Stars – Window Bird Lyrics

I'm almost certain that the lyric is "When we go deaf".
Listen to it with headphones. You can hear the "f" sound. |

Pavement – Ann Don't Cry Lyrics
|
To those above take us out
throw us down shove us out.
We get down so so hard.
But your vulgar display
caught me off gaurd;
Cold cold boy with american heart
gonna run in and lock up the shots again
This part of the song is my favorite part of any pavement song. |

Modest Mouse – Bankrupt on Selling Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
Well, I'll go to college and I'll learn some big words
And I'll talk real loud, goddamn right I'll be heard
You'll remember the guy who said all those big words
He must have learned in college
That part makes me cry. Every single time. I can't really put into words why I find it so poignant. |

Modest Mouse – Life Like Weeds Lyrics

I think this song is about how what is expected of us, what we choose to do with our lives, jobs, school, et cetera, smothers us, and eventually causes us to forsake those we love. |

Broken Social Scene – Lover's Spit Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I hate to break it to you guys, but BSS is not a 'gay' band. They really aren't even a band at all, really. They are a conglomerate of a number of canadian indie bands. Just because one person wrote a song about being gay doesn't mean that the other 16 people involved are. The songs were written by two different people, with different meanings. |

The Books – Smells Like Content Lyrics
|
This song, I believe, is about our tendency to not only complicate a simple world with things like laws and religions, but also about how we must always look for the big picture in things; the way everything fits together.
Also, it remarks about the irony between what the world is, and the way it feels to it's inhabitants.
Looks like someone in The Books bought a thesaurus. |

Bright Eyes – Bowl of Oranges Lyrics
|
I think it's sad that people have to think that Bright Eyes needs to be sad.
Even to the point of saying such an obviously happy song is sarcastic or ironic.
No, people. This is just our friend Conor not being sad anymore. He isn't even sad at all on I'm Wide Awake. He speaks of depression in the past tense. This is a happy song, I'm Wide Awake is a happy album. Get over it, folks. |
