Joe Purdy – I've Been To Holland Lyrics | 13 years ago |
These lyrics on the net annoy me. They are not correct. Apart from al the typos... He's not singing: I dont the language nor of the anguish that causes me to ask twice I dont knwo much but that I love the dutch cuz you dont have to try and be nice But: I don't speak the language and all of the anguish it causes for me to ask twice I don't know much but I know that I love the dutch cuz they don't have to try to be nice Listen, and you'll know :) |
Cat Stevens – The Wind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just to be clear, it's impossible for a muslim to be anti-semitic, given that Islam is a semitic religion and Arabic is a semitic language. Islam is not an anti-semitic religion, in early days jews and christians had a special protected status in muslim society. The conflict between Israel en the Palestines is not a religious conflict, people just abuse religion to make bad deeds seems good. Still, supporting hamas i's not a very good idea, neither is supporting Israel, by the way. And now, back to the song, before getting into a complicated political debate :) I really love this song, I read Cat Stevens converted to Islam after almost drowning when he went swimming, maybe that has something to do with "I swam upon the devil's lake". It's a very simple, pure and spiritual song, it touches me every time I hear it. |
Joseph Arthur – Tiny Echoes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
God, this is such a beautiful song! why am I the first commenting on it? SO BEAUTIFUL! I don't have words to discribe what it means to me... |
Joseph Arthur – You Are the Dark Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this is a really strong and beautiful song... The way it feels when your girlfriend (or boyfriend) has left you or hurt you. She was the source of his happines, now she is the source of his pain... |
Joseph Arthur – You've Been Loved Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Okay, sometimes everything feels bad and you hate yourself and you don't know what to do with yourself... but, you've been loved (by God?) so there must be something right... Beautiful song...! |
Joseph Arthur – Honey And The Moon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Two people in love. One loves the other deeply, and the other knows that ( I know that your love is true and deep as the sea). But she came to soon, at the wrong time, cause the other isn't ready yet. He can't follow her. (I think you came to soon + I wish I could follow you) She is the light in his life, she holds him up when he is down. But he can't give back anything, and she can't fix this. He has to work this out first (again, because she came to soon) I think he means that he is in a dark period and she makes it more bearable (you're the honey and the moon that lights up my night) but he can't follow her into the light, into a time that is less hard, that is free, free from the burden of his misery. (the shores of freedom) And I think he's telling her to go, to be happy, and he's telling her he loves her, and that he knows her love is real, but he has to let her go, and he can't follow just yet. Cause he wouldn't make her happy, and she had become te realise that (all your dreams are waking up). Maybe, i don't know... anyhow, I absolutely love this song! And all his other songs... |
Josh Rouse – Sunshine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
changes the whole meaning of the song, doesn't it? I really like this song, it reminds me of the way my boyfriend speaks to me. He calls me ''zonneschijn" sometimes, which is the dutch word for "sunshine". It's an uplifting song. It means to me: don't be sad, have faith in yourself, en shed your light. |
Josh Rouse – Sunshine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
correction, starting at the second "and you must know": And you must know (and you must know) That you're my little Sunshine Sunshine -ine -ine They're all insecure When you're near __ Sunshine Sunshine So come on girl Shed your light So come on girl Show some light Come on girl Shos some light Come on girl Show some light |
Josh Rouse – Rise Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I thought it was like this: Think I'm gonna pass out Think I'll just lay down right here Someone turn the light out I'll cover myself with a jacket And I'll still Catch the last ride on a Brooklyn train Thirty years old and nothing's changed Spent hours on the land line Hoping you would find time For me Showed up at your door It was a scene I was so sure You would be free I should've cought a ride on a Brooklyn train Thirty years old and nothing's changin' And I'll rise To greet you In the morning Light And I'll rise To greet you In the morning Try to hard to ignore All the feelings I have for you They won't leave I'm so crazy How I wish that you could come around And we could meet So catch the last ride on a Brooklyn train Meet me on the corner and I'll entertain And I'll rise To greet you In the morning Time And I'll rise To greet you In the morning It's an honest thing And honest things they last Think they're gonna come and carry me away Think they're gonna come and carry me away Think they're gonna come and carry me away From you Think they're gonna come and carry me away Think they're gonna come and carry me away Think they're gonna come and carry me away From you From you From you |
Damien Rice – Cold Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The lyrics aren't right, it's "no one's daughter" and not "love one's daughter". Check Damiens site if you don't believe me. The girl in the song is Lisa Hannigan. |
