Red Hot Chili Peppers – Funky Monks Lyrics 19 years ago
yeah anthony's sayin that he's a pretty good person but he just likes to get his dick wet but sometimes it doesn't work out because of the rough circumstances of being on the road. he's pointing out the negative aspects of being a famous rock star who everybody thinks is great...when really he's a humble man aware of his own problems and flaws. been a fan all my life, they really need to tour the states soon.

Modest Mouse – Novocain Stain Lyrics 19 years ago
i couldn't agree with you more bellyfull of swans. it's cool how this song starts out with a love song feel but changes pace when he explains different ideas of commercialism and urban sprawl. brock sings about the thoughts and ideas that i've always had, his play on words really puts coherent light on them.

Modest Mouse – Tundra/Desert Lyrics 19 years ago
this song is the shiiiiit. i love his analogies to deserts, it really leaves the lyrics open to a lot of meanings since the dessert is so undefined. what i get from this song is that so many kids are raised up to grow up and make as much money as possible and not give a damn about anyone else. and he's questioning the morality of politicians and big businessmen.they put on this facade of religion to cover up the fickle selfish asshole that's on the inside...when the whole idea of religion is a bunch of bullshit anyway. "Every governor's mother knows
That their bread is buttered by Sam" and "Every kindhearted banker I don't think there is one"
-what good song writing, damn. Yeah, and what about science?? i also agree with try's interpretation of the song. aaaaaahhhhhh SHIT!

Modest Mouse – Tiny Cities Made of Ashes Lyrics 19 years ago
yeah skd2k1 what the fuck are you talking about? This isn't about mm selling out because why would a band ever write a song about themselves selling out? ever think about that one? Sure, mm is on a big record label, they have endorsements, and they have a few songs on the radio but who wouldn't do that to make some extra bucks? It's one thing when bands come out with their first or second album and immediately sell out to pop culture...but mm has gained a huge loyal fan base over the years so it's cool that their material is being heard a little bit on the mainstream. good bands get big, well, most good bands. the mm sound appeals to a lot of people because of it's catchy riffs, incease and decrease of tempos, the jammin, and brock's abstract but meaningful lyrics. so screw all of you who are so critical of mm "selling out" people are just mad because more people are starting to find out about them and it isn't hip and orgininal to listen to them because they're having radio success...whatever, i'll always be a true fan of the mouse. they're some progressive mother fuckers. you can't go wrong with their windy guitars and concept albums.

As far as the meaning of this song when he says "We’re goin’ down the road towards tiny cities made of ashes
Gonna hit you on the face gonna punch you in your
glasses. Oh no" he is talking about the average american midwest highway town with it's corporate businesses and cheaply constructed infrastructures and buildings that are destructing the earth and are dimming our eyesight and percetption of our surroundings. Brock often ridicules american capitalism/commercialism because of it's lack of originality("Does anybody know a way that a body could get away") and because of it's enormous negative impact it has on people-an idea that he refers to on the next three songs on the album and which is the concept on the album loansome crowded west. we continue to rely on a corporate/capitalist lifestyle for it's conveniences while it's destroying the earth. we're trapped in a culture where people have no sense of the impact capitalism has on the environment-drinking coka-a-cola, i can feel it roll right down my throat .we're too blind to see we're watching ourselves causing the world to be unsustainable for life to evolve and exist they way it should. we are on a road to end of the world-hell freezing over, hey boy git a sweater. He mentions all kinds of things, take what you will. i love his sarcastism about religion and his agnostic ideas and questions. sorry for so much text, i just felt like ranting a little.
