Even though this song was written before Jim Cherry died. I still think it's aboiut his death. "It's to late to talk to you" probably refers to Jim Cherry's overdose. "it's to soon to say goodbye" Jim hadn't died at the time of he writing. If you read to the lyrics to Premedicated Murder, also on "Hard Rock Bottom" you get the feeling that the song is about Jim Cherry's addiction to pain killers which eventually caused his death. |

It sounds like he had a mentor or a teacher who understood his love for music and writing and this teacher encouraged him through tough times and now he is thanking that person for being there and showing confidence in his work.
I agree with you.. prehaps the person is jim cherry, who recently died. he played bass in strung out, then he got kicked out and he and jason hadnt spken to each other in the 4 years before jim died. in an letter jason wrote in response to jim's death he thanks jim for giving him a chance to do what he wanted more than anything (form a band) he also credits jim for helping him become a better song writer. and he's great at that . |

I think there is a VERY deeep hidden meaning to this song, just like most NOFX songs......
i think he's right.. i always thought this song was about how its okay for vegetarians (fat mike is one) to eat clams because they dont have feelings like cows and pigs do. but yea, its a funny song. |