The Beatles – I Will Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I also love this song, makes me think about my boyfriend, and when I met him, it felt like I had always loved him. |
Supertramp – Give A Little Bit Lyrics | 19 years ago |
FreddieIsMyIdol is right, I\'ve got the original record in my hands right now, it\'s from \'77, and the Goo Goo Dolls formed in \'85. (I\'ve actually double checked it). So, I guess Kevin thinks that the Goo Goo Dolls did a better job then Supertramp. I must say, personaly, I like the Supertramp version better. |
Leonard Cohen – Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I'm not looking for another as I wander in my time, walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme you know my love goes with you as your love stays with me, it's just the way it changes, like the shoreline and the sea" In absolutely adore this piece of this song. Especially the last part, when I hear that, I see the sea drawing back, but the shoreline moves exactly like the sea does. It seems to me like he's saying, our love is forever, and we will always be right for eachother ("our steps will always rhyme"). And I think that's a beautiful thought, to which I can absolutely relate at the moment. But then there's that sadness, the sorrow and the goodbye. Very beautiful. So strong. I find it very hard to explain what exactly it means to me. So strong |
Leonard Cohen – Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love this song. It makes me feel so very much. The voice, the melody. It is really a great song, with such beautiful lyrics. It really hits the feeling I have, when I really love someone, but have to miss that person. |
Counting Crows – Black And Blue Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is what Adam Duritz says about it: Black and Blue "'Black and Blue' is about the fragility of people. It's not necessarily about the girl doing all these things to herself as much as about her imagining doing all these things to herself. I didn't want to write a big song about suicide or anything; it's really a song about being so sad that you sit around and think about suicide, which I think people do all the time. That's why it says, in the last verse, 'tell yourself, or we’ll read a note that says, "I'm sorry everyone. I'm tired of feeling nothing. Goodbye."' It's about her imagining everybody reading the note. It's about her thinking about all these things she'd do to herself, and it's also him thinking about it. It seemed to me that thinking about it was much smaller and much sadder than actually dong it. Who is this song really about? " I couldn't tell, when I was writing the song, whether I was talking about … me … or this girl." |
David Bowie – Wild Is the Wind Lyrics | 19 years ago |
No comment yet? Unbelievable... This is such a beautiful song... I think it's about love (kind of obvious..). About a love that feels very strong, but the person who sings it knows, that this love can go wrong. "Like the leaf clings to the tree, Oh, my darling, cling to me " The leaf is attached to the tree, but can still blow away easily. "For we're like creatures of the wind And wild is the wind Wild is the wind " We are both wild, and we don't know what will become of us in the future. Maybe... I'm not sure.. Still love the song though... |
Travis – Why Does It Always Rain On Me? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Here are the correct lyrics: I can't sleep tonight Everybody saying everything's alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all these lights Sunny days Where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning I can't stand myself I'm being held up by invisible men Still life on a shelf when I got my mind on something else Sunny days Where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh, where did the blue skies go? And why is it raining so? It's so cold I can't sleep tonight Everybody saying everything's alright Still I can't close my eyes I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all these lights Sunny days Where have you gone? I get the strangest feeling you belong Why does it always rain on me? Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? Why does it always rain on me? Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning Oh, where did the blue skies go? And why is it raining so? It's so cold Why does it always rain on me? Why does it always rain... |
The Beatles – Tell Me What You See Lyrics | 19 years ago |
me too, and i'm also not sure why |
Tom McRae – The Boy with the Bubblegun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it's the boy with the bubblegun, and not with the bubblegum, like the title says, so Tom_999, it has nothing to do with children choking on bubblegum. I think thelastnarrator is right about this song. And Itekei is also right. |
Tom McRae – Sadly Beautiful Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Tom McRae didn't actually write this song, it's originally form The Replacements. I like Tom's version better though. Very beautiful song, makes me cry almost every time. |
Tom McRae – Karaoke Soul Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Tom says about karaoke soul: " Every aspect of our society and culture has now been reduced to a competition with pre-determined results, much like American elections. Pop music is an interactive soap opera, TV and newspapers are celebrity court circulars telling us what the new Kings and Queens of light entertainment are up to now. And chief Pop Idol himself, Tony Blair, learns a new dance routine every week, hoping we won't notice he's re-hashing the same old tunes. Yes it's all bright and breezy stuff that none of us should get too worked up about. After all, weren't The Monkees manufactured? Fuck off, you're a twat." |
