i think the chorus is definitely the narrator calling his ex. and he wants to know about her sex life.
then he says that she has "too much to wear on your sleeves" which i think means he caused her a lot of emotional baggage and it's too much for her to handle. he wants to forget about their "scarred" relationship and just move on.
the next verse discribes how she comes back to her old life or his social group and talks about her new life and boyfriend. she tells the narrator that she still loves him, even though she has a boyfriend, which is what the "criminal eyes" part refers to (her disloyalty).
im a little confused about the last part. maybe the "metal" means her toughness or armor. which apparently isnt working too well, because it is made of "doe's skin (a baby deer, not a corpse) and petals". this might mean that she's putting up a front about loving her new boyfriend, but the narrator can tell that she's really fragile.
i think "kissing the lipless" means trying to make something work that can't, that being her new relationship. it's like she's trying to make out with someone with no lips. |
