Yo La Tengo – Drug Test Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just a couple notes: I think the first line is "Ate a leftover steak for breakfast." And it's "Wave of the Flood" (it's a song by the Grateful Dead.) |
Yo La Tengo – Little Honda Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I take this song at face value; I think it's just about a guy taking his girl out for a ride on his "groovy little motorbike." |
Emiliana Torrini – Fingertips Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about getting high. |
My Chemical Romance – Song 2 (Blur cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song doesn't really have a meaning; not lyrically anyway. I've never heard this version so I don't know what MCR did with it, but the original is a loud and distorted grunge anthem designed to get you pumped. It was Blur's way of incorporating the American mainstream of the time in to their music so they could break in to a new market. Mission accomplished if you ask me, since MCR probably wouldn't know who Blur was if it weren't for this song (and I'm sure the same goes for most of their fans as well.) Matthew Good – Avalanche Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I always thought this song was about Hitler. And everyone knows Matt once wanted to be a history teacher so it just seemed to fit. "One foot infront of the other, one foot back to counter it." Because his ambitions were strong, however misdirected. He wanted Germany to once again be a strong nation. Then there's the whole third verse. "We're ruined but we're building." "The world's stopping but we keep going." Germany suffered a tremendous blow after losing World War 1. Hitler brought it back to power and continued to want to fight even after the rest of the world had moved on. Cause "in the days like these, you gotta find it in some other way." Just my opinion. |
