Blur – The Universal Lyrics

My opinion....! There's a lot of stuff in this song tied to the mood of Britain in the mid 1990s... the optimism of New Labour perhaps gaining power after a long period of Conservative rule, many of us whom couldn't remember anything else. The newspapers turned very pro Labour and it was around the time the National Lottery started to a lot of hype (golf ball in video?). Also (next bit very much my speculation) remember this was one of the biggest selling Britpop albums and Blur cleverly manipulated this album to be as commercial as possible - I kind of very smart irony or maybe too much credit to Blur - debate! |

To me, the song is simple... The further you go down the road in love, the deeper the implications as you become increasingly engulfed on all levels. |

I think he's talking about being away from home and someone he cares about. "This European air it always warms my face I wish I could buy some " - perhaps this is reference to a warmer climbate (than Britain). |

Morrissey – All The Lazy Dykes Lyrics

A wonderful song from Morrissey's latest album. This is what Kill Uncle should have sounded like. The part I find interesting in this song is the reference to 'lazy' dykes, suggesting that the married(perhaps) girl is hard working, perhaps looking after her ungrateful - or at least husband or boyfriend.
"And when you look at me you actually see me" sees her feeling understanding perhaps for the first time. |

Morrissey – Let Me Kiss You Lyrics

I like the suggestions here, it's given me a new perspective. My own take is he is describing finding someone, growing older and looks fading, and all the time things never quite seeming perfect. Yet he describes his heart always being open, so there's a sense of long term love for this person. A beautiful song however you want to see it. |
