Athlete – Twenty Four Hours Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"This is more than daily bread" I thought it was "baited breath"...? Anyway, since I always look for depressing undertones, I think this is about cherishing one's last moments with someone who is dying. That's just me... |
Rufus Wainwright – Evil Angel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it might have something to do with Wainwright's rape when he was a teenager. That's why this song gives me chills. D: |
Mika – Over My Shoulder Lyrics | 16 years ago |
One of the most beautiful and haunting songs I've ever heard. Ever. |
Tally Hall – Smile Like You Mean It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with lawlessly, I love the cover better than the original. Tally Hall owns the Killers in both fun and music. |
Tally Hall – Hidden in the Sand Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Tally Hall = one of my favorite bands ever. Seriously, they're so wonderful. |
Maroon 5 – Losing My Mind Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"A shy girl, so humble Thighs that make me stumble" I always thought it was "A shy girl, so humble With eyes that make me stumble" Although, being Maroon 5, I wouldn't run the "thighs" part by them... hahaha. :D |
Maroon 5 – Story Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I personally think this song is about a boy who is in love with a very good friend of his, but she is in love with another person. The thing is that this other person takes advantage of her. I think the boy is very upset by this and he wants her to love him, but he knows she is in love with this other guy, so he's basically telling this guy that she does everything for him. Anyway, that's my opinion. I hear something really sad in this song. I love the guitar part. |
Maroon 5 – Wake Up Call Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ooh, what a good single. I only really *listened* to this song today and the lyrics frightened me, but in a good way. They haven't lost their touch. |
Maroon 5 – Nothing Lasts Forever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I knew I recognized the chorus! I love the new album. :D |
Maroon 5 – Better That We Break Lyrics | 17 years ago |
My favorite song so far on the album. :) |
Jamiroquai – Virtual Insanity Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song... I always need to dance when I hear it. |
Snow Patrol – Signal Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Agreed, dustfinger. Definitely one of the best songs Snow Patrol has out right now. I want everyone I know to hear this song... it's so amazing. |
Chayanne – Torero Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song. It makes me want to dance. The lyrics are cheesy but who cares when it has a good beat, mm? |
Snow Patrol – My Last Girlfriend Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"but he whimpers it and it sounds like 'hur...*sob*' i love that bit, its incredibly passionate and i think he might really be crying or something" I definitely heard that. I think my heart just broke. D: |
Snow Patrol – An Olive Grove Facing the Sea Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think if I listen to it more, it'll evoke some kind of higher emotion in me than it does now. I find this song to be incredible, but I know in a few more listens, it'll make me sob. Thank you, Gary, for singing so beautifully. It makes the song perfect. |
Coldplay – Bucket for a Crown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I hope to goodness this is a taste of what we'll be hearing on the fourth album... this song is brilliant! It's good to hear Chris going very deep as well... it suits him well. |
Snow Patrol – It's Beginning To Get To Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The falsetto at the end is so striking and amazing. It makes me admire Gary all the more. I remember not really thinking much of the song, then one night I was doing homework with Eyes Open playing and suddenly this amazing sound just came into my ears and it was the tail end of this song. I can't get over it. |
Vega4 – Life Is Beautiful Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I adore this song, and the band along with it. I can see this song being sung in an arena with the entire audience singing the last verse. |
Umbrellas – Boston White Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I can't stop listening to it. It fills me with wonder. |
The Lucksmiths – Adolescent Song Of Mindless Devotion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is really cuteeeee. |
Keane – He Used To Be A Lovely Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just because I'm silly, I'm going to give my interpretation... regardless of how obvious it sounds. Since Tim is the one who writes all the lyrics, and Tom has had hardships this past year (thank goodness he's getting better!), I believe this song was written about Tom. "Time to leave this town Now your dreams have all let you down No one here will miss you now Time to wake up and look around" Meaning that it's time to leave wherever they're from, because they're not going to go anywhere there and all their dreams will fail. Maybe this is how Tim feels Tom felt (too many names!) and when he says, "No one here will miss you now/Time to wake up..." Tom maybe felt no one liked him enough in the first place, and by waking up and looking around, he was oblivious. "Turn away and turn a head Just a hopeless dreamer she said" When he turned away to do what he did, people turned to watch, as in, when he turned away from his life, people started to follow him. Of course, there was the lack of faith there, as some girl called him a hopeless dreamer. "Eyes of cloud and feet of lead Find a shore that needs you instead" Tom's view of the world while high, with cloudy eyes and heavy feet to find a place he fit better. By shore, maybe he means America? "Time on your hands World at your feet No adventure left incomplete" He has so much time, the world adores him and his music, and by 'adventure' I think he implies that there's no rock left unturned in Tom's world (by rock, I mean drugs?) and he does everything a rockstar is supposed to. "Find a place where you can hide From the love that holds you inside Time's so unkind Like an old friend leaves you behind" This is Tim's narrative, where he talks about how he adores Tom, but he's leaving him behind for this new lifestyle. "Time's so unkind" means that they all grow up too fast, and that it's not been a happy ride. He probably feels left behind by Tom's change in personality. The "He used to be a lovely boy" chorus is describing how Tom used to be before he fell into drugs. Just my interpretation, though. It sounded better in my head, I guess. |
Karan Casey – She Is Like The Swallow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Karan said, in the CD booklet, that it's about a woman having a miscarriage. I can't exactly remember how, and the booklet is thusly missing. I think it was about how she went into the garden to give birth, but the baby was still born, hence, "I love my love, but love is no more" meaning the baby's life is gone, and she loved it but cannot now. The river running dry is maybe blood running dry? I can't remember. 8D |
Keane – Dirrtylicious Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Best song ever. 8D |