Tom McRae – Walking 2 Hawaii Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Tom McRae sai this about Walking 2 Hawaii " Song written in major key shock! It's a pop song about sitting on a beautiful beach with your beautiful girlfriend thinking how beautiful everything is... and what a perfect place this would be to sit and watch World War III start...y'know... the usual cheery stuff." |
Tom McRae – Ghost Of A Shark Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Tom himself said " Another London song really. Living here is like watching a loved-one die, not of old age, or gracefully decaying, but being literally kicked to death by a succession of government hooligans. One day, Tony Blair will get back from his day job as White House bidet and find that everyone's fucked off to Baghdad because the weather's better and the threat of being gassed is nothing compared to the Central Line at rush hour. It's also a song about living in Hackney and being scared of sharks." |
Tom McRae – Language Of Fools Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a real beautiful song, i think it's about finding shelter or refuge in the arms of a lover. But i'm not sure... I just love the way this song makes me feel. |
Tom McRae – Draw Down The Stars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Can't stand incomplete lyrics... And I so love this song... Don't care what it's about... |
Tom McRae – Draw Down The Stars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The correct lyrics should be: Coming back to the city That I never quite leave Picture you by the ocean Picture me coughing into my sleeve Like a snake-eating snake you confuse me Who's killer, who's captive, who's free In a city that kills by constriction Throw your streets around me and squeeze And draw down the stars Draw down the stars What's in your heart Your heart This fluorescent night will divide us And dissolve to a flickering screen And we all know each others secrets Things seen but not seen And draw down the stars Draw down the stars What's in your heart Draw down the stars Draw down the stars What's in your heart Your heart |
Tom Waits – Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I've asked myself that question over and over again... Can't seem to figure it out... 'it's time, time, time, that you love" is time the object of the love, or is it time to start loving? Maybe it's about the passing of years, time, and how everything seems to be going in live, bad an miserable and loveless, and it's time to start loving, and it's also time that's the object of love, because time keeps passing. |
Tom Waits – The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Great song! Blame everything else, but not yourself... Isn't that what this is truly about? |
Tom Waits – Hope I Don't Fall in Love with You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
but the lyrics are not entirely correct |
Tom Waits – Hope I Don't Fall in Love with You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it surely is a great song... |
Joseph Arthur – September Baby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Very beautiful song... Made me cry the first time i heard it, i'm not really sure why though.. It's just very beautiful.. |
Joseph Arthur – Innocent World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yes, indeed, he surely is a great musician... |
Damien Rice – Cold Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is possibly one of the greates songs ever written. It is so great. Almost like it has been inspired by some divine power. It really shows Damiens genius, I think... I think it's about being lost, but holding on to what you love, being afraid of losing the ones you love. And maybe even about the fear of death. Like someone knowing he/she is going to die, but still holding on to the last bit of hope that is still left. Maybe it's just about the desperation everyone of us sometimes experiences, the feeling of being lost, not knowing how to get out of a dark and difficult situation, but still knowing there are people out there who love you, and at the same time knowing that there is a risk of losing those people. Or maybe not people, but maybe some devine power (like God, or whatever you want to call it) Maybe... I don't know... it's just a wonderful song... |
Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song means more to me then i can possibly ever expres in words. It is just so beautiful, so recognizable, so tender, so delicate... |
Damien Rice – I Remember Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Just beautiful this song... It throws you from fragile, tender expressed emotions and feelings of pain and dispair into heavy, agressive, desperate expressed emotions. It really covers all there is to feel in difficult times with a lover... |
Damien Rice – Amie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The first song I heared from Damien Rice was 'Amie', and i totally fell in love with Damiens music after hearing this song. He's totally amazing! To me this song shows the tenderness and beauty of love and a loving relationship, but also the fragility of it all. And how people want to keep believing in things they know will never actually come true, but that it's ok to believe in such things, just because they are beautiful. And, I think it's about totally accepting every aspect of eachother, opening up, and the beauty that springs from that. |
