i really wanted to read this book and i asked my teacher if i could read it for a book report but she said no because it wasnt "grade eight reading level" (i mean, what the hell is goddam grade eight reading level anyway? i mean is there supposed to be a big label on it that says "grade eight reading level" on the book?).. but anyway i read it on the side just because and i LOVED it. holden caulfield is the best character ever and in many ways i could really relate to him.
and then in the song, this line really reminds me of the part where Holden says that he's really yellow and how whenever he wanted to beat someone up he'd just stand there for nearly five minutes and do nothing:
"He makes a plan to take a stand but always ends up sitting "
anyway, best book ever in my opinion. i'm sure i'm gonna read it many more times (like i am again). |

all i know is that this song IS about speed and that the band used to do it a while back, but not anymore. also, i'm pretty sure they only drink now because in the last issue of Rolling Stone they said that they didn't smoke pot anymore (pretty believable because they're all fathers, but also funny because a green day is a day where you just sit around and smoke pot all day). |

insomniac was such an underrated cd. it's definately one of my favourite green day albums.. and this song is amazing. "you'd better swallow your pride or you're gonna choke on it" its such a good lyric. |

i heard somewhere that mike wrote the bass line when he was stoned then forgot it the next day. also, this is one of the green day songs that took about a year to write.... and finally, its not like AND512 has any friends to talk to about how much he hates green day geez.. great song by the way. |

oops, i made a mistake. i was thinking about a different part of the song where they say "troubled times". i'm guessing that at the end of the song, though, its supposed to be the guy picking up the hitch hiker saying something like "where you going?" (maybe not those exact words, but close enough). then at the very end it sounds like billie joe says (drunkly) "to the.. (and then you purposely cant make out the rest of the words)". |

i just LOVE this song.. it gives me goosebumbs listening to it too.. my favourite part is the bridge; so much emotion involved.. this song also reminds me of my parents' divorce for some reason, but more from my point of view of it because it happened so long ago when i was so young and looking back at pictures its just like "wow.. i know that thats over now but i never want to forget it".. and yes i know that this song isnt about divorce, it just reminds me of it,. |
