The Helio Sequence – Hallelujah Lyrics 16 years ago
The opening line is, "And though we did not believe in god."

Tokyo Police Club – Listen to the Math Lyrics 16 years ago
Should be, "Everybody gasped." instead of 'guessed', and 'experts' instead of 'ask books'

Stars – Window Bird Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm almost certain that the lyric is "When we go deaf".

Listen to it with headphones. You can hear the "f" sound.

Swan Lake – All Fires Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's "But it's Teresa that you love the best."

Pavement – Ann Don't Cry Lyrics 18 years ago
To those above take us out
throw us down shove us out.
We get down so so hard.
But your vulgar display
caught me off gaurd;
Cold cold boy with american heart
gonna run in and lock up the shots again

This part of the song is my favorite part of any pavement song.

Pavement – Starlings of the Slipstream Lyrics 18 years ago
How does this song not have comments?

Well, anyway, I love it.

The New Pornographers – Streets of Fire (Destroyer cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
This was originally a Destroyer song. From the same album as 'Breakin' The Law', 'We'll Build Them A Golden Bridge."

Xiu Xiu – I Luv the Valley OH! Lyrics 18 years ago
I didn't think the san fernando valley was all that bad when I went there.

Sufjan Stevens – Pittsfield Lyrics 18 years ago
that last line is, "I don't regret having left the place a mess."

Jenny Lewis – Rise Up with Fists!!! Lyrics 18 years ago
Am I crazy in thinking that this song, along with others on the album, is a renunciation of religion?

submissions
Neko Case – Margaret vs. Pauline Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is probably about the common man, and the rich man, and the seperation of the two.

Pavement – Strings of Nashville Lyrics 18 years ago
It's pretty obvious that this song is about the Major Labels, and how Stephen Malkmus hates them.

The Aquabats – Fashion Zombies! Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is more than just a mockery of emo kids. Just look at that chorus!

Kevin Devine – Not Over You Yet Lyrics 18 years ago
Did you just just write 'hot' with two T's? Holy shit.

Modest Mouse – Bankrupt on Selling Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, I'll go to college and I'll learn some big words
And I'll talk real loud, goddamn right I'll be heard
You'll remember the guy who said all those big words
He must have learned in college

That part makes me cry. Every single time. I can't really put into words why I find it so poignant.

Modest Mouse – Life Like Weeds Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about how what is expected of us, what we choose to do with our lives, jobs, school, et cetera, smothers us, and eventually causes us to forsake those we love.

Broken Social Scene – Lover's Spit Lyrics 18 years ago
I hate to break it to you guys, but BSS is not a 'gay' band. They really aren't even a band at all, really. They are a conglomerate of a number of canadian indie bands. Just because one person wrote a song about being gay doesn't mean that the other 16 people involved are. The songs were written by two different people, with different meanings.

The Books – Smells Like Content Lyrics 18 years ago
This song, I believe, is about our tendency to not only complicate a simple world with things like laws and religions, but also about how we must always look for the big picture in things; the way everything fits together.

Also, it remarks about the irony between what the world is, and the way it feels to it's inhabitants.

Looks like someone in The Books bought a thesaurus.

Bright Eyes – Bowl of Oranges Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's sad that people have to think that Bright Eyes needs to be sad.

Even to the point of saying such an obviously happy song is sarcastic or ironic.

No, people. This is just our friend Conor not being sad anymore. He isn't even sad at all on I'm Wide Awake. He speaks of depression in the past tense. This is a happy song, I'm Wide Awake is a happy album. Get over it, folks.