Keane – He Used To Be A Lovely Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I would have LOVED to see this on the album! It's about 48375938292x better than "Put It Behind You," which is the only Keane song I just cannot stand. |
Augustana – Heart Shaped Gun Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song... it's so beautiful. It's amazing live. |
Keane – He Used To Be A Lovely Boy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Such a beautiful song. :c |
Keane – Emily Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The way he says Emily is so eerie. It sounds like he's regretting saying something, or regretting losing her. I don't know. I hear a lot of desperation in this song... :c |
Cary Brothers – Ride Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is so beautiful. I'm in love. |
Rufus Wainwright – Evil Angel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree, very dark and cold and emotionally driven. I can't figure it out, but I am blown away by it. |
Rufus Wainwright – Evil Angel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I agree, very dark and cold and emotionally driven. I can't figure it out, but I am blown away by it. |
Rufus Wainwright – Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Such contrast between lyrics with such depth and such an upbeat, striding tempo. It provides a song that doesn't have as black-and-white a composition as most of these days' songs do. Truly amazing in all ways. |
Augustana – Angels Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is so beautiful. I cried when I heard it. I can't tell anyone what it means because I don't know what it means, but it's so pretty. D: |
Tally Hall – The Bidding Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I've been here like a thousand times" should be "I've been in like a thousand times" Way cool song. |
Coldplay – For You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I first heard this song on my iPod in France (with 169 Coldplay songs, each song gets about one listen until I've figured out which ones I absolutely adore) and I almost burst into tears, just like with Proof, because I was struck with the beauty of it. Coldplay never fails, NEVER fails, to impress me and make me feel like there's something on the horizon for me. :) |
Coldplay – Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't. I find the studio version to be better because it's more soulful to me. I really like the very end, with the drums and piano and just all the vocal ensemble... it always gets me. :) |
Coldplay – Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song always makes me want to cry. Not because of the lyrics... it just reminds me how I will never meet Chris Martin ever... and that makes me so sad. D: But this is still one of my favorite songs... ever. |
Coldplay – Where Is My Boy? (feat. Faultline) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
What album is it on?? |
The Wallflowers – From the Bottom Of My Heart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is my favorite Wallflowers song. It always makes me think, especially the line: "Not every smile means I'm laughing inside" Simply put, this song is really melodic and pretty. I'm surprised no one's commented; this song is obviously one of the best on Rebel, Sweetheart. Jakob Dylan is a genius. :) |
Coldplay – Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh, but it's so beautiful. The studio version of the song comes out on DECEMBER 19th with their new Talk single. I cannot wait; the studio version will make me bawl if the live version could make me cry. I am just so excited for it to come out! |
The Killers – Replaceable Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh, and... this song. It's beautiful. Instantly one of my favorites. I believe it is Brandon, but it really doesn't sound like it. I guess he just has a different voice when singing on a demo. I mean, in other songs he's just kind of screaming the lyrics. NOT TO SAY I MIND, lol. |
The Killers – Replaceable Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It doesn't sound like Brandon singing! :O At least in my version. Weird! |
The Killers – The Ballad of Michael Valentine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Zythe, you have it right on the nose for me. That was my conception too: more like, a boy spends his last few days with his boyfriend before they go their seperate ways. GOD I love this site. This has to be one of my favorite Killers songs. ;3 |
The Killers – Under the Gun Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I heard this song at the Seattle concert. I was so blown away, I think I left scorch marks on the seats. So I grabbed them off my friend's computer and jam to it on my iPod. It's one of my favorite Killers songs. I think it's about a guy who's living in denial that his girlfriend is some kind of thief, murderer, etc... because he's convinced that she's an angel, even though she kills. "His whole life is under the gun" could be that if he tells, she'll blow his brains out. Just my opinion. I also agree with Daisuke. |
The Killers – Change Your Mind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
*inattentive Excuse me. Didn't know it was only on the North American release. Apologies. |
British Sea Power – North Hanging Rock Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Like I did with Poison Oak (Bright Eyes) and Proof (Coldplay), I teared up when this song came on for the first time. The tune is perfect to get this point across. It's obvious there is a drug reference here. "Witness the demolition of a boy in prime condition" really sums up the use of drugs in teens these days. "Tell them all I am so sorry/Oh, I wish I could have said goodbye" may be a suicide note, like he couldn't take it anymore. I really think this song deserves more comments. BSP is just a magnificent band. I am in love with them. |
The Killers – Change Your Mind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Athlete, first of all, the song IS on Hot Fuss. Have you bought it or are you just... unattentive? The band says it is, in fact, "RACY days". I would trust the band. They did, after all, write the song. It says so in the little book thing at the front. I love this song. :3 It's my favorite on Hot Fuss. |
Coldplay – Don't Panic Lyrics | 18 years ago |
" Fools! This is dont panic!" Lol. XD But it is Don't Panic. :3 |
Coldplay – Proof Lyrics | 19 years ago |
" Why aren't they considered a Christian Band?!" Because this song has nothing to do with God. :) It has to do with love. I think he wrote it for Apple or Gwenyth. One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. So beautiful and romantic and sad, all at the same time, like a man needs proof that life is worth living, and he looks at those important to him and realizes that it is worth living, and those people are proof. Beautiful. I love Coldplay so much. |
Coldplay – The Hardest Part Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My favorite songs are What If and Swallowed in the Sea on the album... =blush= I love them. My favorite Coldplay song is Green Eyes, though. |
Coldplay – The Hardest Part Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love the song. :) One of my favorites. (I still love Swallowed in the Sea.) |
