Pink Floyd – The Final Cut Lyrics 18 years ago
I finally found out why a gunshot replaces the "the wall" in this line: "dial the combination, open the priesthole, and if I'm in I'll tell you what's behind the wall". The reason is that the song was originally written for The Wall album. But was removed from the final cut. When they used it for this album they covered over any references to The Wall to sepearate it from that album.

One Of My Turns, "my favourite axe". I guess they did call guitars axes...

David Gilmour – This Heaven Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it has something to do with his atheism; he feels he does not need a "heaven" when he believes that this "earthly heaven" is enough for him.

That was awful! Just finished listening to the Foo Fighters version of this brilliant song. Straight in the Recycle Bin... maybe I should have shredded it instead. I think I might download it again just so I can shred it properly. Pink Floyd stole the show at Live8. I hope Live8 achieves all of it's goals, but I wouldn't mind if 20 years later Pink Floyd reformed again for Live7 (after the US squanders all it's money on starting wars and drops out of the 8 most powerful world powers)!

Pink Floyd – What Shall We Do Now? Lyrics 19 years ago
It IS "Store up leisure", Arnold! Go and raid some washing lines for new panties! Lol. Excellent song! Strong emotion! I sometimes play it instead of Empty Spaces when I listen to The Wall. I always add Empty Spaces as well though because it seguees perfectly into Young Lusts,

I no it might sound like a cliche but daysleeper is also right! It is lines converging! As for what Cymbaline is? Who knows? I don't! Do you?

I was going to leave a comment on 50 Cent's Candy Shop, but then I thought WHAT IS THE POINT!? So, I'll stick to leaving comments for proper grown-up songs! Lol. What can I say Shine On is a classic! I also prefer the second part to the first, mainly because of the start and the finish... and the bits in between...

Pink Floyd – Celestial Voices Lyrics 19 years ago
This is actually a section taken from A Saucerful Of Secrets. There are four sections in the song:
a. Something Else
b. Syncopated Pandemonium
c. Storm Signal
d. Celestial Voices

Listen to the song in it's entirety and it's even better!

Pink Floyd – One of These Days Lyrics 19 years ago
Wow! I thought we were talking about One Of These Days! Ah well, what a brilliant song. You must listen/watch the Live At Pompeii version. It is brilliant. This song has always conjured up images of a tornaado or storm. Mainly because of the howling wind at the beginning and because I was probably 4 when I first listened to this and it's hard to shake off a first impression.

Killspy, Floyd has that effect on people! Many times have I got a tear in my eye after really listening to The Wall, DSOTM, Echoes, Atom Heart Mother the list goes on. The live version of this song on Ummagumma is the best version I have heard. I didn't like the Pompeii version as much. Mainly because it was too fast in places. I wish more bands these days gave experimentation a shot rather that sticking to crowd pleasing, dance/pop/rap music. Although, you get the odd "what the hell were you thinking!?" you also stumble across the odd gem. Saucerful being one of those jems!

Thanks WorkingClassLoser. Makes sense I suppose. It is quite irritating that I have so many questions about probably the least commented Pink Floyd album on this site; months pass before you hear anything sometimes. I might start going out instead! Hmm...

Pink Floyd – Careful with That Axe, Eugene Lyrics 19 years ago
I've changed my mind. The best version of this song is from the Pink Floyd - Live At Pompeii video. It is also longer, slower, more-atmospheric and with the bonus advantage of being able to watch the Floyd making beautiful music... literally (sexual reference not intended).

Pink Floyd – The Final Cut Lyrics 19 years ago
Oh, one more thing! The lyrics say "dial the combination, open the priesthole, and if I'm in I'll tell you what's behind the wall". But I can't hear anyone saying that. It just cuts off this line at "I'll tell you.." with a gunshot. Maybe I have a dodgy version! Although, a lot of my Final Cut tracks seem to be missing posted lyrics.

Has any one seen the video for this song? What does that mean? It has a load of clips in it from some sort of 1930's-40s beauty pagent like Miss World or something. It also has clips of Roger Waters, with his face blacked out, singing the song to someone who seems to be a pyschiatrist. What's a beauty pagent go to do with the song? Why is Roger's face blacked out? Does anyone know?

Pink Floyd – Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict Lyrics 19 years ago
The voice of the Scottish bloke is definetly Roger Waters. Notice how it sounds very similar indeed to the teacher from The Wall (The Trial), which is sung by Waters. What a song eh? Lol.

i do have one question about this song that noone else seems to know... when roger comes back on with the fifth verse, what does he say after "i used to read books but...". it sounds something like "he caught fishing jacks". i know that's not what it is but thats what it sounds like.

the best version of this track has to from the first disc of the ummagumma album. its a live version played in manchester i think. the track is longer, and slightly slower, more atmospheric and the scream in the middle is really loud and much more terrifying. i do like the studio version as well tho!

the posted lyrics are wrong, im sure its this instead:

the path you tread is narrow and the drop is sheer and very high

that makes much more sense. excellent song! classic floyd!

Pink Floyd – Two Suns in the Sunset Lyrics 19 years ago
this song is a perfect end to a great album. it sends shivers down my spine. also i think that as roger waters knew that the band would split after this album he wanted this to be the "final cut" (their last album) and thats why he didnt want pink floyd to carry on afterwards. just a thought...

Pink Floyd – Speak to Me Lyrics 19 years ago
The first song on Dark Side of the Moon is actually split into two different songs: Speak To Me and Breathe. Speak To Me is the part at the beginning when you hear the heart beat and people talking. Breathe is the one with the lyrics and music.

I might be mistaken, but when Roger Waters spat on a fan it was at a live performance of Animals. And since the live performance was after the production and release of the album, how could he have predicted then he would spit on a fan. Maybe "trained not to spit in the fan" means something else then.
