Tokyo Police Club – Breakneck Speed Lyrics
| 13 years ago
|
I think this is about growing up with friends, and then things start to change. Like, when you're young, your voices tend to sound "the same" before puberty. If you want to take that literally anyways. And I guess him and his friend grew apart as the years went on. |

Tokyo Police Club – Not Sick Lyrics

I definitely agree with the "son on karaoke night" part. That seems to make more sense to me, because like I've said on other songs on this site, I think this album is about family and growing up mostly. It just feels more emotional too. |

Tokyo Police Club – Wait Up (Boots Of Danger) Lyrics
| 13 years ago
|
So, here's my 2 cents on the whole thing. I think the entire album is about childhood memories, family, and growing up.
That being said, I think that this is a song from a mom's point of view to her son. He's growing up, and is it at that stage where he grows further apart from his parents. He "never gets nervous anymore". And never tells her anything anymore. All these sorts of things seem to indicate a son becoming more and more independent of his parents. |

Bruce Springsteen – I'm on Fire Lyrics
|
I'd like to say that this song is about everything everyone has said and at the same time none of it. The lyrics are quite vague, but its pretty clearly about some kind of taboo love. The people in question are never mentioned, nor what type of people they are, but its most clear above all else that this is a love song. |

Guns N' Roses – Better Lyrics
|
I'm really confused at all of this. I mean, I admire Slash, he's a great guitar player with a signature style. It may not be guns n' roses, but its still a band. I just don't get how one guy can write all the songs, play, sing, mix, and do all this work and then a bunch of people like you can just go and criticize it because one guitar player is missing. A guitar player is a guitar player is a guitar player. Maybe it isn't your cup of tea, but you just honestly sound like you're throwing around some oft repeated phrase "needs moar slash lol". |

Pink Floyd – Any Colour You Like Lyrics
|
Well, according to Waters, the song was inspired by seeing people auctioning stuff off of the back of a truck and repeating the line "any colour you like... they're all blue" Which I take to meaning like, you're presented with a choice, but there's no choice in reality. It has nothing to with drugs. Nothing. nothing. nothing. nothing. and the prism on the front of the album? it was chosen only because the members of the band liked it. |

Mew – Special Lyrics
|
well, asking my friends who are in japanese class, agarina does not mean anything in that language. I expect it more to mean what iron cat said. There's a girl that he's with, and she basically treats him like crap to the point where he doesn't care.
I think the "You're Special" line goes either one or both ways: one possibility is that he means it as how he feels about the girl, which she unfortunately doesn't return. another one that I thought it might be is that its sarcastic. so much as that this girl treats him bad, but she thinks she's so much better, and he sarcastically tells her that she's SO special.
and the third way is that it could mean both. at the first half of the song, it could mean that he feels that this girl really is special, and he still cares about the things she's said to me. and then as it progresses, he falls out of love with her and realizes that she was so condescending and mean, treating him like he's this lowly parasite. |

All – Dot Lyrics
|
this song is kind of my life right now. maybe I'm misinterpreting it for that reason, but here's what I think its about: a guy and a girl are going out, but they rarely get to see eachother. neither of them can drive. and even though they don't live that far away, they still can't see eachother. He's starting to forget what she looked like. |

Chicago – 25 or 6 to 4 Lyrics

yeah, the song thing seems to fit pretty well into it. another song like this is Pain's square pegs. well, as a composer, I know what this feels like. sure I don't have any deadlines to meet since i'm only 16, but the stress of writing lyrics and music is immense. |

The Posies – Dream All Day Lyrics

|
I can't believe no one has commented on this song. this is such an awesome band.
what I think the song is about is a person who spends all of his time thinking about dreams and plans but never gets around to any of it because he's wasted too much time thinking about it. |

We Are Scientists – This Scene Is Dead Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
At first I was a little apprehensive about the song. The first time I heard it was yesterday when me and a few of my female friends went to the mall (We were on a band trip and that's where they took us to eat). She dragged me into blue anchor (which is a store like american eagle)
I waited till about halfway through the song before releazing how good this song was and wrote down a few of the lyrics so I could go look for it.
Looking at the song, it could be about both drinking yourself till you black out and johnny cash. Although, if it had been about him, I think the lyrics might've gotten a bit more expansive then just the drinking. |

Faith No More – Epic Lyrics
|
Well, reading through the lyrics, I thought: Porn.
Think about. It's like that type of poetic writing that goes from good to bad. It starts out as being "groovy" and "out-of-sight", but then at the second half of the song, it becomes "a sin" "dark"
Another possible meaning could be going from pent up pervert to sexual offender."Sharing It." "You Bare it but you tear it." "Crying and bleeding on the floor" sounds like the victims reaction. And near the end, the words get darker, like the person who did it is feeling remorse, but at the same time still thinking about how "moist" it had been and how it had been a loss and a win. It was magic, but at the same time so tragic for his victim. |

I love this song. For awhile, I didn't know this song was even by them. Heck, I didn't even know it had been written in the 90s. I thought it sounded more 70s.
Not sure what it's about though. |

Afghan Whigs – What Jail Is Like Lyrics
|
I can't believe that I'm the only one who's heard this song. Actually, nevermind. This was one of the good examples of bands that were good but never went mainstream.
I don't know what this song is about, but it feels like being trapped by your shame and felling lonely. Thus, this must be what jail is like. Loneliness, regret, and entrapment. |

Tears for Fears – Closest Thing to Heaven Lyrics

Not exactly like the old tears for fears, but still an odd and original song. A lot of weird stuff going with the guitar. I think the song is about missing someone close to dying or a lot of complaining about the state of the world. |

Hey, not all christians hate on anyone that attacks their beliefs, I'm mormon and most of the time, I could honestly care less about what other people think about me. I let people have their opinions, and I keep to my own.
BTW-- I enjoyed the XTC cover better. I just didn't seem like the kind of song sarah would cover. |

Well, I'm guessing the reason the kid is singing at the beginning is because he's acting like a kid.
This was a good song to me, even if I am a mormon, the song is still well written, lyrics and all. |
