is connected. therefore, there is a line between any two points (or people) connecting them. in this way my pinky toe is connecto to some particle in the ring of saturn, etc. it's so hard to understand what these crazy fockers are getting at sometimes.
