Damn, this is a sad song... moving, beautiful, powerful, and just heart-wrenching. I feel for Jem in this one. I really don't need to discuss the meaning, as it is pretty obvious that the artist is missing a dearly departed someone (PJ Matthews, apparently). |

No, I'm pretty certain that this isn't about suicide or a bad relationship. Someone said it was inspiring and I think that to be true. I believe this is about people who, plain and simple, want to die. The artist begs you to hold on and BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. Wishing to die just may come true and you will only then really realize that when it's too late (24 hours, in this case). You realize that you still have plans to carry out, people to talk to, things to do and see. You realize that you have a FUTURE. The message is to pull yourself out of whatever sludge that got you to the point of longing for death and CARRY ON with life. Fufill your dreams, your hopes, your plans. We are only given so much time on this God-forsaken planet and some people less than others for various reasons (war, murder, accidents..). In all actuality, you go to bed each night not knowing if you will live through tomorrow. Wasting such precious little time will get you no where. |
